To be totally honest, that top 3 is correct in the sense that those are the top 3 star wars movies; just not in that order.
1. ESB
2. ANH
3. TLJ
Is the correct order.
I'll be honest, I respect your opinion and could interchange any of those three depending on mood. But your ranking is rational. Good taste.

PLEB ALERT
The only way Rian ends up a hero is if he ravaged the corpse of star wars hard enough the jews can never profit off it
>t. actual pleb
What garbage
He eternally filtered the capeshitting Marveldrones that aped and took over the Star War franchise
But immediately following that scene the Force is reduced to a superpower by Rey casually lifting rocks to save the day, in a comic call-back to a conversation about the Force being more than just lifting rocks. He has no idea how to make his ideas stick.
stop trying so hard with your bait
>But immediately following that scene the Force is reduced to a superpower by Rey casually lifting rocks to save the day, in a comic call-back to a conversation about the Force being more than just lifting rocks.
And lifting the rocks ultimately is not about lifting the rocks as Luke learns from Yoda and Rey only lifts the rocks because she knows it actually isn't about lifting rocks. That's the reason why the rocks move so beautifully she doesn't try to lift them normally as if they are rocks, clearly tapping into the force and seeing it flowing through everything.
The joke is she actually has to lift them though.

This list is pretty good, but for the bottom three:

7. TLJ

TLJ is too low, it's one of the only good star wars movies, you fucking faggots

You would have a point here if Rey's connection to the Force were ever in doubt -- by Rey herself or the audience -- but it never was. It's not presented as much of an accomplishment for Rey, and it isn't one. Both TFA and TLJ trivialize the Force by being so flippant about it. Consider also Rey's "Oh yeah the Force lol xD" moment in her duel with Kylo in TFA. There's no resonance to it.
Rian can make kino, but why did he drop the ball so hard. Was it so Disney could never profit again?
nothing beats the original trilogy
SW lost all magic after that
its soulless in the current year
Agreed, but really it should be:
6. AotC
7. TFA
8. TLJ
1 - Revenge of the Sith.
2 - Attack of the Clones.
3 - Phantom Menace.
4 - Empire Strikes Back.
5 - Return of the Jedi.
6 - A New Hope.
7 - Rogue One.
-Stops being watchable here-
8 - The Force Awakens.
9 - Solo.
10 - The Last Jedi.
Empty your past feelings for Star Wars and rewatch it
you were born after 1999
It's not trying to be an ebin Rey moment, just ironic that she has to lift rocks. Then it intercuts her doing so with Lukes speech about the resistance and jedi never dying. Ultimately her desire to save her friends and Finn is what makes her lift the rocks easily.
That "oh yeah the force moment" in TFA was contrived though. I think TLJ did put Rey back in her place a little and made her more human and emo ultimately to try and show that characters need to feel sorrow and sadness to be heroes when you overcome such things.
1994, actually.
I didn't grew up with the OT, I never understood why my parents lusted after it so much. In regards of fantasy classics, I always liked Conan better. But the prequels, even to this day I still rewatch then, they are very enjoyable.
The ironic part is that Revenge of the Sith and The Last Jedi your #1 and #10 are possibly the most pure kino entries
t. born in 1990 and grew up with the OT then the PT
>Conan
pretty boring movie, but not bad. I grew up with the OT in a VHS set, born in 1991 and I probably watched those movies 100+ times
I don't really rewatch them anymore, but they are still the best Star Wars movies, the story is the cleanest and most straight forward hero story, with one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. The prequels + new ones felt hollow in comparison, I never felt like they were in the Star Wars universe but some weird CGI one
>It's not trying to be an ebin Rey moment
She rescues what remains of the Resistance and the film lingers on the rocks being suspended in the air. It is absolutely a capstone moment for her in the film, and is presented as such.
>Ultimately her desire to save her friends and Finn is what makes her lift the rocks easily.
