stargate's crossover writing is pretty Kino. I especially loved how sometimes if you were watching the new eps weekly as they come out, they would often just casually drop a reference or tie in between the series, even when they weren't crossing over.

i didn't watch SGU so i can't really answer the question, but i think that Disco isn't really damaging to Trek because Trek has already been damaged beyond repair by the decade-plus rolling shitfest that was Voyager, Enterprise and JJTrek. An entire generation grew up with Star Trek being almost exclusively risible garbage, the ONLY people that have come to like Star Trek since the late-90s when DS9 ended are retrofags who enjoy watching old shows and old movies. As bad as Disco is (and it is absolutely atrociously terrible show, and all its spinoffs will probably be just as bad unless Chabon can work actual miracles with Picard show) it can't match that level of damage -- quite apart from the fact that there's only been a couple years of Disco versus fifteen years of shit from the stuff that came before it, there just isn't much left to damage at this point. Star Trek has lost its cultural cachet and is no longer relevant.
