Fire And Blood: Far be it for me to be on an immediate bandwagon, but this is one striking young woman. She reminds me of Ellen Page, but with bigger, more luminous eyes. By her commercials alone I can tell Emilia can do the younger, naive, emotional Dany. Time will tell if she can also play the self-righteous and driven Mother Of Dragons.
George’s comment regarding his thoughts on Tamzin’s performance leads me to speculate the choice to let Tamzin go was HBO’s, not his (nor hers), but that may just be me reading into things. I doubt we will ever know. Thus far we have trusted in Nina Gold, and in Dan and D.B., and thus far — even in the recasts — I’ve not felt let down in the least.
As in anything, time will tell if the decisions were for the best. But it looks like they’ve found a diamond in the rough with Emilia Clarke. Hope she’s ready for all this.

I think people give Cogman way too much credit. His writing in the second episode was the best relative to the rest of season 8. But he wrote the scene that absolutely ruined the entire show for me, or at least revealed that the show was more soap opera than high fantasy. The final scene where Jon reveals his parentage to Dany, and Dany's only reaction is scorn and jealously. The revelation realistically should have been all about Jon and Dany realizing that they weren't ALONE in this world, that they were family and that they suffered similar cruelties and emerged better people. Only bringing up Jon's parentage as a method to seed Dany's future rage and sadism was the most egregious error of the season, everything collapsed after that because it became clear that plot trumped character development. Also, fuck D&D.

I mean, I know why it was such a mess. Martin gave them an ending, and everything that precedes that ending works to thwart the very ending it's building toward. Seriously, how can you simultaneously have Jon and Dany fall in love, on the premise that both J&D fall in love with one another precisely because they see goodness and courage in each other, while also building toward Dany becoming more insular and bitter and Jon becoming lobotimized and numb. People have shat all over D&D, partly because they are shitty writers, and partly because they come across as smug assholes. But how is Martin truly gonna pull off these plot points in the book? Perhaps D&D got the notes from Martin and realized "this is shit, and it's gonna be contrived as fuck." Maybe they see Martin's bonkers ending as an invitation to turn the remaining seasons into fan service and hacky cgi fests. At least that way they can "flex" their production "skills." Also, I love and want to marry Emilia.

I think even though they’re hacks, it doesn’t take a genius to read Georgie boy Martin’s ending and think it’s a big joke. The thing is, I always thought Martin likely had god awful views on life, in general, that I don’t plan to subscribe to. It’s why his story really just amounted to nothing more than a nihilistic answer to the Lord of the Rings. In the end, the characters came away with what? That life either sucks for people striving to be greater than their current selves, or life is great because I did horrible things or got lucky.
