Casting
The only good casting choices were Captain Boomerang, Batman, Aquaman, Superman, and Harley Quinn. The rest were mediocre at best.
Also writing.

Warner Brothers being completely incompetent at handling one of their biggest properties.

Movies that don't know how to strike a balance between seriousness and humor while also making movies out of order.

>Warner Brothers being completely incompetent at handling one of their biggest properties.
>ONE

They rushed ahead with no clear vision of where they wanted to end up. They thought "super heroes are more popular now than ever, we can't lose." But they never had a charming, wisecracking charisma giant (lol) like RDJr to spearhead the universe, so instead of characters general audiences could enjoy watching we were given an extistentially crippled Superman, a Batman who wasn't given enough time to shine before they back peddled his character, a wonder woman with zero charisma and misc other cutouts.

Effectively it was ego and hubris that lead to oversight that lead to the fall of the dceu.

One day I really hope to see a documentary on it. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Rushed as fuck to compete with Marvel. They should have kept moving at their own pace and focusing on quality. Honestly we didn't even need a tie-in. Subtle nods alone and growing each heroes ally roster would have been fine

This, mostly. Snyder's vision was slightly interesting on a philosophical level, but it just wasn't particularly enjoyable to watch. It was only in WW and Aquaman that they dared to have some fun, and it worked. On the other hand, they gave up the thought-provoking aspect along the way. They should've developed the characters more before trying to pull them together

I rewatched Man of Steel recently, after having not seen it since it came out. I remember somewhat enjoying it at the time, but now? I didn't realize how awful it really is. The first 20 minutes are literally pointless.

btw all those characters are just 2 movies

Better question: what didn't go wrong?

Hell, even the DC fans on Yea Forums continually get their shit pushed in by Marvel fans. It's embarrassing.

DC characters just don't fit in the modern world. well that and 75% of the actors in OP's image quit cause DC sucks.

would've been fine with tom hardy's boomerang but they brough on will smith for no good reason, and he bailed, good on him.
Seriously we want him to wear the mask not see him be will smith, mostly spot on with casting, some im okay with.
why do you want reddit humor in 2 franchises?
i found them enjoyable, and im glad that aquaman went it's own way, because we were already getting a more fleshed out universe.
so what would you want, the usual origins story, spending an hour from baby to adult?
don't fit in the modern world, that's where bvs ultimately proves you wrong, it's exactly how the modern world would perceive them.

The main problem is not finishing the arc, and just going through with JOSStice league, that was worse that Suicide squad

i could make several fucking videos all about all the things wrong with the dc movies. many people already have, but really, even all those videos don't accurately grasp the scope of it all. the mishandling of thire properties is the equivalent of missing the window to land a man on the moon. it's gonna take GENERATIONS to repair the damage, if at all.

Snyder is a fuckface hack that thinks batman should have been raped in prison hes a fucking moron.

Nothing, they have made like 5 billion on a 1.2 billion combined budget and won oscars before Marvel. Aquaman made more than Captain Marvel just this year and Joker seems to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year. They are objectively doing pretty good

Trips of troof.

Upon leaving the cinema, my gf said Man Of Steel was "two hours of buildings cumming over each other."

Probably the best quote ever, should put it on the poster.

Giving three films over to the director that's still trying to do gritty grimdark morality plays like it was the fucking 90s.

Back to your fatsuits and anus jokes, manchild

They went from creating the greatest capeshit in Man of Steel to absolute dogshit like Suicide Squad. I genuinely don't understand how they could fall that hard.

Your gf sounds like a keeper.

Aww do you both have Down’s Syndrome or just her?

Your gf is a pleb. That means you're probably a pleb too.

And not because she didn't like MoS, different people have differing tastes, instead because that's a pleb comment to make.

Been like that since day one too. It extends to more than just the films they do the same braindead decisions anywhere they can. Ironically back in the late 80s-early 90s comic boom WB was going to hand the books to Marvel while they just handle the actually money-making part but fell through.

