I watched Heat with my gf and now she torrented and watched all the Michael Mann stuff on her own. Thinking that women enjoy badly written tropey female characters is plain wrong, incel.

This show got heavily shilled here, which put me off it but I was out of things to watch so I checked out the first episode.
Its not bad, but its kind of millennial white urban middle class female doomer humour. I am the target audience but it just irritated me. Literally all her problems are because shes insecure and annoying, and regardless of what gender you are, that equals a hard pass from me.
Also I love guinea pigs and the thought of keeping them in a tiny cage in stressful loud environment like a cafe is distressing to me.

I think it's popular because she represents how a lot of young, 20-something modern women feel:

She had all the same insecurities as Fleabag, all the same mannerisms, she was constantly upset and complaining about how her life was so hard, telling me about all the things that were wrong, smoking, doing drugs, having unprotected sex with strangers on tinder, not taking any meaningful action to fix anything, just fucking up everything more and more, like a race to the bottom as fast as she could.
Life is hard for everyone. This pessimistic, shitty attitude the show espouses will only make your life shitty - it's self-fulfilling. You have to take responsibility, work hard and look after your family, not have sex with strangers and complain all the time. That doesn't make you cool. It just makes you trash.
