Low budget horror has the benefit of realism.

I was highly disappointed
That's too bad. I found the last few scenes to be very successful. The Leatherface chainsaw dance is something I can still see and hear clearly if I try. Great way to end the film in my opinion.
quite possibly the best use of a hard cut to black in history

The editing is highly effective and frenzied. It really sets it above other horrror films.
Suspense and atmosphere is scarier than gore and kills. This movie had tons of both
Tone, energy and story structure.
