Serious question: Why can't they manage star wars? Post-TFA everything they seem to do with it seems to become a bit of a mess bereft with controversy and lackluster reception. From TLJ to toys to Galaxy's Edge.
Disney seems very competent managing Marvel, for instance.
>Post-TFA I'm sure erasing the EU was before TFA and cancelling The Clone Wars too
Aaron Nguyen
Because we don't need more Star Wars movies, they are just forcing it at this point to appease the Soi
Jayden Morales
Men like it, therefore it must be destroyed. Some things mean more to them than money.
Connor Flores
Well that was certainly shitting on the fans, but overall the mainstream was still fine with it and TFA made bank. The troubles even among normies started with TLJ
Nathan Moore
I really doubt that's why. Iger was so pissed at Kathleen Kennedy after TLJ that he tried to remove her but an internal coup in Lucasfilm forced him to backdown.
Lincoln Fisher
the mainstream don't know shit about Star Wars except there's a guy called Darth Vader and you can put the cantina song in your phone, the fans were who keep this franchise alive when there was no movies, jesus the fans are the only reason to buy the Star Wars brand it's really stupid what they did
They hired retards to manage SW but competent people to manage Marvel.
Bentley Nguyen
>the people actively destroying it stopped the guy who wanted it fixed (making money) I just said...
Cooper Gray
nah r1 and solo underperformed to an extent that the other standalone movies are rumored to at least all get delayed
Bentley Walker
It's what enormous corporations are secretly most afraid of. Despite the dozens of executives and processes and discussion and decision making, sometimes success comes down to just one irreplaceably brilliant individual.
The Marvel universe has worked because of one producer: Kevin Feige. He had a vision as to what all these movies could be and do, and was somehow able to plough through the bullshit and deliver consistently great movies. Not only that, but he was able to refine details based on what was and wasn't working (remember when Captain America had a gun in the first movie? They dropped that pretty quickly.)
Star Wars and the DCverse have no Kevin Feige. There's no one person who really has a vision for what the new Star Wars movies should be. The studio hoped it would be JJ Abrams, but he quit mostly due to incessant studio interference, to the point where he had to ban the Disney-appointed 'story management team' from set. (Also, I personally think he's an overrated hack, but that's just like my opinion man.) Disney need to find someone who can tell stories and then cut the apron strings and let them tell it.
Dylan Cox
A staggering amount of incompetence and waste, and not listening to people who warned you about what was going to happen and how to change it so this would not happen.
Gavin Walker
marvel cinema shit is only young compared to star wars and thus has still some intial big bang dynamics from its creation, with talented and motivated men workin from its inception to now. But you can already see the first signs of creative stagnation and decay when they bring in women just for being women (in leading positions!) etc,.
Star wars is already long in that decaying phase (even somewhat under Lucas) and what you see now is death. Everything they touch turns to rot, it's over. This is all a normal life cycle like all things we must accept loss and death.
Ryder White
Anyone who didn't try to stop that piece of shit from getting released deserves to be fired.
Michael Brooks
Marvel is due to Kevin Feige. Star Wars is doomed under Disney. The top people learned nothing under George.
Parker Davis
Zack Snyder should get an Oscar and beat Kevin Feige over the head with it!
Aiden James
Pandering to all types of mystery meat Amerimutts and their agendas.
Mystery meat and mutt are redundant insults, not to mention tired. Not mad just bantz bored.
Jackson Smith
Why didn't he just push it through? Anyone that thinks Kennedy is doing a good job is part of the problem anyway and would have had to go sooner or later.
Jesus Christ what a mess. They should give Lucas ten billion dollars worth of Disney stock and a handwritten apology and see if he can fix this shit, but everyone's dead now either IRL or in-universe so...Like I said, it's a mess. Who the fuck could have ever imagined the most prestigious media property the entertainment world ever produced would face an end like this?
Jeremiah Brown
That’s a sound decision and Iger is not common in making those. sounds like bullshit
Ian Richardson
It would have been a PR blunder probably, with Iger being accused of siding with sexist/racist trolls instead of strong powerful women. and TLJ still made a lot of money in the end.
KK is very popular in Lucasfilm which is completely taken over by woke women types so the whole company threatened to basically rise up if she was pushed out
Isaac Miller
eh, say what you want about Iger but Disney has become a juggernaut under him so he's doing something right
Ryder Nelson
Would anything have really been lost by sacking them all and just replanting Lucasfilms? The films are all delayed anyway
Jaxon Anderson
Sheer incompetence.
Brayden King
>Why can't they manage star wars? Gross incompetence and stubborn-ness. They can't do a 180 or it's an admission of wrong-doing. But Kathleen is an idiot who doesn't know what she's doing
Cooper Lee
If Iger wasn't retarded, he'd have already removed KK from star wars in every sense except for name and have given JJ almost complete creative control of ep9. It won't make a "good" film, but at this point mediocre would be more than welcome
Charles Cox
>It would have been a PR blunder probably, with Iger being accused of siding with sexist/racist trolls instead of strong powerful women. Who gives a rat's fucking ass? The twitterati only have power because they think they do, there is literally no way in Hell their bitching would have affected the price of Disney's stock which is all Iger cares about.