Rey's competence with the Force was well-established prior. The point is the movie pays lipservice to the Force's spiritual importance but doesn't stick the landing. It's not apparent that Rey learned much of anything from her time with Luke, because the spirituality he emphasizes is never cast in relief with Rey. She fucks off and saves the day through pew-pew "I LIKE THIS" shooting and rock tossing. The last word of the movie does not resonate because the screenplay doesn't know how to emphasize its ideas.
2019...he's not forgotten
>It is absolutely a capstone moment for her in the film, and is presented as such.
Yeah but it's not the focus, as immediately afterwards when Kylo charges Luke and all that jazz trumped Rey and everyones attention. The way that scene is cut Luke/Kylo and Poes escape in the tunnels is given more screentime to Rey in the falcon, Rey approaching the rocks and then the rocks already being lifted.
It's showing that Rey has done something considerable, melding into the themes of Kylo and Lukes confrontation, but Kylo and Luke overshadow it and so does Lukes death
Luke and Kylo were the climax of the film, but Rey is still the center of the story and failing to emphasize it with her character is a major problem with the writing. It is not a good screenplay.
Empire Strikes Back
Attack of the Clones
The Last Jedi
all have bittersweet endings as middle entries because that's the tone of the movie it's literally not supposed to be screenplayed typically like a first or third movie in franchise. it's not a new hope or return of the jedi which is what everyone usually wants
Thats why rian was a great choice to helm the middle film. he and lucas the most talented directors in the series.
He's gone into real 4D chess. I'm certain he ruined Disney Wars on purpose and fucked JJ over due to JJ being a hack and copying ANH.
Watch JJ turn 9 into ROTJ without Ewoks.
You are not following what I am saying. I am saying that failing to echo the greater significance of the Force with Rey's character was a mistake, given it had previously set-up said significance for Rey in her time with Luke. There is no meaningful payoff to that lesson. Being bittersweet does not matter. The fact that the idea is affirmed by Luke himself on Crait is beside the point, too.
Consider TESB, where Luke's similar lesson from Yoda is affirmed by his impulsive swashbuckling being a total disaster. He does not yet possess the perspective or equanimity Yoda was emphasizing on Dagobah despite his acrobatics being impressive ("Most impressive."). He almost dies during a crisis of faith, loses a hand, and has to be rescued. That's how you emphasize an idea. If it were ever in doubt, we as the audience learn that lesson alongside Luke. With Rey nothing resonates.
1. the phantom menace = a new hope
2. return of the jedi
3. other prequels = the empire strikes back
not even on this list because it's trash: disney wars
SORRY HATERS, BUY A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT. i have special immunity embedded in the chakra of this post where if you try to tell me i'm wrong then you and your families will face a million or more years of suffering, so tread fucking lightly
>rotj is better than empire
This meme should stop
I was never a huge fan of Star Wars.
I heard TFA was coming out I watched the series so I could watch the new ones. I was legitimately excited for TFA, and even enjoyed it. I was also excited for TLJ when watching the trailers.
After watching it, it killed ALL my ezcitement and interest in the series. Rian is the main reason for that.
Cinema isn't for everyone, Rian did nothing wrong.
Rian isn't for cinema.
Alright, faggots. We're all going to disagree on the top 3. But this is about as close as it gets:
IV: Star
V: Empire
VI: Return
Rouge One
III: Revenge of the Bad Dialogue
I: Duel of the Fates
VII: The Force Reboots
Solo: A Star Lols Movie
II: Sand Gets Everywhere
VIII: The Last Laugh
Fight me
This is the real ranking:
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Star Wars
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. Return of the Jedi
5. Solo
6. Phantom Menace
7. Attack of the Clones
8. Rogue One
9. Force Awakens
10. Last Jedi
You're high for putting Ep3 that high.
Dialogue is cringe tier when it actually happens.
404 minute lightsaber fight with fuck all talking.
Have you ever heard.
Hello there.
General Kenobi.
Memes are actually the best part of this whole film.
Noooooooooooooooo.
It took about 20 years until the ending of R1 for Vader to be taken as a serious threat again. Anakin is SUCH a chump in the prequels. Character assassination is real.
