I'd like to see someone else make it. Thanks user.

OP is Rian Johnson and he's turning to Yea Forums for ideas for his trilogy because he's an unoriginal hack

everything is fought with drones

Any boat kino redone but in space would make me diamonds

Attached: AE838391-3CCD-4557-952C-4272F7632742.jpg (700x300, 199K)

But space warfare is nothing like naval battles.

Me too, but no one has made a good one yet.
I already have ideas, just trying to see what the Yea Forums audience wants.
Drones are still mass you have to carry into space. You might as well carry missiles instead.

>You might as well carry missiles instead.
Missiles are the drones

fought in many space battles, captain faggot?

>OP is Rian Johnson and he's turning to Yea Forums for ideas for his trilogy because he's an unoriginal hack

That or D&D.

big capital ships firing at each other, less starfighters

Show how it'd accurately be:

>Unmanned vessels launching building-sized missiles at each other over vast distances

If I do it like naval battles, it'd end up like shitty Star Wars and syfy tier shit where ships go broad side at each other at CQB range. It's stupid. Space is huge, and weapons have tremendous range.
I want something different.

I'm going the realism route. Didn't want to put it in the OP in order to gauge Yea Forums's tastes.

not him but modern naval battles are ships firing at each with supersonic missiles from 100s of kms away

Large scale starship battle tactics, 1800s navy inspired

>3 dimensional warfare
>durr shud be like naval batle

Attached: 1532908508795.jpg (926x694, 29K)

navies fight in three dimensions, faggy o'nig

Actual space combat:

>Earth vs. Mars or w.e
>Both sides lob nuclear Interplanetary Ballistic Missiles at each other
>Each side uses various countermeasures to try and stop the others strikes on them including EW, Cyberwarfare, decoys, orbital defense satellites, unmanned interceptors, etc

Actually use the third dimension in creative ways

An entire cast of trannies and niggers.

I'd like to see something kinda like LotGH, but where the scale makes more sense. Ships ramming into each-other every battle got old when destroyers and up had a kill range of 10 light seconds.
Aside from that it makes a lot of sense, massed firing lines with knife fighting carrier strike groups. Lots of ECM warfare too.

Attached: 1507851131988.jpg (1680x1050, 217K)

complete fucking silence until something hits your ship. all those fucking sound effects ruin it.

SPACECRAFT DO NOT GO "WHOOOOSH" THROUGH SPACE.

sounds like "The Expanse".

A battle through every phase of taking control
>Ships arrive into system
>Whatever local systems defenses are destroyed
>Each planet and moon's exterior space is taken
>Resources of each used
>Local phenomenon used for battle advantage
>Various hyperspace routes cut off from reinforcing
>Finally descend into land battles

>being so autistic you get mad about sound in space in movies

Attached: test.webm (730x515, 495K)

Probably the dumbest thing about LotGH was the massed firing lines. In reality that tactic would result instant annihilation of whoever had fewer ships and 90% casualties on the other side.
It's the equivalent of giving your troops assault rifles and then having them shoot at each other from 30 yards in Napoleonic musket formations.

>30 yards
that's a funny way of saying 10+ light seconds, the edge of their lethal range.

Intradasting. But how is it different from air or submarine battles?

Intergalactic bounty hunters riding around on surf boards. The surf boards should have rainbow streaks behind it. They joust with energy shields and lances.

You're trying to be clever, but you're actually pointing out how suicidal those tactics would be.

If everyone is shooting lasers at each other and the lasers have a lethal range of 10+ light seconds, then even if you fire the split second you get into range, you still die because your target has 10 seconds to shoot back and kill you. In a non-anime universe the tactic would be used once, result in total losses on both sides and then immediately be abandoned for maneuver tactics.

If the ships have zero maneuverability grouping makes sense

No it doesn't at all. It just makes the ship design an inadequate flying coffin.
Designing the ships that can change vectors while still keeping their guns on target is what actually makes sense and would instantly btfo of a static firing line.

you obviously haven't watched the show or put a second of thought into this: the accuracy at that range is so low that large scale formations firing at each other works

I know nothing about the show but if the ship tech simply doesn't allow for that level of maneuverability then there is nothing to be done.

The expanse is for you.

