Seriously, the end elevates it so much further. It's such a shame he never managed to finish it but even as it is it's really fantastic, can't recommend it enough.

Muddled and confused. A pretty good watch like most Bertolucci's films, but there are superior ones. If you've got the time, go for it, but you might as well watch The Leopard if you haven't seen it or any other Bertolucci's epic. This one's kind of okay, but ultimately a misfire, still a pretty fine watch.