I am very biased against the prequels. I find them extremely hard to watch.
TFA is a bad film as part of the series but it doesn't shit all over you like TLJ does.
TLJ...enough said. It's the absolute bottom of the list.
TPM is only worth it for the music and last 30 minutes.
AOTC is just bad and I don't think there's anything redeemable about it.
ROTS has a great first 5 minutes. I remember it in the cinema. But by Christ most of the rest is trash.
>Dialogue is cringe tier when it actually happens.
Things plebs say about
-Revenge of the Sith
-The Last Jedi
come on, user. let's be real here.
even if you liked the movie for being different, there's at least a few things you must admit were out-of-place or in the least are worth docking points over:
>the humor and quality of the "jokes" being used
>the entire casino segment + the chase that followed
>the setup and pacing of the first order vs rebellion cruiser... race? i guess you'd call it?
>the few errors and inconsistencies involved in the elaborate rey + kylo lightsaber fight
>the cringefest that was luke's final fight with kylo
>if you really care about this, then holdo's death + the lore inconsistencies that followed
it didnt need saving. it needed hibernation.
Um no, sweetie pie.
The real ranking:
1. The Last Jedi
2. The Last Jedi Tie-in Porg books
3. Rise of Skywalker trailer
4. Star Wars Kinect
5. The Force Awakens
10000000. All that other dumb boomer shit
>the humor and quality of the "jokes" being used
same argument against the prequels which made george sell the company
>the entire casino segment + the chase that followed
didn't actually mind but the island was more interesting
>the setup and pacing of the first order vs rebellion cruiser... race? i guess you'd call it?
okay you can dock
>the few errors and inconsistencies involved in the elaborate rey + kylo lightsaber fight
sure but the scene is still shot well and nice if you aren't autistic about it
>the cringefest that was luke's final fight with kylo
I mean he isn't there, so it was good for what it was and in the end pretty nice having him use a mega force power
>if you really care about this, then holdo's death + the lore inconsistencies that followed
I can see docking, even for ackbar death
still gets great marks from me
Maybe Galaxy's Edge should have been Canto Bite with real money gambling.
You shill here all the time. Give up.
Attack of the Clones is the worst in terms of entertainment. Last Jedi probably has the worst story though
Lightspeed kamikaze is still bullshit after all these years.
Disney shill thread. close it up.
What am I shilling for, exactly? Did you even read the post?
>Lightspeed kamikaze is still bullshit after all these years.
Oh, I agree. It breaks the universe.
If I was forced to shove that shit in there, I'd make the following adjustments:
-Leia pilots the ship along with C3PO instead of Holdo alone.
-Leia is totally fucked after her space bullshit but you can excuse that if it's made clear to the audience that she's basically on life support after surviving that shit.
-Before she launches, you can see Leia close her eyes, place a hand on the console and focus. There's a slight blue shimmer which spreads over everything. Even C3PO seems to feel it as a droid.
-Camera cuts to exterior of ship. There's a blue field which seems to glow around the ship an instant before it hyperspace rams.
-Scene plays out as TLJ does with half the Snoke fleet being taken out as a result.
-Audience understands that it's a suicide move only possible by a jedi or force-sensitive in their final moments and not something that's easily repeatable.
I dunno. I think you can include the hyperspace ram and still make it somewhat internally consistent with SW lore without shitting all over it like TLJ does.
>They imply that you can staple a hyperspace engine to a dumpster and fling it towards your enemy for mass profit, the way we saw it.
Lmao. Imagine being this retarded
NPC with the non-argument
HAhahaha no. It's:
>Return of the Jedi
>TESB
>ANH
>TPM
>RotS
>AotC
>Solo
>TFA
>Rogue One
>TLJ
PURE FLICKPLEB WITH ROTJ AT NUMBER ONE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>Redditor calls someone a flickpleb
kek
>the anti reddit movie
/r/saltierthancrait
ROTJ has the emotional heart of the whole thing. Palpatine's music and Vader v Luke is great. Ewoks cheapen a lot of it, however which is why I think it's a weaker entry of the original 3.
