During the dream sequence when Shinji accepts instrumentality at first, Re/Lilith is trying her best to dissuade Shinji from starting instrumentality. Why would she do that? I meant at the end of the day it isnt Rei at that point but rather the alien entity that is First Ancestral Race.
Just doesnt make sense.