Dylan Ortiz
Because it's being managed by incompetent women who care more about pushing their ideology than about telling a good story.
Jacob Richardson
>bereft with controversy That's you sell tickets in this bitch of a timeline.
Jacob Ward
This trilogy is a wash anyways. Iger will let us all bask in the schadenfreude and let the movie tank, Then he could fire everyone and say women aren't the problem, just all the women hired under Kathleen.
Ryder Gutierrez
Disney didn't buy Star Wars because they thought they could tell better stories.
Jeremiah Taylor
Honest answer, even if the content they produced is objectively bad, there is simply no possible way to actually please star wars fans, and we would be in the same situation even if the sequel trilogy were the best movies ever made.
>Star wars fans hate Return of the Jedi >Star Wars fans hate the prequel trilogy >Star wars fans hate the EU >Star wars fans hate the Disney canon >Star wars fans hate the sequel trilogy Gee, I wonder if star wars fans are going to hate episode 9 and the Mandalorian too. Most of these things only started to be appreciated a decade after they were released because people gained nostalgia for them. It's not even about quality anymore.
By the way I haven't seen any of the movies past Phantom Menace so don't bother trying to call me a shill
Isaac Parker
Because they introduce dumb characters like Admiral Holdo for the sole purpose of being socially relevant/woke first, and then halfass the character development second. Star Wars doesn't need that shit to support itself, it will make billions just fine on its own. Honestly, any socially aware character would even be ok if they actually put some fucking effort in to make them a complete person. Purple fucking hair, really?
Oliver Brown
Marvel had billions of dollars worth of cinematic universe and pre-written stories made by professional comic book writers that had yet to be told. Fiege could easily go from Iron Man 1 to Endgame in 20 movies and STILL have intellectual property left over to milk on Netflix and in theaters.
Star Wars, however, was dead and over after the prequels and Lucas knew that without him or Spielberg, you could literally not make another Star Wars movie. Anything made without his input would end up looking like a soulless abomination.
Disney made the mistake of thinking Star Wars is an entire expanded universe like Marvel, when in reality it's more like a saga following the story of one family through a handful of movies. Anything that Lucas made afterwards was just to flesh out the Skywalker story and sell some toys.
As for Galaxy's Edge, from what I understand their short-sighted, greedy leadership followed typical jewish business practices and they cut all entertainment in favor of making it into a giant strip mall that you pay an entrance fee to to shop at. Instead of hiring professional actors to put on shows and interact with kids, they bully the latina milkshake girl working for minimum wake into doing an even sillier voice while she gouges you. Here's your galaxy far, far away, bro.
In conclusion, Disney's characters suck, kids don't buy toys anymore, and there's also the rabid fat feminists attacking the fanbase which is probably the primary reason they're losing money.
The best thing Disney did was make me appreciate the prequels.
Robert Moore
Essentially - they hired a woman to manage it. She decided that the untapped audience with Star Wars was little girls, and tilted the new movies purely to appeal to them. Then she ran into the basic problem that LITTLE GIRLS DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT LASER SWORDFIGHTS AND SPACE BATTLES. The most popular fucking role model for little girls was (probably) that whatsherface who fucked a vampire and a werewolf and had them fight over her. That's what girls like. Kathleen and her entire woke squad of female writers ran into the reality that girls and boys actually do like different things. This was in stark contrast to what their pink haired gender studies teacher told them 6 months ago, so they can't wrap their heads around it. Ultimately what happened is that they didn't get the little girl audience, and the little boy audience was turned away. So congratulations, you destroyed a franchise you stupid holes.
To be fair though, this is not really Kathleens fault per se. It's what women do, they destroy everything they touch. So really Lucasfilm and Disney are responsible for not recognizing this fact.
Kayden Watson
Basically:
-Destroyed the EU, which was keeping ghe franchise alive post Ep VI, then during the prequels. Years and years of painstakingly crafting an entire universe that somewhat meshes together instantly gone overnight. -Deleted Lucasarts and gave EA the keys to the castle to pump our shit Constant ridiculing and insulting of thd fans and fandom from the people running Lucasfilm/the actors ("those toxic males can't handle a strong woman" etc, like this matters). -The Last Jedi. Need I say more? -Attempts to inject "wokeness" into a movie franchise mostly watched by 5-20 something year old males, kids and nerds. -Making it "le ebin and goofy XD" like a fucking Marvel film.
All of this combined was enough to not only piss of long time fans like myself, but even normies, which is an impressive fucking feat. Even Lucas has realised his mistake, I wonder now if Kennedy et. al were attempting to do something, which was why he sold it off. There's no way he'd approve of what's been done to his child.
>I wonder now if Kennedy et. al were attempting to do something, which was why he sold it off. I seem to have my facts mixed up here. Disregard that I suck cocks
