John Wayne

Why millennials and zoomers don't watch and appreciate his films?

>Please talk about my boyfriend kids!

How much of a fucking faggot are you OP?

Because Wayne is a fucking terrible actor but John Ford had the big gay and that's the only reason he got work.

And he ruins every Ford film he is in.

Bad actor.

No. John Wayne is good when properly directed. His performance in The Searchers is absolutely fantastic. He is also good in films from Howard Hawks.

>his films

When will retards understand that actors have literaly no say or authority on the films they appear in? The only ownership of movies by a sole participant can be claimed by either the screenwriter or the director.

Actors are worthless and basicaly meaningless.

Learn to speak English retard

This is what zoomers actually believe

John Ford was not gay. The Quiet Man is ode to heterosexual love.

His faggot maneuvers in The Searchers belong to a gay porn, get that shit out of here.

too kino and masculine

Name 5 good actors then.

Great film. Maureen is so beautiful

Attached: giphy.gif (245x376, 991K)

Daily reminder based Jimmy Stewart ripped on him

Because his later pictures were overtly political and not very good.

Wayne produced and even directed his movies later into his career. McClintock is one good early example where his personal conservative ideology began seeping into his movies.

he hits women, that's pretty problematic desu

WE DISLIKE HYPOCRITICAL COWARDS; WE LIKE HONEST CHAMPIONS.

Attached: LIEUTENANT JAMES STEWART.jpg (1293x1600, 195K)

The good old days when we had right wing nazis as A+ listers in Hollywood.

John Wayne was great actor. Red River, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Quiet Man....

Even most boomers ignore this commercial hackter gives good punches tho

because draft dodger

boomer capeshit

Because he's not cool compared to Eastwood

only a few are good

>McClintock is one good early example where his personal conservative ideology began seeping into his movies
One of his best films desu

Americans fought for Communism in WW1 and WW2, so the draft dodgers did the right thing.

Retard

ok gramps

Literally a proud white supremacist.

Some of the westerns that he was in at least explore some themes and have well developed characters unlike capeshit. Also the films are competently made unlike capeshit. John Ford shits on capeshit.

Americans fought for hegemonic world jewry, not communism. There's a difference. Especially when Stalin purged jews from the USSR.

>b-but it's WELL MADE cape shit!!
hahaha

Because westerns STILL fucking suck.
>we had this thread yesterday grandpa

The difference is realizing that America is a Communist country. Christian Universalism is the death of Europe and US.

Liberty Valance is great.

No i just said that it explores themes and has characters. You have obviously never seen a John Ford or Howard Hawks film.

Literally married a Mexican. Stop trying to politicize the Duke.

Which ones do you recommend?

>Christianity is responsible for shit that has historically been shilled by internationalist bolshevik jews
you're a funny guy
though america is only communist insofar that its original White Anglo Saxon Protestant culture has been replaced by a pan-global marxist one

>inb4 some retard cites a piece of paleo-american culture dangling by a string above a vat of boiling cultmarx mulatto trannies as some sort of refutation of what I've said here

Basically all of them. Stagecoach, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Grapes of Wrath, 3 Bad Men, How Green Was My Valley, The Quiet Man, Wagon Master, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and Fort Apache are great from Ford. Rio Bravo, His Girl Friday, Only Angels Have Wings, Bringing Up Baby, El Dorado, Scarface, Red River, The Big Sleep, Hatari from Hawks are great.

>Meme actor who got lucky with rolls
>Manlet who lied about his height
>Real name was Miriam
Stick to Clint kid

Communism cladistically and taxonomically shares the same features of Christian Universalism, both have the same teleology. Liberalism (of which Communism is an off-shoot is but slightly more secularized version of this heretic Judaism, or Protestant Judaism, you call Christianity. Christian rationalism and scholastic already include these same universal themes of equality, values, judgement that are presupposed in liberalism and communism.

You think you are starting at a different thing, but it's merely the same thing just gone through more evolution, while sharing the same root and even branch.