What wasn't explained in the anime but was touched on in the books was how much ECM played into these battles. Every last ship mounted extremely powerful jammers that could basically blind entire star systems if you congregated enough of them together, and it was so commonplace on both sides to just run with them on all the time that when the Imperial blockade at El Facil saw Yang evacuating the civilian fleet without their jammers on, the radar officers assumed they were passing meteorites and didn't bother to investigate (which I believe was a scene in Spiral Labyrinth). This also effects targeting systems for the beam cannons so both sides are reliant on simply pointing in the enemy's general direction and hopping for a hit.

During full fleet battles all ship-to-ship communication is done either by messenger shuttle (delaying order transmission by flight and docking/receiving time) or by single ship-to-ship laser comms, which is extremely slow. The battles play out like Napoleonic line warfare because they can't relay orders quickly across their entire formation, which results in days-long slugging matches with only a few formation changes every hour.

Attached: BattleofVermillion.webm (640x480, 2.02M)

What are submarines and aircraft?

not in the 1800s minus a couple exceptions

I was thinking the Hunt for Red October.

BVR engagements.
Formation battles.
Juggling between point defense and offense fire. Maybe ship classes dedicated to one or the other instead of both.

>muh accuracy, muh ECM
So predictable.

If you look at the design of the ships, the guns can't fire anywhere but straight ahead, so to be able to hit another ship you have to be sitting directly in the line of fire as well. Light travels in a straight line, yanno?
More so, if you're going to use the ol' muh accuracy, muh ECM excuse, then you probably should look at how far the formations are spaced and start wondering about how the fuck anybody is hitting anything if they're just shooting directly ahead without aiming for specific targets. Like, what are the chances of lining your guns up with a ship 5 or 10 light seconds away (either through eyeballing with telescopes or pure luck) in that amount of space if magic anime jamming is stopping you from acquiring your target with sensors? Astronomically low is what.

logth has standard anime physics where ships and fighters can do instant turns and stop on a dime while traveling at incredibly high speeds. There is no internal logic that forces the capital ships not to be able to maneuver.

Attached: 55e2c947d980038123a572ed52a6b13d.jpg (640x480, 22K)

>the guns can't fire anywhere but straight ahead
wrong, they have a limited firing arc
>so to be able to hit another ship you have to be sitting directly in the line of fire as well
only if they're facing you.
>Like, what are the chances of lining your guns up with a ship 5 or 10 light seconds away
pretty much the same as if you're trying to aim it at an individual target

Having the main guns mounted pointing forward allows you to have a smaller silhouette (and less of a chance to get hit) than whatever you're suggesting, idk, an independent turret for weapons that run a quarter the length of the ship?

Attached: 1473995345157.gif (500x281, 1.47M)

Hence why they end up fighting these battles over the course of an entire day, or more frequently, days. They're spamming lasers the entire time and failing to hit at all the points we don't see animated, and the only way to break stalemates like those is to play massed formation games like simple breakthroughs or Invincible Semicircles.

Attached: Tlahuixcalpentecuhtli.jpg (640x478, 41K)

That stuffs cool you're either a massive faggot or even worse a woman

Evil space Nazis but get this, they're niggers

>can't aim
You're literally shown the gunners aiming.

I always thought the thing in Ender's Game was interesting, where each nation had super powerful shields making nukes no longer as relevant.
Also all the other shit is neat
>Doctor Device
>Super long travel times
>Easy planet destruction

Inertia

How can a LASER be innacurate? Lasers might be literally the most accurate thing permissible by the laws of physics.

Id rather just play homeworld remastered. But anything like Red October in space I would probably watch.

Dogfights between space aces.

Attached: 1497880685197.gif (300x300, 2.11M)

Until you hit a big bag of unpopped popcorn and it pops and destroys your house when you aimed for a target far away.

>wrong, they have a limited firing arc
Meaning what? At no point in the show do we see any of the capital ships actively using that firing arc on the battle line. Cool fanfic though.

>only if they're facing you.
They're always facing each other. Entire episodes revolve around both sides running away if they can't go head to head or trying to spear head through enemy lines.

>than whatever you're suggesting, idk, an independent turret for weapons that run a quarter the length of the ship?
Or how about maneuvering your ship after firing a salvo so that the enemy can never get a bead on you? If the ships are using area fire bombardments to try to hit a ship, why wouldn't you shoot and scoot your platform in the several seconds you have before they shoot back? You know, like artillery has been doing since the 1940s? It's just basic common sense that the tactics aren't logical even in the context of the show's arbitrary limitations.

