What the fuck was the point of this scene?

What the fuck was the point of this scene?

Furry porn

Ratcheting up the insanity, madness and terror.

it's a reference to a scene in the movie The Shining. i know, i thought it was a weird allusion for a 30 seconds to mars music video but that jared leto is a creative fella

What's the point of your existence?

It symbolises Wendy’s fear that Jack molested Danny.

It's unsettling and demonstrates Wendy's hallucinatory state crashing down on her.

Or the Overlook is letting down all barriers to reveal its true horror nature. Unconventional erotic practices are part of the uncanny.

I'm not sure it's a hallucinatory state. Shit is legtimately happening and hitting the fan at that point.

>Or the Overlook is letting down all barriers to reveal its true horror nature

It's basically this, the hotel is feeding on Danny's shining and getting stronger over time. In the novel the final day in the hotel, when all the shit is going down, is described as the hotel being "completely alive"

BURY ME BURY ME

>It symbolises Wendy’s fear that Jack molested Danny.
huh interesting take.

I always thought it was wendy's horror-vision of heir own sex life/future aging sex with Jack the way Jack meets the rotting old woman in the bath.

scare the shit out of kids watching it late at night

homsexuality is inherently creepy

I dont know but one of the few things kid me and adult me can agree on is it's the scariest thing in the film for whatever reason. Just looks unsettling I suppose.

literally how does one translate to the other?

isn't it hinted that this scandal took place in the hotel prior to Jack's family staying? I thought it was always just a ghost thing

it's been a long time since I've seen this though

it's bullshit, the shining is the most overinterpreted movie of all time

see Room 237

>mfw i realize this is a pretty good reaction image

Attached: bear.png (624x460, 421K)

Bingo
This. Weird stuff just to make you feel weird

the only scandal that's directly mentioned is the family murder of the wife and children by previous groundskeeper grady

Everyone in that docu is legit a schizo though, so you can't really say that.

It's not homosex it's bestiality

>Kubrick is a master filmmak-

>huh interesting take.

It's extremely heavily implied in other scenes between Jack and the kid... and other stuff like set decorations. Look up Rob Ager's or Collative Learning videos on the Shining. Very insightful.

benis

In the book it'd hop from different timelines when the ghosts were alive, and at one point it goes on into detail about this gay blowjob shit. I think Kubrick wanted to throw it in with no details just for shock.

beardog blowjob don't you get it its like proto furry porn

:DDDDD

>you don't know if the ghosts were real or not!!!
then who opened the door retard?

Attached: 1401142531187.jpg (222x216, 9K)

Big thing in the book was a party that the rich folks had back in the day in the hotel, with all kinds of degeneracy. They were wearing animal masks, dogs, bears and such, animals u know. Then they were doing drugs, fucking around, pissing on the floor, really degenerate shit.

That party was still going on in the book when the hotel was "fully alive" at the end after feeding on Danny's shining for weeks. It's pretty good actually. No idea if it's elsewhere referenced in the movie or if it's just this gay furry action that's a direct reference to the party

The shitty 1997 TV miniseries produced by King himself shows it

>see Room 237
>look up Rob Ager's or Collative Learning videos on the Shining. Very insightful.
literally the most NPC post possible is to not explain shit and just shill for someone else's explanation
seriously you should feel bad for making these posts if you actually feel anything

These people will seriously tell you that Wendy didn't close it properly or that Danny opened it off screen because he felt guilty

It's both.
Many twists and turns to Kubes work, the rollercoaster will take you as far as you can hold on, but just as you let go, you lose the meaning.
I just like to strap in and enjoy the ride.

>what is the point of this scene?
Does there really have to be a point in the scene if it works?

Nah, they were actually alive. They just had invisibility cloaks and were just fucking with the family.

We never see how Jack escapes. Maybe Wendy didn't secure the lock.

I was being ironic, those aren't explanations, it's collective paranoid schizophrenia. I've read the book a thousand times and explained it myself

the elevator of blood was still fake, wasnt it?

poetry

I know what this is referring to and I have no idea how youre relating it to this scene

to scare 10 year old me

>making this into an argument about canonicity
no one cares about the steven king source material ffs.

>people actually read Stephen King drivel
Might as well read Harry Potter or watch capeshit. Kubrick is good, not the source material.

didn't kubrick fuck steven king's wife?

I had to read the novel and watch the miniseries in high school.

