SNL only does/did around 20 shows a year. The rest of the year is repeats. The thing about MadTV was it was they knew how to capitalize on this and started their seasons when SNL was showing repeats. Most MadTV seasons were between 25-30 episodes so they were new episodes more often.

I watched this, but that's mainly because the only channels I got a 100% clear image of was fox, wb, and UPN. NBC was usually watchable on the good tv, CBS if you were lucky, and ABC was pretty much just static

I was and so were my friends. There was a period in the mid 2000s where SNL started to go downhill and Mad TV was fucking kino. They got away with edgier skits than SNL.

It was much better than SNL for a long stretch of time. There was this one season though, that focused pretty much only on Bobby Lee and that was where the quality started dropping & it never got a second chance. Some of the sketch's are pure gold, alot of them hold up today..
