Finally a voice of reason. Seasons 5 and 6 did IRREVERSIBLE damage to the story and pacing. The show was fucked long before last two seasons.

The last two seasons of GoT had the general problem of scenes setting something up, but the pay off happens either off screen or not at all. Jon's parentage is about to be revealed to Sansa and Arya, and it happens off screen. Jaime leaves Cersei behind to suffer from her own mistakes, then rides back to her anyway. Ellaria and Tyene are shown to be chained in the dungeon, and then are never seen again. Meanwhile, those three girls fucking Bronn in that one scene (which, once again, was setting something up without having a pay off so it was ultimately pointless) mention that Ed Sheeran's face fucking melted off from dragon fire. Now, why couldn't WE see that? It would subvert the audience's expectation of a pointless celebrity cameo by paying it off with some gruesome and satisfying carnage. But no, that happened off screen. Why am I still talking and thinking about this awful fucking show?
