Do you watch foreign films subbed or dubbed?
I know that Yea Forums watches all of their anime dubbed and wondered if Yea Forums was the same way or if you pretend to enjoy watching a language you don’t understand.

Yea Forums - Anime & Manga
Subbed in all things, Even if it's my own language
Dub because the shitty voice acting makes boring foreign shit bearable
No one on Yea Forums watches dubs.
dub just for stephen chow flicks
dubbed just turns everything into a comedy.
I thought Yea Forums were purists, what a bunch of frauds.
This thread is about foreign films, not anime. You know, live action ones? Are the only foreign films you watch animated?
I watch it subbed. I have a basic understanding of most European languages, some slavic ones and also Japanese. So it's basically just for helping me understand the nuances of the dialogue. Also, dubbing makes everything sound super weird and unnatural.
The point of subtitles is "watching a language", heard of reading?
DUB for Americans
SUB for rest of the world that can read
>pretend to enjoy watching a language you don’t understand.
translation:
>I have the reading speed of a 3 year old so cant watch a film while reading.
I'm not black, therefore I watch everything subbed
>watching a language
Can't check subs
>I know that Yea Forums watches all of their anime dubbed
what?
I haven't been to Yea Forums in like 6 years, do they seriously defend dubs now?
my credo: never watch dubs if you can!
sub:
as intended by the creators, lip synch, as authentic as can be since the language you hear is the language where it originated
dub:
no lip synch, completely different voices by completely different people taking away everything from the original voice actor's work and completely reshaping and destroying characters since tone and voice suddenly don't match anymore. this is not what the creators intended.
I always try to watch any movie as intended, with original voices. if you're zoo lazy to read subtitles then you should stick with reality TV shows or cartoons.
Most European and Latin American countries have a much larger sub industry than the United States. Live action films very rarely get dubbed releases in the US.
I am curretly learning japanese because westshit swines started to fuck with the translations lately, because muh oppression.
Reminder that by paying for Crunchyroll you are directly sponsoring people that actively hate you and want you gone.
Dubs are only acceptable in the dollars films or if you're under 16 and watching anime.
In every other situation, they are the pleb option
>imagine not being able to see a picture and read text at the same time
Only braindead Yuros watch live-action films dubbed. I've never heard of an American doing this.
Subs except for some exceptions where the dubs create a new entity. French dubbing of French Connection 2 is really funny just because of the thick american accent they gave to Gene Hackman. Hokuto no Ken in french is also a prime example of dubbers not giving a fuck.
Because most Americans cannot read. Reminder that Jews and Asians are the only thing that raise US IQ above 75 points.
You have to be a literal brainlet to prefer dubbing for films.
Actors prepare for months and months to fully understand and deliver their lines properly with the right inflection, the director fine tunes it, maybe even rerecords some parts if the director is not entirely satisfied in post, while your average "dubbing" guy reads the lines on the same day he records them.
Lol, name one modern actor worth taking seriously, thinking that his own input is better than voiceover.
Sounds like actors are just worse at their jobs.
Subs because I'm not a brainlet
Subbed, obviously. Can you image an Ozu or a Satyajit Ray film with an English dub? It's horrid to even think about.
>Yea Forums watches dubs
You've never been on Yea Forums
I do watch subbed if movie is in language i can`t understand. However, i wouldn`t say that it`s not problematic, as when you watch subbed, your eye is focused more on lower part of a screen. So if it`s good enough movie i`ll watch it second or third time without subs with original voices.
Name one modern failed actor now turned shitty ass dub voice actor worth taking seriously.
