The plot seems to be that Jax recruits Cole and Sonya to go undercover in Mortal Kombat to get Kano, they realize it's not just an underground bloodsport competition and some genuinely supernatural shit is going on, and have to join forces with Liu Kang and Kung Lao to defeat Kano, Mileena, Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung. No Scorpion and no Johnny Cage in this one.
Also, Raiden in older drafts was a 12-year-old boy, but it seems they've defaulted back to an old dude with lightning powers.
But why though? If they want a father daughter duo just give it to Jax and if they don't want Johnny just give the mysterious bullshit bloodline powers to Sonya. No one wants anymore OC characters when there's a massive roster to choose from.
