Wtf is wrong with white """people"""
horrorkino was borned
A24 makes awful fucking movies.
This
>another thread shilling this retarded movie
YAY
White """people""" are such savages. Could you imagine being enslaved by them? How pathetic would a race be if they were subjugated by white """people""" for centuries?
Scandis were always well-known for being horribly evil.
Oh man, I was waiting for the /pol/ victim complex to kick in once discussions around this movies started. Prove me right, Yea Forums
It really is just an anthropology movie that is examining major themes and conflicts for modern young adults such as
>mourning/death
>toxic, dead-end relationships
>recreational drug use and dependency
>professional conflict
Which basically boils down to the following:
>faith vs reason
>individualism vs communalism
The film I think makes a pretty biased statement in favor of death and communalism based on the smile at the end of the film.
Curious and willing to engage with people regarding their interpretations.
dey took her
Sorry, not “in favor of death”, but faith instead
god damn get a life, it's just a fucking movie why do you keep spamming these threads? Honestly, fucking kys, you and everyone else that keep posting the same shit like alita or GoT or SW
Fucking nothing for about 2/3 of the movie which is why it's super duper scary.
>its a fake target
>thats why im attacking you
jesus fucking christ /pol/ is really at it again with the victim shit huh? Reminder you faggots are LITERALLY worse than SJW's. I mean you are SJW's, just of the right wing variety
cry more faggots
Yep, the 'Western' world she knew failed her in the time of need which is where, after some shenanigans, the cult stepped in and validated her emotions and existence.
I still have to think about whether I like the movie or not though, it's beautiful but did not really cause a reaction. For certain though the marketing did a diservice to the movie even suggesting that it's a horror. It's fine if the guy wanted to explore other things, Hereditary was fantastic and I would go either way - you don't need to fool me regarding what the movie really is.
There are modern pagans who use torture, murder, and aninal sacrifice in their rituals.
They're black, so they'll never be in an A24 film.
Instead a hatred-consumed Jew makes up fantasy Scandinavians and Americans to put forward as hate objects.
Keep samefagging
Pretty much what I got from it. It's a pretty harsh look at the types of adults society is creating. Essentially about how self involvement and self interest is keeping young people from forming families. I saw it as a failure of Dani and Christian to create a new family relationship that would have allowed her to grieve and move on from the death of her parents due to their various failings.
Agree with everything you said. I really like exploring west in this frame because it really allows us to see how toxic western culture really is and not through some reactionary POV that I always read online
Many of the cults ideas and designs were taken from pagan folklore. I admit that it wasn't an honest representation of paganism, but I'm not looking for that when I'm watching a fictional film.
A character showing happiness due to certain ideas does not imply the filmmaker’s endorsement for those ideas
Stand for nothing, gotcha
Nothing. A bunch of "spooky" cult rituals with no mean and no emotional payoff. I liked hereditary but this was really boring and didn't go anywhere or do anything shocking. The film peaked in the first 10 minutes.
being inside that bear must've been hot
How do you see a character smile and come away with "its a biased statement in favor of death and communalism" you filthy fucking fart huffer.
and yet the movie explores how reactionary ideas/culture can be attractive to people who are lost and vulnerable in society (due to neoliberalism, tragedy, etc) because of the sense of belonging they can provide
Qanon: the movie
It's worth noting that the Americans are depressed and dysfunctional. The Swedes here are upbeat and unified, grieving together as a community while we see early on that Christian keeps his baggage to himself.
I wouldn't say the film is a wholehearted endorsement of communalism, but the Americans do suffer from putting themselves ahead of others. Mark pisses on a tree without asking if there's a bathroom, and Josh sneaks in to get pictures of the book because he wants them for his thesis. He and Christian are also against the idea of collaborating on a thesis and sharing the credit.
The smile to me indicates that she has overcome her grief and trauma, which is good, and she now has a sense of belonging.
What to you is reactionary in regards to the cult. Very curious about your answer.
The "Q user" thing wasn't reactionary or about ideals, it was the belief that there are competant and principled people in the federal bureaucracy.