Shadup you only dislike him is because he’s lefty retard, some of his books are good

>why does this scene work?
does it really have to work if it gets its point across?

Attached: brainlet.png (235x214, 7K)

Eh, it's one of his better books. No Salem's Lot, but better than shit like Under the Dome

>talking about books in a Yea Forums thread

Attached: brainlet2.jpg (750x1000, 48K)

There are a lot of good leftist authors. King is shit regardless of his political views.

>fucking men

Attached: bobby says no.gif (267x200, 729K)

>Under the Dome
I think this is a pretty good idea for a story. Anything else like it
>inb4 the Simpsons Movie

>good idea for a story
literally the only thing of value steven king makes,
which is why there have been a few good movies

>not having a head or neck
not based desu

Too bad the show was also filler garbage.

>1408 exists
The movie is a million times better than kings story

It started off strong but yes it really didn't go anyway and just wasted my time after a while.

fetish

Nope.

>why does the scene work?
The scene works due to the unexpected imagery in comparison to the rest of the film. There's not a way in which the scene "cannot" work, as it is only a few seconds long and doesn't carry any negative consequence to the plot. Arguing about whether that scene really needs to be explained, needed, or even put in the film at all is fruitless, since you're already under the sway of trying to wrap your head around it. You see, user? That scene just took effect on you while having jack shit to do with plot, characters, or the impact of the story (hence, the scene worked).
>yfw autists need this spoonfed to them

>are ya winning so-

Attached: secretshot.jpg (2458x1452, 873K)

This is Zack Snyder level deep kinomatography.

>Schitzos will tell you this is a secret message left by Stanley Kubrick, not understanding that this is simply a technique he liked to employ in his films.

One point perspective is used to focus on a specific area of a shot that is required most attention.

What the fuck is that scene center left?

Are you serious?

2001, you faggot.

2001:a space odyssey

Attached: image0-3.jpg (540x540, 25K)

Thanks Gramps, never seen that one.

im pretty sure we're the same age

Reminder that most theories/Analysis of Stanley Kubrick movies are made by literal schitzos or psueds

Attached: ZJ3bRyDLz-9-fUefVGsAceZuTInCUYTijSGF6WORfzc.png (799x768, 598K)

you fucking shithead

Huh. And what age would that be?

Yeah I know a lot of people like that movie but is not having seen it really that big a deal?

To creep teenage me out.

Seriously, only part of the movie that had me terrified

>the source material has no relevance to potential meaning in an adaptation

Attached: 1549060891137.png (1280x720, 867K)

Kubrick said that is the point in the film when you cannot believe anything but the ghosts being real as opposed to before.

Have sex

Based Kubrick dabbing on the Illuminati and their weird sex cult shit like in eyes wide shut. Also subtlely exposes that he filmed the moon landing in this, Kubrick was fucking based

t. brainlet.

It's a film entirely about death.

before I looked up explanations, I just found this little scene disturbing. It happens so quickly, I had to pause it to see what was going on. That just made it more creepy. It's a nice touch.
I could be wrong but I remember something similar playing a bigger part in the tv adaption of the book. I think someone wore a wolf mask or I'm confusing that movie Creep in amongst it.

see

ahh thanks, buddy

Did none of you see the axe left in their with him?

Why would Mr. Kubrick, an avowed National Socialist, help out with A/B testing?

you can't open a door like that from the inside with an axe idiot, it's not a wooden door or anything. it's thick enough to keep the cold in

Maybe the door was a metaphor

Kubrick trying to copy Lynch

kek

why would she be afraid of that? danny was ugly. what's the point in molesting an ugly kid?

>"At long last. I've finally become The Shining"
Really Kubrick? Well, what did it mean?

The true Shining was the friends we made along the way.

Jack married Wendy, do you seriously think he has any standards?!

Stop being mentally ill

BRAVO KUBRICK DOES IT AGAIN THE SHINING IS SO DEEP!!!!!!

Dilate

Thing is that Stanley also disliked faggots. Their interpretation is weighty.
Leave Yea Forums. It is not for your kind.

>WE WUZ KINO

>that autist that mentions Ager videos in every Shining thread
Someone mention Room 237 so he can REEEEEE like a turboautismo

Ager and all those types of based retards who over-analyze films are entertaining, though. Whether they're right or not is irrelevant. Lighten up.

reaching as fuck, you can do same shit with Tommy Wiseau the Room, you idiot
