They didn't do a good job with the Romance between Peter and MJ. MJ liking Peter was foreshadowed well in the SMHC, but Peter liking MJ came out of nowhere. They should have done away with the Brad plot (which honestly served no fucking purpose) and started Peter off with kind of having feelings towards MJ that we see blossom during the movie.

Besides that some of the pacing seemed shitty. I didn't buy that Peter would trust Mysterio that quickly, they needed more moments together, which would have led to more weight in the betrayal. I definitely liked the first one more.

Made me think back to how Kino the raimi spiderman was not this MCU shitfest.

This movie made me feel like I was back watching the Raimi trilogy again, I'm blissful and don't understand the negativity. The focus on Peter Parker for half the movie was good, I mean that's how it was back then. The Spiderman movies were actually Peter's life but he suited up when needed.
The romance and jealousy had everyone laughing, it was good and comfy, yet it was real comedy. That's something I also liked. The funny moments were because of writing funny scenes in, not because of random MCU quips while the villain monologues or something. Mysterio was a real human threat out there to kill people and ironically this Spiderman movie might be one of the most serious MCU movies ever. I like my Spiderman being a hero of justice, not a mere buffoon making jokes while his friends are about to get killed. Time and place fellas. Raimi Spiderman was also serious like this when the situation called for it, and the final fight with Mysterio reminded me of the Green Goblin. And thematically, it was poetic to have Spiderman fight and win against the army Tony Stark inherited him. He's worthy of that power.

About the only things that annoyed me were Peter giving him the glasses out of fucking nowhere. I mean who the hell thought for a second that Peter wanted to get rid of Tony's gift? It wasn't properly set up. And it was quite a leap in logic to say Tony probably trusted him to give the glasses to someone else.
I'm trying to justify it by thinking Mysterio put alcohol on his lemonade.
That, and Fury not calling Captain Marvel when he thought the world was just about to end once the Elemental 100 times bigger than before started forming. They make a point to state this is an Avengers level threat and he doesn't press the button nor mentions it? Of course, that wasn't really fury so maybe he didn't have the device.

I really love how fun the Homecoming movies feel. And I really appreciate the attention to villains like Vulture and Mysterio. I'm not really even a comic book nerd, but it just feels good. It feels authentic somehow.

As in, he has to swing outside to save a random person in an alley, cut to a shot of him climbing out of his window to help his neighborhood?

Why can't Spider-man be cool? His heroic moments are so few and far between and the rest of the time he's just a kid that's out of his depth. I get that they're taking their time and building up to it, but that should have been the first couple of acts of the first movie.

It was pretty good. A couple of things I would change though.
I think if Mysterio was his own bad guy instead of another person born from Tony's sins. We already had Vulture do that. I want Spidey to have his own villains, not inherit Tony's.
Also his Spidey Tingle was a really strange device. I would have liked it if they found another way to make it work.

Making a drone is probably a lot easier and faster than making a whole fucking Iron Man suit, and Tony made like a hundred of those in his spare time. Peter was able to make his own custom suit in the time it took him to fly from the Netherlands to London, which is a few hours.