>They're spamming lasers the entire time and failing to hit at all the points we don't see animated
Which makes even less sense for them to go head to head without maneuvering in their little box.

It’s all a war of attrition. At long range it’d just be ships trying to swamp the enemy’s anti-missile countermeasures by firing large barrages of missiles simultaneously. Whoever can fire the most missiles wins. At medium range railguns come into play. A good tactic could be to swamp your enemy with so many missiles/railgun slugs that moving into any direction will still result in a hit, albeit a small one. Again, it's a war of attrition, where whoever can survive the longest whilst still firing back wins. This will all be performed automatically by AI, most likely. At short range, lasers become viable, which, due to traveling at the speed of light, cannot be effectively dodged, and cannot be countermeasured. The only way to avoid a laser is to move pre-emptively, making the assumption that the laser will be aimed in your current path, and so constantly changing your trajectory so that it cannot be predicted. At this range your effective mobility is drastically decreased, as you cannot hold the same trajectory for perhaps more than a few seconds. The enemy would likely try to swamp you with slugs, which you can see, so as to force you into their laser path, which you cannot. And still, missiles are everywhere.

Basically, it’s a war of attrition run by AI. Whoever has the highest ship tonnage is likely going to win, as they’re going to have the best countermeasures, and the most weaponry. Manoeuvrability is obviously beneficial, but the ability to overcome a CWIS system would be necessary to be able to inflict any damage at all, and so smaller ships are going to be easily outperformed. Smaller ships can accelerate faster, though, so they’d still have a military purpose.

Also, drones. Maintaining human life requires expensive/heavy things like life support, and radiation shielding. Smaller ships are almost certainly going to be unstaffed.

Rev. Space art mildly related.

One thing I always liked about Gundam, that I never really notice anywhere else besides recently in Expanse, is how much fucking work it takes to get from point A to point B when you're juggling acceleration, gravity, supplies and enemy activity. I know it's all space fantasy, but even just fifteen seconds of the characters quickly discussing how they're going to move those five million kilometers does a lot to sell a setting.

For that matter, I like that in Gundam they have to be very careful about their approach vectors towards planets to avoid burning up. Gundam is a good franchise.

Ships meeting on different orbital planes could rapidly rotate to face each other, but they would still be traveling on different orbits.
Realistically out-of-plane burns are extremely expensive in terms of delta-v, and depending on the exact parameters can require massive thrust. Assuming you have a magic engine with nigh unlimited delta-v and extremely high thrust, such extreme burns could induce g-forces that would incapacitate or kill the crew.

why do you call acceleration delta v?

youtube.com/watch?v=lvB2nRGMl2c

They're different things

>warships can only fire forward

youtu.be/qjWEGlot35Y

v = velocity
delta (Δ) = change
delta-v (Δv) = change in velocity

acceleration is rate of change in velocity
delta-v is total change in velocity

they aren't. acceleration is delta v over delta t. are you ignoring time? v is velocity which is on your image. velocity is the same thing with position, that is the derivative of position. delta x (if x plane) over delta t.

FUCK DARK MATTER

I actually like LoGH's Napoleonic Warfare in space aesthetic. I also believe that it was Yoshiki Tanaka's intention to set up it's space combat in such a way that the genius or the incompetence of the commanders play an enormous role in the outcome of an engagement.

I love how the space ships can perform their 18th century equivalents of

>Artillery Bombardment
>Bayonet/Cavalry charge
>Supply line raiding
>Corps coordination a la Napoleon's Marshals

youtube.com/watch?v=Am7EwmxBAW8&t=1543

Real space battles would be a lot like submarine warfare, only with no chance to surface. Quick, horrifying, and brutal once action happened, paired with agonizingly long wait times between firing missiles/railguns etc and contact with the target. Ships would engage each other at far range with projectile salvos, it might take weeks to know if you’d hit the enemy or been hit yourself. Imagine das Boot in space, pure kino

Here's your (You). Stop being a dumbass

Based. Reminds me of Midway and Coral Sea where both the Japanese and the US were fumbling to grasp and develop the basic tenets of carrier warfare in the Pacific. Logistics, air wing maintenance, and flight deck management all played major roles in defeat and victory and it might seem boring to some but you can probably feel the tension of the carrier crew when the deck was loaded with exposed fuel lines and bombs and they were constantly checking the skies for bogeys.

