When I was a teen in the the late 90's and early 2000s I dismissed all so many animated films and shitty kiddy films made for a quick cash in but going back and watching them decades later, they're smartly written and a lot of love went into them.
Cats Don't Dance, A Goofy Movie, Road to El Dorado etc.
Quest for Camelot is still a piece of shit (although I Stand Alone is great)

Really should have been bigger than Toy Story.
It's really an amazing movie. But then even Disney had trouble getting its animated movies to do that well after a while and started depending heavily on its Princess brand to get merchandising going that worked in tandem with the movies.

It had a fucked up low key release because of the AOL/ Time Warner merger which didn't help.
It wouldn't have been a hit but it comparing it to Road to El Dorado and Quest for Camelot's box offices, it probably would have made its money back at least.
