Whould be better if they didn't show the monster.
true. know anything simillar?
based and redpilled
Only the Endless from 2018, but it's sad they kinda changed the theme in the middle of movie. They shifted from promising cosmic horror to basic stuck in a loop movie.
This was great, took me awhile to finally watch it but very much enjoyed.
Agreed. Promising beginning
have you read into the meaning? blew my mind
Or maybe try the Absentia from 2011? It only slightly touches the themes of cosmic dread, but it's still more then other movies. Also the acting is not that great.
Any movies with surreal, gruesome scenes? No obvious answers like “Society” or “The Thing”
Woman from 2011
Sorry my bad there is nothing surreal there
my favorite.
A mix of
>math
>nature
>history
>philosophy
>theology/esotericism (specifically judaism)
all this wrapped in a thick layer of conspiracy and paranoia.
Absolutely love this movie.
What?
Only things that come to my mind are Event Horizont or Wishmaster
after watching this a few times I find it's better if you add your own soundtrack.
We are the Flesh, Freddy got Fingered, Borgman, Dogtooth, Mother, etc
more like a Grimm fairy tale than a horror but the atmosphere is excellent and the characters are superb.
Wish I saw thisone when I was younger. I was dissapointed, but not because it was bad, but after all the rumours about it didn't fulfill my expectations.
This is my most favourite
>voodoo got right
>unexpected and unoriginal twist
>great scenes and acting
>can rewatch endlessly
>look mom i posted it again
>nobody posted Jacob’s Ladder
Shit thread
Because it's mainstream and everyone saw that
loved this movie
i dont think this movie is very good, but it's better than it's perceived
don't give him (you)s. figured after this many years it'd be a given not to take the bait. i figured wrong
What happened to that user who posted about his short film in which an alien monster graphically rapes women or something
absolute godtier poster
Based
Absolutely on point
imagine being so sexually insecure and dislike movies just because reddit might possibly like them too
this was a big old letdown to me.
seen any giallo stuff? "surreal, gruesome scenes" is basically the whole basis of Argento's and Bava's careers. try Suspiria, Four Flies on Grey Velvet, The Whip and the Body, Kill Baby Kill...
on a kind of different tack, i found Panos Cosmatos' movies to be good for this. Beyond the Black Rainbow, and Mandy. very druggy/slow paced, not for everyone, but i say check em out
One of the best soundtracks ever compiled.
>psychological
So boring shit where nothing happens and it's about mental illness or some other reddit bullshit
Would be perfect, but that one dumb dialogue ruined whole atmosphere for me.
Basado
this is a weird one to recommend because it's one of the least scary horror movies i've ever seen but there's just something about it that sticks with you after you've seen it. the director committed suicide before it was released.
great movie. much better than that hagazussa flick that gets shilled here all the time.
yesssss! im glad this is finally catching on a little bit.
Wouldnt call it a horror but this is one of the most disturbing movies ive ever seen.
Pairs well with Electric Wizard's Come My Fanatics. There used to be the whole thing paired up on youtube but it finally got nuked.
Good times.
Not really surreal, but it is a solid 10/10 movie.
Had to read about Polish history to "get" this one lol
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!!!
That doesn't look like a possum. It looks like a spider
i didn't really like this one but it had great performances. it's so weird that it was literally made by garth marenghi.
I find it's better to not watch it at all unless you're out of Zzzquil.
i'll give it a try. thanks user
Is another Yea Forums recommendation thread where every single posted movie winds up being stupid garbage that's obscure for a good reason (because It's shit?)
What the movie is about. Nephilim, ect.
then you haven't seen much
more creepy than scary, and pure psychological.
Ralph Fiennes is excellent as Yea Forums personified and its Cronenberg FFS.
got a link?
That doesn't look like a spider. It looks like a man
Whats the weird body horror movie where the chick turns into a bug? any good?
That was a trip.
It is pretty comfy.
You mean nightmare on elm street 4?
Tried to watch this on two separate occasions and had to turn it off. Good atmosphere but holy shit was it boring.
Bite? It's alright, for the body horror. I've been thinking about rewatching it.
there's also Thanatomorphose, but that's about rotting.
That movie was pure shit.
Mommy is spooky
Wait, I am spooky, mommy is just normal.