He was good in single day battles but failed to change when battles became longer multidays things.

Gun Buster did this well in the first battle where the MC is deployed where she cannot see shit yet hears her comrades's desperate cries while they are taken down one by one by an unseen enemy because it is going so fast. I wanna see huge battleships with broadsides bristling with massive cannons fucking blasting holes in each other. Lasers are over hyped.

Also the main thing that's missing from space battles in movies is debris. It'd be neat to have a long running battle where eventually there's just a massive debris field to have to navigate and fire through.

The Honor Harrington series, they shoot off a broadside of missiles and then the captain has some ta and takes a nap waiting 4 hours to see if they hit. The ship manors at speed on a curve 1AU wide

it stupid and the movie was bad
however i like this it looks cool

Massive capital ships slugging it out.

BSG still has some of my favorite space battles. I think the best part is all the little details, extras running around, talking, working at consoles, the radio chatter and milspeak makes it feel real despite the aging CG.

WHOOOOOSH

I'd have it start out as this hard-SF asskicking action flick. Then it abruptly shifts gears as it turns out the aliens are only taking female prisoners and it turns into a spectacular NC-17 rapefest. The director's cut would be unrated, and include full penetration with special action tentacle-cam action. The BluRay sales alone would make me wealthy beyond my wildest dreams.

So... ALIEN meets Wing Commander meets your favorite hentai, basically.

Wrong neighborhood for that, user. Star Trek DS9 is decent and a bit dark and edgy, could try that.

The Expanse does a blend of realistic and unrealistic regarding sound.

Sometimes they have fairly realistic silence or muffled sounds through the hull/etc. They even explain that belters have naturally integrated sign language into their speech because of the need for vacuum communication, and characters press their helmets together to speak when their radios are down.

Other times, particularly for big battles and such, they take all the artistic liberties they want to make the scenes more exciting.
For example watching that silent webm with no sound is a lot less exciting than the actual scene.

Cool. Sound in space can be explained because it's showing what the people hear inside of ships. But rule of cool stands.

Nothing on the theoretical table is able to make magic sci fi shields. Sorry bro.

a field, a la forcefield, is possible. Imagine a reverse gravity field

How are they going to make space battles without droid operated small ships kimakazing battleships now?

Yeah you just need negative mass which no one even knows if it exists, then if it's actually real, find a way to make the reverse gravitational field around your entire ship tens thousands of times stronger than Earths, without exerting force inside, ripping the ship apart and pasting the crew. Then you might be able to stop a rifle round, but a laser will go straight through anyway.

Welcome to December 2017

Attached: admiral gender studies.png (815x611, 434K)

Cuz he is based on Alexander and became admiral cuz his sister fucks the emperror

Would it be possible to manipulate gravity in a way that light bends around it?

not him but if you could do as you suggested you could deflect lasers fairly easily. Sure the laser will follow a straight trajectory, but it'll be doing it through warped and distorted spacetime. Its basically how light can't escape a blackhole, all geometrical paths lead to the singularity.

Well, he did put star wars in the position that all future space battles are going to be extremely retarded or TLJ is to be considered non-canone.

The sun exerts a fractional bending of light, so sure if you could produce hundreds-thousands of suns worth of antigravity maybe.

See above, you are talking about stellar level energies on a small ship. If this is theoretically possible then the weapons technology will be so far advanced from slugs and lasers that it would be like wearing armour into a gunfight. A civilisation capable of that level of energy control and miniaturisation would be throwing micro black holes, relativistic missiles, antimatter missiles, shit like that.

Rape. Alien on nubile screaming blond rape.

Oh I know that, the whole premise is so far scifi that is may as well be called magic for now and left at that. I was simply pointing out to you when you said a laser would penetrate it that it couldn't necessarily do so.

this isn't farscape. Farscape is SHIT

I think sci-fi is more fun if it's a bit "magical."

Remarkably based

This. Only the drones are made from the greatest human beings alive via a organism that is able to completely restructure a being from the ground up into almost whatever you can imagine. And then they're powered and controlled by children that have been to another dimension and touched the essence of an other worldly entity and been scarred by it on every level possible and having returned from the trip with bizarre powers. Then seal them into stasis while keeping their minds active so they are no longer a danger to others but can interact with world through the drones. Creating immortal warrior children.

