Tfw the scene where she calls him and starts wailing at the beginning

Whew, I wasn’t ready for that. I thought I was just watching a standard horror flick.

You were watching a standard avi flick. Which suck.

*ari

That scene definitely made heart rate jump, it was not necessarily fear, more so a feeling of supreme unease and worry. I feel Ari Aster is using the same trick again in the wailing of women, something that makes a person feel extremely uneasy, its a biological trick, also he uses gore involving destruction of the head.
Weather those two are going to be his go-to’s I can’t say for sure. They worked once in Hereditary and they worked in Midsommar so maybe he’ll keep using them.
The whole movie made me feel uneasy but simultaneously and paradoxically at ease, I thought of the cult and how from the perspectives of the victims it’s horrible, but to a bystander, someone involved in the community, it wouldn’t seem as such a horror.
Also why were there so many may queens? How do they kill people off every year? Was the 90 years thing bullshit?

...

>Also why were there so many may queens? How do they kill people off every year? Was the 90 years thing bullshit?

I think they had a queen every year, but the 9 sacrifices were every 90 years

that being said, what the FUCK happened to the last year's May Queen? IIRC she looked creepy as fuck in the picture Pelle showed

what happened to the indian chick?

I thought during the film it was kind of inferred they cooked and ate her
You only ever hear her scream honestly, and the seen shifts between people and what they are doing during the scream

wait hold on the people are cannibals?

this movie was boring as fuck

I just watched this and I spent the entire movie repeating the words "This is reddit, this is memes, this is reddit, this is memes…" under my breath.

I fucking hated it. I was writhing around on the floor in front of my sofa for the last 10 minutes it was so painful.

No it’s like barely even an undertone, Sorry using the word inferred is a little much. It does go from a scene where we hear a scream to a seen fairly quickly of the women making meat pies and inviting the protagonist to help.
Also at the dinner where there is a woman shaped food-item.
It’s something I picked up on but my perception is probably off, and the movie might have thrown my hints if that were the case

how fucking autistic can you possibly be lmao

t. A24 shill nigger

can we just corral the shill threads for this mediocre wannabe arthouse movie into a general? they can have /midsommer/ general where one pajeet can talk to himself about how great it is for his 2 cents per hour?

people that dont think there are marketing teams working on Yea Forums (along with reddit and twitter) are retarded

>there’s no way people like this movie and want to discuss it
>they must be shills

Definitely a step up from Hereditary ngl

>I think they had a queen every year, but the 9 sacrifices were every 90 years
I thought about this but it STILL doesn't make sense. Because Pelle or whatever his name was said his parents died in a fire, which we can only assume was the sacrificial fire, and there's no fucking way that was 90 years ago. So that means they, what, only sacrifice outsiders every 90 years, but burn their own every year? How the fuck have they not gone extinct?

It's boring.

there is the part where the ginger girl feeds christian her blood and pubic hair. ritualistic cannibalism could be part of their festival. the movie only covers the first few days of the festivities.

whats up with all the paranoia i just want to talk about this great movie...you guys should check it out...don't forget to stpo for concessions! :)

not him but it is so obvious with this one.

It's not great. It's awfully boring.

How do they decide which of the outsiders gets sacrificed, which gets chosen to mate, and which gets to stay in the village? I’m assuming they let Dani stay in the village at the end of the movie.

>the movie only covers the first few days of the festivities.
i thought the sacrifice was supposed to be the end of it because they sacrificed 9 people for the 9th day

they said they needed 4 outsiders. they had mark, josh, connie and simon for those 4. then christian was chosen by dani as the bear. i assumed that dani was going to join them at the end, as she was firmly established as not being "one of them" and had nothing to go back to in america anyway. i don't know what they would have done if they had more outsiders, if they would have sacrificed them or let them go.

>another dishonest nu-arthouse flick masquerading as horror
Yup, that's going in the cringe compilation.

