Aside from all the /pol/sting about agendas, this show is still shit from a purely storytelling perspective. 90% of it is filler and the world is never actually fleshed out. Lots of missed potential. It seems like inexperienced writing, and I think they didn't have an idea of where the story was going when they started. I really wanted to like it but anyone saying it was as good as A:TLA is memeing. If not for /pol/, it will be forgotten. Hopefully sugar learned something from steven universe and she'll be off the training wheels the next time she makes a show.

there's an episode pretty early on called "giant woman" which at the time seemed funny and self aware, later makes me feel grossthat I ever watched it.
Basically the show creator Rebecca sugar (ugly troll who looks like a ugly boy) sings a song on the ukulele through her ugly-girl-boy stand in character steven about how she just wants all of her friends to merge together into a giant woman. Its just as autistic and cringe as you'd think it is.

but honestly I think its pretty ok up until the episode "keep beach city weird" and then it goes super dark and every other episode is just painful and cringe.

A somewhat okay ideal for a show executed poorly and Rebecca Sugar shoving her shit everywhere. I still think it would have been better to have Steven be a bit older like he was in the pilot because he seemed a lot less annoying there to me for some reason.

SU is a show where nothing relevant to the plot happens 90% of the time. This isn't unlike any other cartoon or anime. However, the problem with the show is that there are very long hiatuses between a lot of those episodes. The release of episodes follows no normal pattern. There will be like 3 episodes released and then we wait four months for 2 episodes and a six months for 1 episode. I'm not exactly sure if that's what happened since I watched a big chunk of all of them at once. To make these delays worse, the animation quality of this show is subpar, there are no consistent scales for characters and they can change from scene to scene to scene. The motivations for the characters are all over the place (almost as if they forgot what they were doing since they take a six month breaks from working on it).

And after you wait six months after seeing an episode with some major reveal you learn about the pizza store family as if nothing happened.

Yeah, for better or worse, all that shit's pretty par-for-the-course as far as modern cartoons go. A lot of the inappropriate stuff in Steven Universe was already being done by other shows on CN by the time it came around. The show is alright at best. The creator tries really hard to shill and incoporate gay shit and their leftist agenda because she genuinely knows people care about that more than the show.

The characters are alright, most of them are written in the shittiest way from no character to flanderization. The writing for the show as a whole and the pacing of the show is dog shit. The creator has this thing where nothing can happen unless Steven is shoehorned in it along with his mary sue gf connie.

The messages this show tries to push out are executed poorly and the hype of it consists mostly from leftist agenda.

The decent things I like about the show is that they have some cool gem designs, but that's really it. Some of their filler is comfy and even hints or foreshadows future plot related events, but there's more filler than plot related episodes.

The last episode was good, but it felt absolutely rushed. I'd say just give it a try if you can get past the shitty tumblr pandering. Garnet and Lapis are the shittiest characters by the way

It's really fun if you like cutsey Adventure Time style songs, interesting stylized animation and anime referances. Er, i guess more like anime influences. There's only a few direct references. If you can't turn off the /pol/ for a bit then you won't be able to contain your rage but if you're well adjusted it's fun.
