In Teletubbies it's essentially the same thing - everyone just does what the voice from the loudspeaker says and they're compelled to its will, they eat some Onions-like one-size-fits-all food rations, live in a communal housing unit and even get told when to go to bed.

But you're mostly right. However, a lot of these shows are for children that are like toddlers and shit. Just the age where you teach them to share their toys and basically be controlled like all of that because they're kids who need controlled like that. Bedtimes, eat what mom and dad are cooking for dinner, don't go playing out behind that shed because there's a giant pit there. Basically those shows have totalitarian undertones because the audience, toddlers, basically have to be controlled at that age. It's called raising your children.
Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of propaganda out there like this for older audiences as well, I just think at this target age group it's less brainwashing and more "obey your parents". Or I guess that is brainwashing, but at that age that's all raising them is because they don't know any better. When they get older though, they can make those decisions themselves.

I guess it rubs me the wrong way because even as a young child I fucking hated those kinds of shows and just about everything I did like was sort of anarchist in a way, with the characters doing whatever the fuck they want and disobeying authority figures.
