10/10 commander, would follow

A fine example of how (((Hollywood))) was trying to portray white men as weak and pathetic even in the 80s.

But the most competent and the most entertaining characters are white and male, and both the good female characters are crazy masculine

how many drop is this for you, user?

I know right, not a single likable and memorable white male in the movie

Imagine being this guy.

>and both the good female characters are crazy masculine

Daily reminder that Vasquez was portrayed by the same Jewish actress that was John Connor's foster mother in T2.

They used brownface lel

Brainlet, he was the armchair general trope

>What most did not realize at that time, and what many still haven’t figured out, is that Vasquez, a Latino woman, was played in Aliens by Jenette Goldstein, a freckle-faced white actress. It’s a testament to Goldstein’s acting abilities, to say the very least, that most never caught on to the fact that Vasquez was not played by a Latina actress, but what’s worth discussing here is that Vasquez was, well, not played by a Latina actress. In an effort to appear less white, Goldstein was outfitted with dark contact lenses to hide her blue eyes and yes, she was even covered in full face-and-body makeup to cover her white skin.

>“The makeup took an hour,” Goldstein told Starlog Magazine back in 1987, reflecting on the film. “The makeup woman said I had the most ornery freckles she had ever seen. It was freezing cold on the set, and we were oiled up all the time. The fake sweat and water made the makeup run a lot, so it was a toss-up between looking sweatier and having my white skin show through.”

Cameron likes his latinas I wonder why he didn't get one for Vasquez

If the Company's true purpose of the mission was to smuggle an alien specimen off the planet then wouldn't they hire a more competent officer?

I try to take on Hicks persona. Hes so bad ass. Also that look he gives Ripley when she suggests nuking the place from orbit is KINO.

this is more a post-Vietnam conception of privileged Officers

>Jenette Goldstein, a freckle-faced white actress.
>white actress
Kikes, ladies and gentlemen.

perhaps not as much of a selection as there is now, at least for what he needed and was looking for in the character. he seemed to like her enough too as be brought her back for a role in terminator 2 and titanic.

This.

In a good unit, Apone, being the platoon sergeant, serves as a balance to the platoon leader and would prevent him from making decisions that are so stupid as to endanger the entire force.

How come no one thought before hand that they could not fire they pulse rifles and smart guns in the power plant? Not even the droid?

If aliens came out today it would be torn apart on the net.

Bishop was their real man on the inside, everyone else was just fodder

What was his fucking problem?

are you talking about burke? okay so this has been debated for a long time, burke was likely the first point of contact between ripley and the comapny upon her return, just how much he turned over to the company is up for debate (lifeboat logs and possibly any residue from the alien aboard the lifeboat) as is the company's stance on the alien due to it being 50+ years after the nostromo was lost for good. using only the movie as a source and none of the extended media material which packs in a lot of extra stuff like ash living aboard her lifeboat in the computer as well as ripley being awoken between the events of alien and aliens by another ship. from burke's talk to ripley when she finds out about his message to the colony to go investigate the site it seems as though his plan is to smuggle them back in and sell them off to the company, either implying the company as a whole doesn't really know much about it beyond that it might exist, just a small few within the company perhaps or that there's been a major restructuring following the events of the first film and no one except perhaps burke who went digging through company files looking for info about the nostromo really knows what's going down. he likely leveraged this with whoever his boss/bosses was to get authority to investigate with the promise that if it did exist it would bring tons of wealth to everyone. that's assuming the colony wasn't set up as a dummy front to actually slowly make the planet habitable so that finding the ship would be easier even if it took generations for this to happen. that's something we also will likely never know from the films alone. in a way burke was perfect for the role, he was a go getter and willing to do things outside the law to bring one back but also not high ranking enough that he himself wasn't expendable if things didn't work out, just like the marines and the nostromo crew

bishop gets torn to pieces
that's not a particularly good failsafe

have sex

>partner at weyland
>senior director at yutani
>the only representation of the company seen in the film
>is trusted with the mission across the galaxy
>is delegated control over the planet, the space ship, the colony, all the marines, nukes and scientists
>is allowed to change the mission at a moments notice dependent on information arising in the heat of the moment mixed with his decision making
>heroically stays behind and sacrifices himself with a nade to destroy the xeno inside him and the xenos hunting ripley and the child
>only 26 years old

sheiiitttt bro, what a burn

You always were an asshole gorman

i watched aliens for the first time as a kid, this guy comes on screen and my uncle just says "oh this guy is a RAT"

i've never been able to unhear that everytime i think of or see Burke

What are we supposed to use, harsh language?

>Aliens over 30 years old
>Alien 40 years old

Do these count as vintage classics now?

I like to keep this handy, for close encounters.

what a boomer statement

I'm more jealous of Bale IRL during American Psycho.

Too right mate.

Boomers tend to be based as fuck.

How rude

Using the incinerators for suppressive fire and falling back the right call, the platoon was just unable to execute because they were surrounded.