BUT
ROTJ is still in the top 3.
TLJ is down there with the prequels and Solo. I would personally put TLJ at the worst film of them all. And I don't even like the prequels at all, for context.
Yeah, you should go back to that subreddit
Here is my final ranking, all shit.
post your face
>complete trash that killed the franchise in #2
>best nuWars movie last
Ebin troll dude.
4 good
5 good
6 eh, sorta good
1, 2, 3, 7, 8
> BAD
>3 and 8 are bad
they are better than 4 5 LOL
2 and 3 are pure comedy kino
4 is decent space schlock and with great characters
5 is a cool movie
1 and 6 skippable desu
7 is literally nothing just an attempt to sell 40 year old toys
8 is actively bad
Rogue one has such poor characters I can't even remember their names but I did enjoy watching it at the cinema
Havnt seen solo.
And yes I'm fucking based
I have reached the point where I think that anyone defending TLJ is one of those 3:
- Politically motivated to defend it because of SJW shit
- Actively stupid
- Really contrarian
I liked Rogue One
Solo was a solid 6 out of 10, putting it way ahead of TLJ
TFA was OK, so ditto
I wouldn't go as far as saying that 6 is skippable. Ignoring the Ewok shit, the conclusion of Luke/Vader/Palpatine was definitely necessary. And a conclusion between the love triangle (which stopped being a triangle after ESB)..
Rogue One is not a good film. I've seen it a couple times now and find most of it a snorefest. It's only redeemable in the last 20 odd minutes which mostly feeds off nostlagia value. Having said that, I think that RO is probably more enjoyable than 1-2-3, outside of memes.
>Solo was a solid 6 out of 10, putting it way ahead of TLJ
pure shit eating brainlet
Attack > Revenge > Phantom > Hope > Empire > Return > Rogue > Awakens = Last = Solo
manbabies BTFO
why don't you faggots make a youtube video crying about it lmao
they can just say everyone has "hyperspace jammers" and the first order didnt have one for whatever reason. it's still a stupid scene that raises too many questions.
AOTC >>>>> Disney shit
hyperspace jammers
Many, many questions. Of course, this is mainly to what I guess is mainly non-canon shit like Interdictors. But they've been around for so long that I feel we may aw well consider that it's not an impossible technology in the SW universe.
>2. The Last Jedi
Bruh look at this dude
OH NO NO NO look at these "dudes"
pure turn your brain off
go cry on youtube about Rian Johnson
that scene is pure "just turn your brain off bro"
but i honestly have no idea how it was approved considering how uptight they are with the canon
>that scene is pure "just turn your brain off bro"
The splitting of snokes ship and lukes lightsaber in half was aesthetically visual kino and you're a fucking pleb who thinks about plot like a dumb nigger
Not even baiting
they are only uptight with canon when it comes to things that are not the main movies. Those can do what they want, even if it renders everything else noncanon
TLJ is trash and Solo flopped because of it, Rian
Hey Ron, nobody wanted your shitty Solo movie to begin with
Casting Emilia Clarke was bo poison
You forgot paid shills, the most obvious option
nah, I honestly believe those fuckers are stupid enough to do it for free
no from chuck
Sup Rian, thank you for unintentionally killing Star Wars, I heard the mouse is now set to lose billions on their Star Wars theme park because the franchise is dead as fuck thank to your incompetence and extreme hackery. It was long overdue, let's hope Marvel hires you next
Hey Ron you can stop by anytime you want on set if you wanna see how a real kinography is made when my trilogy starts shooting.
Alright. These comparisons don't really matter too much in the end run. But I guess they're similar in the sense that both have a lot of "old canon" behind them or whatever.
Can people please list their issues with the last few Marvel movies and the last few Star Wars movies.
>Mainly in sense of the sequel trilogy in comparison to the OT and PT.
>And the Marvel movies in comparison to the presumably more favourable comic book comparisons.
