This is the most boring film I've ever sat through in a movie theater. It is legitimately one of the most boring and uneventful things ever put to screen.

brainlet

I’ve seen Melancholia. This was nothing, you pussy.

Heh you just don't get it kid. Maybe once you grow up a bit you'll understand why this is actually one of if not the scariest movies ever made. Until then stick with Blumhouse flicks.

did it really have to be 2 and a half fucking hours long?

white people be wack the movie

poorfag waiting for a shitty camrip :)

Is it really bro? I love horror and I was curious so I read the plot and it didn’t seem all that....I loved hereditary..what would you criticize about the movie?

It's the ultimate pleb filter

Okay thanks!

minus credits its closer to 2 hours and ten minutes

ignore that idiot. He probably related way too well with the self-absorbed college idiot characters and thought "heh, I'm way smarter than them, it's about grief!"

IMO, the movie is flawed because it does take it's sweet time trying to create a "slow burn" but it just seems like the director indulging in long poor quasi-psychedelic shots using distortion presets from a video editor.

I honestly felt the set up of tragedy and grief was almost a shot by shot plagiarism of Hereditary but sped up and at the start. So if you liked that aspect, it goes out the window pretty fast. The worthless protagonist is weak-willed and just goes through the motions of feeling guilty in a drug-induced stupor or whining that her BF was too much of a pussy to break it off with her.

The black dude was probably the most level-headed character despite being an unethical anthropologist.

You’re gonna miss out on the drug trip effects.

This movie is literally only for whites with an IQ over 110

I love how Yea Forums thought the black guy was gonna fuck some white girl but he just dies.

Yea Forums was wrong again

Pros:
-Outstanding Cinematography
-Outstanding Production Design
-Outstanding Performances from the Actors
-A couple of scenes REALLY work, powerfully
-Great score and sound design
- Immersive establishment of the themes, what I mean is that, in the beginning when scenes are making a connection to a particular theme, let's say, a relationship that no longer works, it's done clearly, now what it is he is trying to say about it is another story.

Cons:
-Atrocious Pacing, could easily be cut down to 90min-2hr this is when the immersion faded for me
-Disconnect from its Marketing, Not a horror movie, and offers virtually no suspense or terror, save a couple of nice reveals. Hereditary balanced this better.
-Themes didn't hit their marks and some characters didn't arc into anything. I felt like some themes of grief, relationships, new beginnings etc were established wow, but I don't really think he nailed or properly conveyed what he(Ari Aster) was trying to say about them. I also feel some characters really just went nowhere, I feel like he was trying to say something with Christian at the beginning, but he turned out to be completely insincere as a character, what I thought was gonna be a character to illustrate the masculine flaws and idiosyncrasies of the themes just turned out to be: Christian bad and dumb boyfriend.

Overall I still have a lot of Confidence in Ari Aster as a filmmaker, but I think he was much more clear with Hereditary, I don't think the pacing/plot development issues juxtaposed with its marketing can be overlooked.

I really really liked the movie.
It was in my oppinion the cultists are all about the understanding human emotion and being able to experiences them fully. This can be represented in the fact that their langauge is still being written, by the inbred child that can give an “unfiltered” view of the emotions.
The cult also operate as a Psuedo-Hivemind, they mirror the emotions of others, and act as if they are their own.
Viewing the cult as more of a hivemind allows forgivness to be easier for them.
All in all my brain is still digesting the movie and it’ll probably be around the 3rd viewing of it that I’ll be able to speak more intelligently

Someone is shilling this 24/7 like euphoria

I liked it, cool cinematography and awesome visuals. It will probably win something for costumes and set design. I also just think pagan rituals look cool. I may even go watch it in theaters again.