But was the cult actually empathizing with her or were they just doing it to manipulate her?
well... i'm sorry to hear that...
Yes but by joining a society who bases their traditions on the finger paintings of a retard, commit ritual suicide and live human sacrifice, and force feed pubes and menstrual blood to outsiders they drug in order to breed with to keep their bloodline healthy. She may have found happiness but the film is far from endorsing the village's customs.
It’s about people participating in a community and believing that they have the inside info to make sense of a shitshow playing out publicly every day on twitter
MUH SUPER DOOPER SCARY POL BOOGEY MAN!
t. A24 shill nigger
I just saw the movie and liked it. Wanted to know what others think. Calm down
preserving ancient pagan culture (in syncretic, fictionalized form), practicing a strictly agrarian lifestyle, shunning outsiders and the outside world except through prescribed customs (and a random Austin Powers reference - we never see any technology), avoiring ethnic interbreeding
The Amish are also reactionary by definition
>snow apes
>white
I'm pretty sure the smile is meant to evoke horror.
The smile is intended to indicate that she has been corrupted and her mind is lost, dummy.
Totally forgot about the Austin powers reference. Solid points tho.
I think it’s honest empathy, the scene with all the women crying worked to ease her grief in that moment. A major theme was community engage in feeling feels together. Obviously some of that is performative but because it’s a ritual it makes it authentic and empathetic to me.
Furthermore, I don’t think the smile is an allusion to the common shot of someone descending into madness (the iconic Kubrick shot), because you empathize as a film viewer with her so much.
YOU empathize with her.
I was horrified that she was smiling at a burning house filled with living people (including her boyfriend) screaming in agony.
Does anyone have an image of the mural at the beginning? Or any of the paintings in Dani's apartment?
>mural at the beginning
People keep mentioning this: I don't remember it at all.
Somebody let a nigger use a keyboard.
>Somebody let a nigger use a keyboard.
damn white people be scary
is there anywhere to watch this yet
Why do libshits portray conservatives as transphobic? Just look at this guy.
>avoiring ethnic interbreeding
Pagan dancing
Not enough Bjorn Andrésen
The only reason I watched this is because of Hereditary.
I felt kind of bad in the cinema, like when you show a friend something you think is really cool but then an awkward feelings follows? I'm sure most expected a 'proper' horror.
I don't know why this is getting such horrible reception, seeing tons of normies on Youtube claiming it was the worst movie they've ever seen. I fucking loved this movie. god tier ost
So when the Swedish guy (Pele?) says to Dani that she'll be special (or something like that) did he plan to rig that dancing game so everyone else would run into each other and she'd be queen?
The cliff scene I guess
Found it myself
Is there a good torrent for this yet or are people just watching it at the movie house? It's not out in my country til August but your shilling worked and I want to watch it.
How about the other one with the hairy vag and the scissors?
subverting expectations and not playing to jump-scare supernatural nighttime horror norms, also using humor in unexpected ways
Couldn't help you I'm afraid. Only got that one from the previous thread.
Really excellent.
Not, though, the one someone mentioned with babies and nails.
I've been looking for a couple of hours and I can't find anything, even on sites that already have the new Spiderman camrip
Her bf was a legit burned out sjw trying to Jew someone out of their work
What is a 'good' fucking movie according to you.
Ah, you're right.
He's deserved to be sewn into a dead bear and burned alive.
What was I thinking?
Yea Forums supported it so it was DoA like always
The burning is basically symbolic, not literal. In with the new and out with the old.
Haven't read much about the film but I thought there would be some connection between the names of characters and the Bible?
Christian
Dani = Daniel
Joshua
Mark
Just doesn't seem like a coincidence but I'm not familiar enough with the Bible to say if anything in those books correlates
Thoughts ?
I wouldn’t say he’s that bad, but he definitely is a toxic presence and his death while literal is symbolic
>too much of a pussy to break up with Dani
>steals his friend's thesis
>throws him under the bus as soon as he goes missing
>forgets his girlfriend of 4 years's birthday
>forgets how long they've been together
>cheats on Dani(from her perspective)
He didn't deserve death for what he's done, but it's the type of breakup that made sense to Dani while hopped up on shrooms and the acceptance of a new family.
