By repeating the aforementioned story beats, at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if AI wrote the storylines.
Heck, in a week I could create a story generator that creates stories like that of season 2 and 3. Just take the same story beats from 1, and mix in bunch things from 80's movies.

First season was brilliant. It had that nostalgic 70's Sci-Fi feel. Then it became a fucking family romcom show with aliens peppered in.

Disagree, there weren't enough subplots this season. Usually there are smaller things going on and it slowly ramps up into a huge catastrophe, where this time every group jumps right into the thick of it. There was a certain "naturalness" to it that isn't good for the longevity of the show, leads to boring plots and flanderized characters.

I don't even remember what happened in season 2, so I don't plan on watching season 3.

I only half remembered S2 before watching, you don't even really need to know it. They explain everything you need to know from the prior season.

Hey that's fine, just saying if you did decide you wanted to watch, you don't have to binge the 1st 2 seasons first. I've only watched each season once when they first dropped and follow everything fine.

It's for the ADHD Netflix kids. The loud sound effects, jump scares, quick cuts, quips, music in every scene like an MTV video. It's everything that the 1st season was not, and the 1st season made the show popular. It was bad enough with the 2nd season, but now they've fucked up tremendously. They're creatively bankrupt. it's a cash grab.