Wasnt it implied they were cannibals when the first young couple disappears then you see them making the little pies for everyone? But then you see they bloodeagled the guy but maybe the6 did eat the other girl?

yeah that's actual autism

Dani was the villian of the piece desu

Why do people think they ate Connie? You see her body at the end getting wheelbarrowed in. Christian just ate pubes and drank menstral blood.

Great film by the way, holy shit Ari really loves his sobbing, wailing women and smiling, naked old cultists.

what are good horror movies in your view then ?

I dont think Pelle was born into the cult, I think he was born outside of it, into a normal family, and joined after they died

All the bodies at the end were stuffed. They probably ate connie's internal organs

based

Why was Dani such a clingy bitch? Bros before hoes amirite?

You saw them wheelbarrowing her stuff d body to be burned at the end, same with her bf.

I think you mean implied, infer is when you deduce something from an implication.

Only the retard was stuffed because he was skinned, hence skin the fool. None of the others looked stuffed.

>someone actually made this image

She was born into a shit family that dealt with all of its problems through pills.

I guess thats just the society we live in.

that theory would hold more weight if his brother wasn't there too

Are we sure Pelle's "siblings" are actually biological? He refers to his brother as "my friend since childhood" when they first meet him with I found odd.

Ingemar was not his actual brother

Turns out the Joker was a Swede all along.

Most of those movies are seriously good, whoever made that image unironically discusses capeshit lore like getting deep into Thanos' pathos and ethos and stupid shit like that instead of just watching it for what it is (which is bugman trash entertainment)

boring chick flick drama

It's NOT a horror movie.

FROM THE CINEMATIC VISIONARY BEHIND TINO'S DICK FARTS

Attached: dijerd.png (1105x754, 177K)

there's no solid indication that he's not. he says that he's his "best" friend since childhood, probably trying to imply that they never fought or anything, or how close they are after losing their parents. he refers to the cult as his family but never addresses any of them in familial terms besides ingemar.

It was such a shit movie
I regret going to cinema for it

It's possible there are willing sacrifices+the extra one without counting the outsiders one.

4 outsiders will be sacrificed, Christian was chosen for the fertility ritual and the May Queen chose him as the aditional one, but if she hadn't, maybe he would have lived. But I doubt it extra one seems to be the one that doesn't belong there/is a "criminal" in their eyes. Dani completely got absorbed by them. She even started speaking Swedish.

What didn't you like about it, user? I thought the side characters were somewhat bland but the movie kept me really engaged. Lots of beautiful shots and a fantastic score.

In the script they stated that they're not biologically related.

thats not my point, my point is that pelle constantly says its a 90 year thing but his parents cannot be 90 fucking years older than him when they even off themselves at 72

How the fuck would his parents die in a fire that wasnt a ritual sacrifice or something? What, did they leave the fucking stove on in their cabin?

There are probably other goofy rituals. Its a cult.

Then his parents burned up in an accident at the commune. They either burned in an accident there and ingemar is his real brother, and they've always lived there, or Pelle was an only child and lived outside the commune with his parents and they died, and he joined the commune later and ingemar isn't his actual brother. It's not that deep

If you think about it the "Nice Boy" (Pelle) would score the girl he wanted after he manipulated the events to get the Asshole Boyfriend (Christian) killed.

The once every 90 years thing could just be a lie to entice people to come.

That's pretty much his plan from the get-go. I don't know if he expected her to be made Queen or any of that, but he was definitely hoping to tap that ass and convince her to stay at the commune with him. There's even a theory that Pelle might have orchestrated her family's deaths, which I think is bullshit and not worth thinking too hard about, but interesting nonetheless. He definitely knew what he was doing

It wasnt clear? Havent watched midsommar but the leaked script implied she ritualistically drowned and they were wheeling her bloated corpse. The movie wasnt as brutal?

>leaked script
The movie is out though, user.

Anyways she dies offscreen, you hear the scream. Didnt really seem like that fit with drowning.

I don't think it went as far as that, but in the script there were more issues with Christian and Dani including her unspoken hatred/grudge because he told her to ignore her sister's threats and shit because she only wanted "attention." It's not just the betrayal about the staged sex, she had a resentment from the trauma.