> America is only communist insofar that its original White Anglo Saxon Protestant culture has been replaced by a pan-global marxist one
Again, you think these come on their own out of nowhere without prior development. Property owning Whites gave voting rights to debt criminals, women & niggers; universal suffrage. America even fought a "revolutionary" war in order to switch to a higher degree of Democracy, against the British Empire. This secession and drawing a border between British Empire and US was also far more damaging to WASP culture than what followed. The impetus towards global, universalism communism was planted then and there, not by France as /pol/ projectors want to believe, but America's founding fathers.

is this the greatest ending shot of all time?
it is

Attached: Searchers.png (1080x400, 529K)

based moldbug reader

One of the best endings of all time for sure. I also love endings for La Notte, L'Eclisse, Il Gattopardo, Barry Lyndon, La Dolce Vita, Offret and Eternity and a Day.

>actors have literaly no say or authority on the films they appear in?

Not under the old studio system they didn't, which is why they were always doing everything they could for bargaining power ("ok I'll do [project] and [project] but in return I really want to be in [project]"). The results varied.

I've been had! Though it is just praxeological analysis of political history, like MM himself describes.

Attached: 1559778208856.png (300x168, 40K)

It's news to me. Other parties more scumbaggish and less decent than Stewart certainly did under the pretence of complimenting him but that's not the same thing.

A) He was casted into playing himself most of the time (often shot in the same general location in Utah)
B) Always hard to get younger generations to appreciate older stuff, and 50's cowboy films are hilariously derivative of each other with most aging poorly
C) There are much more interesting actors and films of his era, and better Westerns made after.

dunno maybe? seems to me it's got a lot to do with the elder Harry Carey (one of the not many actors John Ford didn't dare treat like shit) but with the benefit of time and judgment boosting it

>playing himself most of the time

I think that's why I've never been able to resolve the question of whether Wayne was a great actor or a great *presence*.

Draft dodging faggot

>typing all of that out
doesn't even matter
sh*tskins flood in evermore
on a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero

Wayne's range was generally ok, but kinda like Tom Cruise, narrowed. There's no shame in that anyway, Jack Nicholson and Denzel Washington do the same.

I have yet to see a better western than The Searchers. Also Wayne didn't only star in westerns.

Nicholson and Denzel have made far more diverse and different kinds of movies. Duke for the most part just did westerns and they aren't THAT different.

I like him but he's overrated, he's the same character in all his film, The Shootist is a masterpiece though and objectively his best work, he deserved an oscar for THAT and not True Grit...

Because hes been dead for 35 years

But his best performances are The Quiet Man and The Searchers.

this is true: his delivery of “that’s a lie” in quiet man and the look on his face when he meets the former comanche prisoners in searchers are among the finest acting “moments” in any hollywood film.

Perhaps, but the fact he was so close to death in The Shootist and that the character can easily be an analog to John Wayne himself made it feel more powerful to me

I agree.

I'm pretty sure every faggot who say that he's good in the Searchers hasn't actually seen it

he was a nazi
youtube.com/watch?v=-yligem6V1s

I watched the Searchers and found it bad

>When will retards understand that actors have literaly no say or authority on the films they appear in?
this is some A-grade bullshit, especially for actors like Marion where he'd be the sole reason the movie was even funded

She's a real qt.

Seems like you haven't seen it, faggot.

Because you're a pleb

>millennials and zoomers
>watching anything except twenty second Vines
I don't think so

Too masculine

Endgame was 3 hours.

Incorrect. My taste in movies is one of the best actually

Name 10 films that you consider to be great.

Actually I've probably watched more John Wayne movies than any other pre-70's actor.

Wayne gave excellent performances in:

Red River
She Wore A Yellow Ribbon
Rio Grande
The Searchers
The Shootist

What's more, he exuded masculinity and charisma and was a great role model, as were classic stars like Cooper, Gable, Peck, etc.

The degenerate losers on this board, like women and niggers, cannot appreciate the likes of Wayne, preferring instead relatable degenerates like Tarantino and some bong dressed up as a gimp directed by Christopher Nolan.

Attached: 1504376987224.jpg (1080x1440, 314K)

I mean let's face it, he did all that, trying to make up for being a draft dodger.

>he exuded masculinity and charisma
lmao lol no

Attached: 1557387289044.png (306x164, 86K)

The greatest performance ever.

Marion

Are the rumours true that he was crossdresser? I've hard similar rumours about Hemingway.

Based and Bomber-pilled

He was good since Stagecoach. Probably due to Ford treating him like dogshit, which is also why he was also great in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence.