Being sewn into the bear was meant to be a symbolic act of destroying the bad things present in your life, so that you may be born again (the bear being our animalistic and primitive tendencies)
How about you symbolically burn yourself to free yourself from your past?
Eventually she will, through suicide, when she decides. Like her sister.
Was it rape?
Yes
The point is that it's not symbolic when someone dies
Old boy consented to the drug use, he was asking for it.
He didn't consent to the rune spell or the aphrodisiac menstrual blood hair pie
So there is no way to justify his death, is that right?
Or did he die because he found his flayed friend?
You shouldn’t watch movies.
Were the London couple or at the least the actors that played them Muslim? It's interesting considering that most films casting a token Englishman would have chosen a white actor.
>if a girl takes ecstacy at a party, she is just asking to be raped
Yikes
Pagan tinder, m8
Trying to be cheeky, m80?
No, just comparing apples to apples, bud.
It's probably debatable whether those things actually had any effect on him. I think he wanted to fuck the redhead when he saw her staring at him
I guess it's an interesting question. If the magic was real, he was probably raped. If the magic wasn't real, but he believed it was, was he still raped? Was there coercion involved?
I guess what it comes down to is that he was drugged and misled as to what he was drinking, so he couldn't properly give consent.
Even if he did everything voluntarily, it doesn't justify burning him alive while paralyzed and stuffed into a bear skin
Symbolic for us, yes, not symbolic in the context of the lives of the characters in the movie.
I think he was curious about her: who wouldn't be?
But then he took the drugs, kinda tried not to, but did, and then he was so fucked up that he couldn't give consent.
Possibly. Dani definitely got a full dose of what the other girls were drinking and could've fallen down at any time. The bit at the end where she was talking in Swede might've been where the guy's sister decided to eliminate herself.
>competant and principled people in the federal bureaucracy
ayy fucking lmao
>well wakanda still welcomes you back you fucking nigger.
What if the person who gives it to her says "take this E so its easier for me to rape you later" and she does? Because that's what happened in the movie essentially.
I think he imagined he'd just go off into the trees somewhere with her.
I don't think he imagined in a million years what actually happened.
Here'a question for you: if you interested in someone, and they give you a drug, and then have sex with you while you are completely out of it (as Christian clearly was), is that consensual sex because you kinda liked them? No matter how freaky it gets?
One of the biggest financial flops of the year. A total disaster
>people actually discussing the movie
>TROLOLOL POL MAD xD
That’s not how that works, 9gag.
Horror kino where modern urbanite characters are thrown into a dynamically different setting and confront the sheer emptiness of their culturally-sterilized values
>better to live in a barbaric pube-eating retarded finger-painting human sacrificing savage backwoods village than be an urbanite faggot
This movie is based
A24 doesn't make movies. They only distribute them.
>That’s not how that works, 9gag.
He wanted to fuck her all along. He knew their plans for him. He even fucking glanced over to the girl before taking the drink he WAS EXPLICITY TOLD WAS BEING GIVEN TO HIM TO LOWER HIS INHINITION. Technically what happened was rape in the sense that he was under the influence but in these circumstances he literally wanted it to happen all along. Not in the figurative or victim blaming sense: LITERALLY
Just got out. It was pretty fucking awful
Completely agree
No, he was ambivalent and might not even have been able to get it up without the additional drugs.
>he got pleb filtered
No it was bad. Shit dragged forever. The movie was basically done once they got to pagangate
Within the context that the guy was a druggy; He took drugs for everything. Chilling. Socializing. And finally, sex.
What wrecked the experience for me was the quiet whispering sounds throughout (wtf was ari thinking) and the main girl’s complete inability to act coupled with the fact that she’s built like Danny Devito and was dressed like frump
...Cause now, I will snatch every motherfucker birthday.
Yeah I was surprised how slow it felt considering how much was left out from the screenplay, but ultimately the acting was just garbage compared to hereditary and that was truly disappointing
She was dressed like shit because she was depressed and that’s what girls do, but her acting was legit.
