The Castle of Cagliostro is a fantastic animated adventure movie but Lupin is almost a completely different and softer character in it due to Miyazaki's influence. I'd recommend you watch it later.

I'd also recommend The Woman Called Fujiko Mine if you're wanting something a bit more abstract/darker but just know it's a spinoff of Lupin and follows Fujiko instead of Lupin.

The initial shot of lupin absolutely, they did the same thing with the minions, despicable me, and the Grinch, and Sony did it I think with hotel Transylvania for one of em. The whole "character on white background" shit is very illumination tier. Thankfully the rest of the shots look great
