Yes, in my opinion it is, or at least limit your drinking to maybe 2 times a week, and not getting totally blackout drunk. I get the whole boredom thing though, I really do because that is why I would drink, I would be bored. Now I like to ride my bike to the park, go for a jog, watch a movie, read a book. There are plenty of things you can do to substitute for drinking, you just have to figure out what interests you.