Watch her in lady Macbeth. Holy fuck.
STOP POSTING THIS FUCKING PICTURE REEEEEEEEE
Really excited for this. Guaranteed kino.
Her crying scenes were embarrassingly bad
Dani is dummy thicc
>not "and finally, being paralyzed and sewn into a bear and burned alive."
People like you think Breaking Bad is about how Walter White is a pretty cool guy and doesn’t afraid of anything
Dani took drugs to sleep.
Checkmate
Just saw this movie, now I want to kill white people
She literally has no neck
Where are you from?
I thought Pugh was good but Reynor was awful. Although I thought everything in the first 15 minutes were excellent.
If you’re informed about what’s gonna happen and say you’re cool with it before, during, and after, then there’s no need to question if it was consensual.
If, more like in Christian’s case, there are important details left out of the impression of what they think is gonna happen and they send some very clear signals that they’re not good with what’s going on during, and outright say they were distressed afterwards, then something clearly went wrong.
>A24 makes... movies
>the quality of any movie can be judged by the distributor
how fucking dumb are you people
Didn't they say at the beginning of the movie they were going to a "yodeling festival" Pelle really was a sneaky snake
Do you guys think Heriditary is as great as people say or does it just get praised for standing out in this era and is overrated? People say "it was the best movie of 2018" like the rest of the movies weren't capeshit or crap. Idk. I love horror and have all my life and enjoyed Heridatary but I did think it was THAT GREAT compared to some of the classics. Am I wrong?
What’s the deal with the floaty chair?
I think because it stood out. it's indeed not that special, although the hype made me enjoy the film more because I was a bit on edge expecting some really scary stuff to happen.
It was an enjoyable movie and good in its "horror" genre
>you're making yourself the victim
>now excuse me while I attack you
overall, the average movie with a large enough production around it to reach big audiences and be considered by the academy (oscars is dogshit, I know, but norms still consider it the golden standard of cinema) has simply gotten worse. hereditary was good but what really made it stand out was actually offering something halfway developed instead of a few dozen tropes like in any other current horror movie
It's probably less literally floating and more just high in the image because it's important or godlike. But there's a scene of someone levitating in the trailer that wasn't in the movie, so who knows.
Hereditary was my favorite movie of 2018 , and Midsommar is so far my favorite movie of 2019. It's just my taste, I like movies that have great production and acting, and great production and acting were the strongest features of both of those movies.
>What happened
There was an accident at the based factory and unlike Hereditary which is 100% based it came out with only 70% based purity. But it’s still certified based in my book. Most accurate depiction of hallucinogen visuals I can think of.
And if you didn’t like Hereditary, congrats on your excellent relationship with your mother.
Tbh I liked Gwangju Asylum better than Heriditary as far as horror but I suppose technically it wasn't a better movie just more enjoyable to me for some reason. I liked Midsommar a lot too. I dont feel comfortable saying a movie is "the best" because my interests are pretty narrow.
All this film taught me was that heathens and apostates need to convert or have their shrines to false idols be stained by their own blood.
Darren?
Once again, Yea Forums's predictions were wrong. This film was absolute kino. Probably a greater pleb filter than The Witch. This is more of an advertisement for European paganism than against it. Ari Aster, where the fuck did he come from?! He reminds me of M. Night Shyamalan, but with a vastly more creative and artistic sense. Let's see if he can continue making great horror films without a downfall.
Hereditary wasn't the best of 2018, that's for sure. Mandy was.
I feel like there was more written or shot but a lot was cut from the final product. The characters were incredibly contrived.
>lmao you did this to yourself
>REEE STOP ATTACKING ME
Who are you talking to lol
It was the best horror movie I’ve ever seen. One of the best films in general that I’ve ever seen.
This movie is honestly like a children's sleep over party with no adult supervision. The kids are having sex with each other and eating each others poop and pee.
>only white people can be racist
>white people cant understand how hard it is to be a minority
>racism is privilage plus power
>lmao you did this to yourself
Did what? Exist?