Isn't that Warframe?

It's a shame that is was something so shit that they put all the effort into making look so good.

Lasers only travel at the speed of light, if you're already using them as a viable weapon in space it means you're bullshitting hard already so FTL is a thing too meaning you're just essentially shooting bullets at the Flash and trying to predict where he is while you're in the middle of a stroke.

Since you might be slow I'll clarify: lasers are actually slower than ships in these scenarios.

Uh-doy

"Lasers" also attenuate.

No one ever walking throughout the movie everyone floating to get around

Ah yes one of the moments that proved Star Wars was dead once and for all.

Somehow nobody in the history of the universe thought to use kinetic hyperdrive weaponry before. Yup. Amazing. Women are geniuses!

>weeks
My guess would be that is exaggerated. If you're light days away, is there any point to firing anything? Any missile or drone style weapon would have to either be more akin to an advanced AI ship that could strategize fairly well against a manned vessel or you would have to throwing out a massive salvo of dumber stuff to try to cover all the variables on a relatively stationary target and just praying that something gets through with a lot of luck.

You are the same faggot that wants "realistic aliens" LMAO

I hate to say it but Star Wars has satisfied my desire for space battles. The Prequel Trilogy has too damn much if anything.

?? Based on what?

Yeah and space is also filled with shit you can't see which wrecks their effectiveness as well.

Facts ruin the fun of all this.

> what would you like to see?
Lots of math and sensor based combat beyond the visible range of the enemy fleet.

I'd like a point to be made about ballistic weapons and a "terminal range" from enemy ships that once crossed makes it impossible to evade their fire, with the battles themselves playing out like an elaborate version of chicken, kind of like how line infantry combat worked in the musket era with either sides formations steadily marching closer and their fire becoming deadlier.

>y guess would be that is exaggerated. If you're light days away, is there any point to firing anything?

No. Both sides would try to remain undetected while trying to detect the enemy. If you found the enemy you'd try to get as close as possible before firing.

>Since you might be slow I'll clarify: lasers are actually slower than ships in these scenarios.

At that point, why not have FTL torpedoes?

Creative tactics, fighters using the properties of the vacuum to their advantage, advanced technologies that people would use in an actual space battle (get some brainstorming on this shit), not the same old star wars/star trek stuff.

>implying it's not almost instantaneous
>implying FTL isn't a thing
Have you seen/heard about those crazy objects that accelerate to ridiculous speeds and do 90 degree turns in the blink of an eye?
A fight with those would be over pretty quickly.
I bet it's all energy weaponry too.

>das Boot in space
I hope someone will do that one day.

Attached: Balance of Terror.jpg (777x437, 60K)

Of course, but you wouldn't be firing anything until you could confirm they were within a certain range. At a range of light days away, a lot of things will happen before your weapon can reach target. Larger distances means more time for the target to spot and react, so you would have to have some way to counter an incalculable amount of variables at those distances. So if you fire anything, it has to take a whole lot of variables into account. You can reduce the variables in a number of ways, but that distance (16,090,000,000 - about 5 times further than the sun is from Pluto), I can not fathom a way to reduce that number of variables. That stuff is hard to do even if you know the exact trajectory of an object.

also unironically Serenity did a very cool medium/low orbit battle, albeit brief

Attached: serenity.jpg (1218x685, 360K)

And that is only one light day, so that would mean it would be a few days tops before you could get good confirmation. Multiply that by however many days you want to get into the realms of light weeks.

not just that but the maneuvering.
expanse does this a little with their little injectors, but in forever war all personel on board had to be put in special suits and submerged in a kind of liquid before the AI could take any real evasive action, because otherwise making any kind of turn at .5c would liquify the crew

I want to see something that throws away all the rational ideas about real-life space combat and instead make something interesting

Nobody wants to see ships that can't even see each other visibly plinking away at each other with relativistic weapons like a giant game of space Battleship. Battleship sucks.

I want to see capital ships with giant laser cannons engaging at distances of 100m, I want to see boarding parties, I want to see clouds of fighters swarming around

I want the lasers to be visible and colourful, I want there to be sound in space

legit how would real space battles go with decent sized ships? how would they look and fire? no crazy magic weapons but lets stay tech anywhere from 300 years from now. How do you fire without sending you ship barreling another direction?

Wouldn't battles be able to take place over basically the entire length of a solar system?

