Why won't Hollywood make historical epics anymore?
Why won't Hollywood make historical epics anymore?
Streaming this (Alexander Nevsky) right now!
Uhm we had Hobbit trilogy and GoT, hello
Fuck Orthodox cocksuckers.
History is too problematic. Much safer to make fictional films, that way you can make sure everyone is represented and nobody gets offended
history is rayciss
Then make a film about some historical event involving black people. All we seem to get these days are those dumb superhero films for children.
Historical events involving black people are too problematic because they tend to include a great deal of rape and violence

Alexander Nevsky, a true classic kino. It is being streamed right now if you want to watch it
where
Hell no, I want to actually focus on my kino, mot watch it while chatting with a bunch of braindead incels
Look at the linked image
The link is in the poster, Yea Forums autoblocks cytube links.
But the braindead incels are half the fun!
Don’t they all fail? Alexander, Pompeii, Ben Hur, etc?
“Epics” were only made because they were guaranteed cash cows, just like anything else
Why do they fail, tho? All these people graduating with useless arts degrees, surely they would want to see some historical kino?
History is racist, even when it has no white people in it.
blacks don't have a history
I mean they're all pretty shit. And they kind of always were. Spartacus is shit too. This stuff should be on TV, not in movies.
Well it depends what you mean, no written history ofc but many epics were based on very scarce written sources anyway. And there were blacks in history, for example a film could be set in ancient Egypt and feature a Medjay as a major character.
>Hollywood make [...] anymore
>Alexander Nevsky
This movie was made in the USSR, not America, you fucking walnut-brained philistines.
It's not even Eisenstein's best film - Battleship Potemkin, while overrated, still holds up as a classic of the silent era, and his production of Ivan the Terrible was more immaculate if one is interested in historical epics.
Financial shenanigans aside, do you understand how demanding the production is for historical epics? Most working directors only know the inside of a soundstage and their favorite hipster neighborhood.
Not enough historically epic negritos.
Egyptians were not black.
I did not say that they were, I said a Medjay, who were recruited from Nubia and were thus black.
