I just got out of Far From Home and I just don't get why these shitty new films can't even come close to what Raimi did. Memes aside, Spiderman 2 is legit kino. How does a 15 year old film not only have better VFX but so much actual soul?

raimis second spider man is literally the first film, with the whole bullshit 'he could be my son' scene.

marvel spider man isnt perfect but it does the obvious: stay away from the sonys formula and just stick the character deep into the marvel universe.

sonys spider man was always this large scale thing and the charm of the character was how much he was in this little corner of marvel universe, doing his pedestrian shit that cannot be compared to the big shots. thats what people always like about the character: how much of a loser he was ans how close he was of the readers.

Spider-man 2 was the best superhero movie of all time.
Not the Dark Knight, because that's a crime drama, and Batman has no powers. Not Superman, because Superman can literally solve any problem he has.
Its Spider-Man 2. Because anybody can be a hero. Anybody can live a normal life. But when a super villain exists, you need a super hero. Its the movie that defines "why" we need not just heroes, but superheroes.
SM2 was good but I consider it inferior to the first one for essentially retreading themes covered in the first film. And I like DaFoe's acting. He truly was the foe.

Spider-Man 2 has an actual director with a unique style that makes the source material come alive with passion and originality. MCU Spider-Man has whoever the fuck Kevin Feige hires to continue the MCU storyline and appeal to audiences. There’s a reason you can’t even name 75% of MCU directors; Raimi made movies, Feige sells products.