He is usually really good with Ford and Hawks. Ford also used him well.

>better Westerns made after
All the greats were made in generally the same period as Wayne’s Westerns. Anthony Mann’s Westerns shits over any Clint Eastwood flick.

He was a war-obsessed, old fuck. I love that he's completely bones inhabiting the dirt now.
S

This, but with the sole exception being THE GREAT SILENCE, and THE GREAT SILENCE only. THE GREAT SILENCE is GREAT.

It has the best fucking ending to a western

For some reason these films never could appeal to me and I didn't know why. But now that you mention it, it's obvious. These movies, and Wayne as a performer, absolutely reek of faggotry. John Wayne was cinemas first homosexual icon.

Another good bit in The Searchers is his face after finding Lucy’s raped corpse in the canyon. Also the scene where he burns down his own cabin in Liberty Valence. Absolutely gut punching.

Redpilled.

Your post reeks of faggotry.

>actor who murdered thousands people

>t. closeted fag

I unironically agree.

Attached: 1534565258243.jpg (1920x808, 303K)

>t. not closeted fag

agree, but I usually get "hostiles" and "magnificent 7 (2017)"

These are good Also Anthony Mann, Sam Peckinpah films. High Noon is good.

>Why don't Boomers appreciate Rudolph Valentino?
Because he's old, long dead, and times change.

His movies were terrible

Great lists. Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid is hugely underappreciated, and Bob Dylan's constant score makes the mood so unique.

Multiple reasons, for example

Anyone know the movie that inspired the Nathan Lane walking impression from the bird cage?

i never understood this until years later i saw a movie where John had this exact gait and arm sway

Searchers.

I find most of them rather undertalked. Found most of those not from Yea Forums but from Letterboxd profiles with "underappreciated Western" lists.

Last time I watched this movie I cried. Don't know what happened. I haven't cried since I was a kid and my dog died. Life's thrown some shitty curve balls my way in the past few years, but I've been somewhat stoic and resilient to it all, not trying to let anything appear to get to me. I was alone and really love this movie so I put it on and this ending combined with that masterpiece of a song had me in tears. Blog over.

thankye pilgrim

You can see it in this .gif too

"his films" just means films that he stars in. Why did you think there was an implication that it was movies he made you fucking sperg?

Well I probability would but I can't find the good oldies. Blockbuster is gone, Family video pulled out, Netflix has dropped so much I dropped them. Really the only way now is to get lucky when they pop-up temporarily on Amazon.

I have been trying to watch "The Right Stuff" for years but it and many other must see classic are hard to come buy. Unless I buy the collectors Blu-Ray for like ~$50. Those extras aren't worth it to me. I'll rent for $5 or buy old stuff for $10, but paying $35 to watch a good silent film is madness. You know it is way past any reasonable profit return curve. Which is why I just don't watch much anymore, even more with exclusive licencing and unimpressive subscriptions.

he’s racist

You know you can just torrent them right?

that'll be the day

Quigley Down Under
Silverado
Timerider
Dodge City
High Plains Drifter
Pale Rider
Gunfight at the OK Corral

>Don't know what happened
Because it's beautiful. It's rare to see Beauty in art these days.

BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO PLAY INTO THE GLOBOHOMO AGENDA

In the 1971 interview, Wayne railed against “perverted films,” giving the interviewer, Richard Warren Lewis, two examples when asked: “Easy Rider” and “Midnight Cowboy.”

The actor described the characters in the latter film with a homophobic slur, then went on to extol the virtues of sexual intercourse between men and women.

“I believe in white supremacy,” he said, and spoke harshly about African Americans, saying, “We can’t all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks.”

“I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people,” he said.

Of slavery, he said that he didn’t feel any guilt about the U.S. history.

“I don’t feel guilty about the fact that five or 10 generations ago these people were slaves,” he said. “Now, I’m not condoning slavery. It’s just a fact of life, like the kid who gets infantile paralysis and has to wear braces so he can’t play football with the rest of us.”

And he spoke harshly about Native Americans when asked whether he felt any empathy for them, given the centrality many of them played in the Westerns he had worked on.

“I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them, if that's what you're asking,” Wayne said. “Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.”

This guy.......sounds......problematic........and....................YIKES!

If your film isn't sending bunch of liberals (commies) into screeching rage it's probably not worth watching.