Going to watch this
beyond based. the son in this gives one of the best performances i've ever seen.
Facts
Watching this with a dub was a huge mistake.
Watching this now and I'm not sure what the fuck is going on.
Read this after
movie is boring as fuck. almost as boring as begotten.
also extremely poorly acted with a climax that falls incredibly flat
>SPOOKERS!!!
>CREEPERS!!!
Good read, nice review. I figured they had to be some otherworldy beings but the nephilim part I would never have gotten. Really solid movie.
>The last bottle
Every time.
This has basically similar concept as Mother, but actually done by someone who's smart and not a pretentious pseud. I liked it.
Any "horror" movie that can be solved with a shotgun isn't horror.
Kill List is one of my favorite horror movies, maybe ever, but I still haven't seen that one because I heard it's just some soldier tripping balls on shrooms and not actually horror. Downloading now. Thanks for reminding me.
not really disturbing, just cool
>reeeeeeeeee where’s my key
>coding lmao
Check this out if you like weird jap cinema. Directed by the guy that did ju on starring shinya tsukamoto
i generally like assayas but this was doo doo
I don't know if you can call this horror. It's more of a surreal thriller comedy with horror elements.
ya it was dreadful. assayas obviously just wanted to film stewart masturbating. which i mean, same, but the rest of it is extraneous.
bump
You should really check out a movie called The Sentinel. It's like a mix of Repulsion, Freaks and The Haunting, in a way. It's late 70's, but still grotesque today.
I'm watching this now for the first time in 15 years and you know, it is better than what I remember. Wouldn't call it psychological though.
Based thread
Anyone else has a movie that really nails that dream horror feel?
see
this movie is great
very underrated movie desu
Inside
I remember reading that this had a much deeper meaning than the subject matter. I can't remember now. Spoiler text if you know it.
You need to watch the end. Use headphones
Great film. Shannon deserved an oscar for this.
Not a horror, but after hours gave me such a creepy vibe during the build up
What's with all the nu-horror? I understand it's summer but come on.
if you're gonna complain about people posting recent films at least don't go and post the most super obvious entry level shit. c'mon now.
Well said
Couldn't make out what was happening half the time
Aussie kino
Great ending
More Aussie kino
This
Killer Joe
Snowtown
Spooky illuminati mk Ultra
More like this pls?
extremely based
all horror is psychological
Holy shit, he killed himself? Isn't it about Jewish horror or a dybbuk box or some shit?
Yeah but tv faggots and redditors won't admit that.
This movie was stupid
Tales From the Hood - This shit scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
and Im watching this one now. It's okay, I don't like the supernatural turn it took though. We Need to Talk about Kevin was better. Hell, even The Good Son is better than this.
Speaking of horror, does anyone remember a movie called Mikey from the early 90's? I love these "Evil Child" movies.
Any one see equus?
bump
Thanks, hadn't heard of this one. Is this a single location type of movie? Sounds good either way
Yeah. It's pretty good.
I thought it was overlong and overdone. I did finish it but I wasn't that impressed. It was okay.
Based on the shit people are posting here, I highly fucking doubt any of them have seen entry level classic shit.
Hopkins was miscast and it should have been Gene Wilder.
probably not horror but it might have some kino rape scenes in it. and maybe some cool abo vs english fight scene with muskets n shieet
so how is possum anyway? is it just pretentious bullshit like begotten or is acutally good?
One of the best horror movies ever.
absolute shit
onions addict
>alien
>the ritual
>hereditary
but user those are actually good. and how in the fuck is the ritual uneventful?
except it isn't
>Calls actual horror soi
>He likes slow burn sissy shit like the witch and hereditary
PEAK S O Y
>some viewers were apparently so shocked by the multiple and apparently brutal rape scenes which unfold within the movie’s first half-hour that they left the theater. One attendee reportedly yelled, “She’s already been raped, we don’t need to see it again,”
lmao
>slow burn sissy shit
you mean like seesion 9?
You literally cannot defend yourself with such shit taste.
dafuq are you talking about? fuck the witch
hereditary is complete shit. watch possession if you want "domestic horror" whatever the fuck that is
This one was just unnecessarily fucked up. I can't think of any redeeming quality. Just fucked up for the sake of it being fucked up. Why didn't they do anything with the whole "contact the afterlife" part in the ending?
Kino
