Retarded brainlet here. So how do you anons watch most of your television and film? More specifically torrents? I used to use my playstation 3 but the limited file type, file size and that stupid fucking bluray copyright audio block are all shit things that put me off it. I then used to hook my laptop up through hdmi with vlc but that feels messy and time consuming compared to the playstation. Do any of you have a dedicated desktop specifically for watching stuff ?
>you really are dumb
Yes I am, that's why I want to know how best to watch my kinos. Preferably in a way that's hidden (as in, can be in a cupboard or something) and can be remotely controlled from the sofa.

use plex, my dude.
Literally a life changer
I have LG 4k smart tv, I just download the torrent and use the LG TV plus app to play movies on wifi
I'm not a poor fag but is it a paid service ? Any pros and cons to it ?
you don't need to pay for it.
I bought a lifetime pass myself, but that's because I share remotely with friends and family
See to me that seems a bit clumsy (no insult intended user) I would rather it was all collected somewhere and would prefer it wasnt being streamed through wifi
I watch everything on my phone. Usually on split screen. I use the upper half for watching and the lower half for informing my Yea Forums bros about my viewing experience.
From a quick google it looks like a streaming based service (I appreciate the suggestion but not quite the set up I was thinking of) is it reliable ? I have pretty good internet, about 160mbps

Theres literally no reason not to mod your ps3 in 2019. That can fix the copyright problem and I believe can open up more file support.
Get a raspberry pi and a flirc remote receiver and logitech harmony remote. Install openelec with kodi, plug the flirc into the pi, map a drive with all your movies, and boom goes the dynamite.
yeah, It's steaming, but self hosted.
E.G. you have a folder on your PC with 100 .mkv movies, you install plex media server on your pc, set it up real quick and tell it the path to the folder.
Then you get on your playstation or chromecast or smartv or w/e and use the plex app to stream locally.
WAN speeds don't matter, since everything is on your local network
That sounds perfect user but you lost my tiny mind at "map a drive" any good tutorials on this ?
I get the feeling OP is too dumb for these seemingly daunting but incredibly simple tasks.
>download film, put it on an USB and plug it in your TV
>press play
??
what's complicated about it
On my chromebook. In bed.
don't do this pis are awful as cheap home entertainment machines
Yeah but I could get through it with a good YouTube tutorial kek
Buy a hard drive and make a watchlist, before your fup resets torrent all the movies in watchlist.
>not having a cheap but well powered desktop linked to your TV through hdmi full of all your shit to watch at the click of a button
Why do more people not do this ?
torrent to laptop, set up laptop as plex server, download plex app for whatever console you have
done
Buy a steam link for 2.5 dollar/euro and use it to stream to the tv
because it's rendered obsolete with the advent of streaming services and ota devices
sure, if you want more data security (lol), having an entirely separate computer can be fine, but for most people it's an unnecessary expense
It is if you have one of the few PS3's that can't be modded.
I just watch movies on my computer monitor since I find it more comfortable, but the few times I do watch it on TV(I.E when friends come over), I just use an HDMI cable from my computer to my TV along with a wireless keyboard for pausing.
Used to do though when my TV was in another room. It doesn't get much simpler and easier than that.
I use an nvidia shield with kodi. The only reason for the shield over cheaper boxes or using the shit built into every tv these days is because it's strong enough to brute force software decode 10bit anime without stuttering, which was unique when I bought it outside of going full HTPC.
thank you trying this now
I just torrent 4k UHD movies illegally and watch them on my ipod nano.
Plug a flash drive into my TV with downloaded movies on it.
Based
>ipod nano
kino
I remember being too poor for a laptop and just using the browser and media functions on my psp for everything
Run a HDMI from my computer to my projector. Organize it with Plex but play everthing using MPC-HC.