I've always wanted to see humans go up against some kind of purely biomechanical alien species that can withstand the vacuum of space. Ever seen the tyrannids in WH40K? like them, with ships/organisms with giant tentacles that could just rip the other guy's ships apart and vent their atmosphere to space. It's interesting because humanity has all these protocols and layers of protection preventing exposure to the elements, all very highly organized, and then on the other side of the spectrum you have these biomechanoid monstrosities that can shrug off all the radiation and ridiculous temperature extremes, and even if you damage one of their ships, you just end up spilling more dangerous organisms into the battle. I'd imagine they probably use gas created in the breakdown of their food (humans) as fuel for their propulsion, and they'd probably use a lot of chemical weapons, and throwing asteroids at the biggest targets.

Thanks bois. I didn't expect to get this many replies on an actual film discussion thread. AYY LMAO

OH MY GOD THAT'S SOME FUNKY SHIT

>bois

Uhhh we're all girls here?

Zerg?

>large scale ship tactics

That's a battleship you dummy.

Space battles like these would never be tolerated just due to the shear loss of life. I suspect most space battles that would attempt to be fought like this would be destroyed by things like mines and smaller stealthier hunter/killer type ships. It would be impossible to wield such a fleet without invoking the ire of regular people.

>BUT THEY HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF FUCKING UP CHINA
Lol no, prior to the modern age they got their asses beat in every conflict they engaged in with the Chinks. Everyone was fucking up China in the 19th/20th century.

Dispersion payloads (basically big shotguns) at near relativistic speeds and directional evasion at super extreme ranges until one side flees, runs out of ammo/fuel or scores a lucky hit and destroys the enemy.

Not familiar with those guys, but I hear they resemble xenomorphs/tyranids, so they probably fit the bill.

why didn't it flip or roll? it's not supposed to do that

I'd like to see contrived interracial relationships and unresolved plot points.

IMO BSG did a pretty good job with the soundscape during battles. Everything was pretty much a low rumble except for when cylon ships did their WEEEUW flyby sound. It might sound stupid but having something to listen to helps the general audience follow along whats happening because that shit can get chaotic.

>near relativistic speeds
I'm legit curious because I'm trying to make a very accurate fairly low budget film, have investors and film peeps interested. Made indies before.

>Mandella, with fellow soldier, lover and companion Marygay Potter, returns to civilian life, only to find humanity drastically changed. He and the other discharged soldiers have difficulty fitting into a society that has evolved almost beyond their comprehension. The veterans learn that, to curb overpopulation, which led to worldwide class wars caused by inequitable rationing, homosexuality has become officially encouraged by many of the world's nations. The world has become a very dangerous place due to widespread unemployment and the easy availability of deadly weapons. The changes within society alienate Mandella and the other veterans to the point where many re-enlist to escape, despite the extremely high casualty rate and their recognition that the military is a soulless construct. Mandella and Potter receive promised postings as instructors on Luna, but upon arrival are immediately reassigned to a combat command.

>Almost entirely through luck, Mandella survives four years of military service, while several centuries elapse in real time. He soon becomes the objectively oldest surviving soldier in the war, attaining high rank through seniority rather than ambition, as he is essentially a pacifist who acts mostly from talent and a melancholic sense of duty. He and Potter (who has remained his last link with the Earth of his youth) are eventually given different assignments, meaning that even if they both survive the war they will never meet again due to time dilation. After briefly contemplating suicide, Mandella assumes the post of commanding officer of a "strike force", commanding soldiers who speak a language largely unrecognizable to him, whose ethnicity is now nearly uniform ('vaguely Polynesian' in appearance) and who are exclusively homosexual. He is disliked by his soldiers because they have to learn 21st century English to communicate with him and other senior staff and because he is heterosexual.

Is this /pol/ the space opera?

No wonder he drinks the way he does.

This was something Ender's Game nearly got right when they were showing the "zero g combat training," which was really just a way to get their cadets to stop strategizing in 2D terms.

Space battles are different due to no drag forces and debris being deadly, even tiny ones. Also the ships should be more spherical/isotropic in design, you dont need aerodynamic warships in the absence of air, but you really need to be able to observe in all directions and also to not have unnecessary desaligned center-of-mass/complicated moment of inertia for your thrusters

which is the best version of das boot to download? director's cut? uncut?
