Why is Japan so much better than the west when it comes to horror movies?
Why is Japan so much better than the west when it comes to horror movies?
It's not. They've got like four good films.
West's about the same. Horror is inherently trash as a genre.
the hairghost thing was pretty cool for a flick or two but what else have they done since then?
hollywood does horror because it can be low budget and get easy sales around halloween
They're not, Japan doesn't even have slasher films.
They are more subtle about it. That is always 100 times more frightening.
They aren't.
Think about the best horror movies ever, how many of them are japanese?
The American version of the Ring was far superior.
For dry, red eyes, Clear Eyes is awesome...
Where can i watch the japanese ring
Watch more horror. Over 1000 horror movies released this year already.
They have in depth folklore
>le pale girl with long black hair
Woah so creative
The american Ring is one of the most embarrassing remakes I have ever seen. Verbinski isn't a hack but he blew that one really bad. American horror has been in the shitter since the late 90s.
480p on Youtube for the VHS-like experience.
>Why is Japan so much better than the west
couldn't tell you user
I really like J-horror, and the splatter stuff they've made in the last ~10 years, but it's still not close to the west.
yeah because Ringu was the first to do it before it was imitated to death retard
>Horror is inherently trash as a genre.
>Vvitch
>Suspiria
>Alien
>The Shining
>Exorcist
>Silence of the Lambs
>The Thing
Go fuck yourself.
I want a Japanese ghost gf.
Ringu is fucking shit
>American horror has been in the shitter since the late 90s.
>Session 9
>The Machinist
>Tucker and Dale vs Evil
fuck weaboos
Apart from House and Ju-on they haven't done much that's any good.
Debatable. But Raimi's The Grudge is the superior version no contest.
I bet you find resident evil scary
Is there a Japanese horror chart?
Jap horror filmmakers are soderbergh obsessed pornographers that cant let go of the 90s. Grotesque, immoral, gory, brutal - yes. But none of them are scary. Jap horror filmmakers should learn how to include humor.
>long hair
>scary
Okay Japan we get it
Wrong. You're just a plebeian.
Aussies do it better
American films started cucking on intensity about a decade ago. Horror is the genre where intensity matters most. Why American filmakers do this? I don't know but, i'd like to know because until intensity is reintroduced to American Cinema everything is going to suck
They just remake the same thing constantly.
Kairo is GOAT though. Pure incel core like Blade Runner.
Good japanese horror movies are more about dread than jumpscares.
Also true, but there are no western movies with the same feeling as Audition
not an American horror movie has, or will ever surpass Kairo or Noroi
terrible weed opinion. heres a list that i can name on top of my head
>alien
>the shining
>the exorist
>rosemary's baby
>dawn of the dead
>Psycho
fuck off burgerboo
>Why is Japan so much better than the west when it comes to horror movies?
>why is a race of robotic bugmen who doesn't even flinch when children are splattered on the pavement, better at horror movies?
I wonder why
those are the chinks lad
japan has soul
Watch Onibaba, it's pretty based
the best japanese style horror kino isn't even from japan
Good movies but they don't actually inspire fear in anyone except boomers. That's why asians and some euros are better with horror. The movies themselves may not be as epic or grand but they actually make you afraid.
Spoorloos is the ultimate euro horror
Most of them?
>>rosemary's baby
The only actually scary movie in the list.
Nobody Knows is actually scarier than most horror films
