>what I would give to go back to the days of going to the video store and picking something out based solely on whatever lurid artwork was used for the cover
There were some amazing covers in the late 80s and early 90s. Movies about teenagers fucking were very popular.

Pic related got censored after the VHS era ended and they removed the panties through photoshop and on the newer cover he is just giving a thumbs up.

Regardless of the film genre, there were bikini asses on the covers. Pic related was always rented due to the VHS cover alone.

kek, I'm 20 and i've never even heard of blockbuster until captain marvel. How old are you people?

I bought the VHS of this for 2 dollars when my Blockbuster closed down

I remember going to pick up a game at the video store then picking up some pizzas and I'd get to use my Book It coupon on my own personal pan. I miss my childhood man

I'm 26 and it's terrifying.
I went to Blockbuster when I was 12 or so, not sure when it closed down.

mmmm pizza and boobies :) my two favorite things

Plot in these movies is basically "I got a plan to help us score with hot girls!"

A Serbian Film
Barney's Great Adventure

fpbp

Same as Porky's and Revenge of the Nerds

sounds good to me

Guys, I think that instead of being caught in nostalgia we should try to enjoy the present times as much as we fuckin can. I mean think about it, we miss the 90's or we miss the 2000's, everything points towards every year being worse than the previous one. For all we know the 2020's and 30's may suck. So we better find things we enjoy about the 10's asap and enjoy them in whatever way we can.

Attached: pepetimeisrunningout.jpg (545x362, 32K)

yep, there will be a point in all of our lives when we say "i wish i was young as i was in 2019 again"

i liked drive and blade runner 2049. the 10's weren't completely terrible

casually walk by the r rated movies and see if you can see some boob action on the box art...never work up the nerve to go through the western style swinging doors that leads to the adult section..make a wrong turn and wind up seeing some fucked up shit in horror section..you can never back...

I used to work at a Blockbuster between 1998-2002, AMA

>present day
>movie ends
>"ah well that was an okay movie I guess"
>you are back to your meaningless, aimless, late 30's life and the clock is ticking

Did you like it?

Do you believe in an afterlife?

It was very comfy.

Ate a shit ton of candy and pirated the PC games.

Any nice memories from that time?

Not after I died

Attached: fs.gif (256x256, 16K)

I'll take Big Trouble in Little China and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker please.
Man knows his ski kino. If you like horror movies, Shredder and Snowbeast and good as well.

Not really a nice memory, but I was restocking the soda fridge when 9-11 happened.

I also enjoyed recommending movies to chads and stacies (Big Trouble in Little China and The Thing, for the most part).

Other than that is was just cool to take home as many movies I wanted - I came from a poor home and pirating was doable, but I had a slow connection.

Technically, we were only allowed to take home 5 or 7 movies a week, but as long as you picked popular movies or you returned the movie on the next day, you could grab as many as you liked.

Those were the hits that pretty much created the genre.

Porkys cost nothing to make and finish as the 5th highest grossing film of 1982. Imagine box office of blade runner, conan, the thing, and road warrior combined, but made on a $4 million budget. Porkys crushed wrath of Khan, first blood(rambo), and almost everything else that year. Only two of the summer blockbusters surpassed it (rocky 3 and ET) plus another surprise hit in tootsie.

Then porkys real success came on VHS where it attracted the people too embarased to see in theaters. It was easily one of the most rented films of the 80s. Every copy of it was completely worn out, it was like the old playboys hidden in the boys locker room, or woods porn at summer camp.