DC/WB will have the last laugh though. Disney owns Marvel lock stock and barrel and they're not shy of completely lopping off a money-losing limb. This is the studio that literally fired their entire in-house 2d staff after the fallout of a single lackluster film.

A studio who wanted to make money put in charge a director that wanted to make interesting films. Priorities diverged and in the ensuing struggle for control they destroyed it.

it was more like 45 min of building cumming on one another, 45 min of flashback whiplash, and 45 min of pointlessly retreading krypton.

>put in charge a director that wanted to make interesting films
no, they didnt hire christopher nolan to make superman user, they hired Ayn Rand's biggest fan to fuck up a character that is the symbol for altruism. your an even bigger dumb moron that fuckface zack "the hack" snyder

>The first 20 minutes are literally pointless.
You mean the bit that is not only informs who Clark, the main protagonist, is but also who Zod, the main antagonist, is and what's motivating him?

not putting the UC of BvS in theaters and Justice League. That's pretty much it. Justice League was a major fuck up which resulted in the movie being on the same quality level as Avengers 1 which pissed me off big time

Neck yourself you illiterate fag
"The biggest symbol of altruism" is a flat uninteresting character, he absolutely did ruin that character, by making him more human and more nuanced he absolutely destroyed the original character and replaced it with a better one.

Dumb audiences.

>is a flat uninteresting character
yes that has been culturally relevant since 1930 dipshit brainlet marvel loving retard. There is a reason why. You dont just bring in your edgelord director to do his hottake on super heros with your tent pole movie about the most influential superhero of all time.

>resulted in the movie being on the same quality level as Avengers 1
only with out any of the years of build up and world building. it was a bit unfair how it was treated when yes it was basically the same shit. They even did the same speedster joke too, only this time it was suddenly problematic.

They should have went with their original plan, and made the Justice league movie first, with no batman and no superman.

>has been culturally relevant since 1930
Yeah and hasn't changed since

Shitty start with Man of Steel that pretty showed anyone that Zach Snyder doesn't get the source material. Followed by mediocre Batman vs Superman where you had three big name superheroes in one film and Snyder basically did nothing with any of them and killed one of them off because reasons. And this is second film of the supposed series of films, showing us WB is really rushing to get the superhero money. Wonder Woman was ok but that is because Snyder wasn't directing. Justice League was a mess that comes from two different directors working on it.

All and all the reason the DCU failed was because of Zach Snyder wasn't as good at his job as Kevin Feige was.

>You dont just bring in your edgelord director to do his hottake on super heros with your tent pole movie about the most influential superhero of all time.
Why not? Why make the same Superman movie as has been made do many times before, where Clark is the impeccable indefatigable paragon of virtue who always knows what to do and always selflessly saves the day from the bad guys in the nick of time?

yes, thats the fucking point!

It’s almost like human beings say dumb shit to each other as lazy banter

Leave the house

>why not?
short answer, look at the name of this thread.
>why make the same movie
it wouldn't have to be the exact same movie. superman has had a vast amount of stories and villians to draw from then just lex luthor, and zod.
>Clark is the impeccable indefatigable paragon of virtue who always knows what to do and always selflessly saves the day from the bad guys in the nick of time?
loL WhY dOes B@tmAn HaVe 2 Be AlL dArK aNd Br0oDinG aLl tHe TimE?/./??

Have you ever read a comic from the 1930s? They're not good.

>it wouldn't have to be the exact same movie. superman has had a vast amount of stories
That's all I need to hear. There's more to a film than plot you dumb nigger.

If it were one film I'd understand, but he treated everything he was given as a vehicle for whatever draft number he was on for his opus instead of adapting any one of the storylines that kept the character relevant all the way to the present.

WB moves at such a glacial pace though I wouldn't be surprised if he was shit canned a lot sooner but by the time he got the pink slip he already wrapped up another shit flick.

I agree with the other user. The whole idea of Clark’s genetics being unscripted isn’t really important to the plot or interesting. It has no significance to his life on earth. Zod as a character could have monologued his motivation.

>Dud Cinematic Universe

>here's more to a film than plot
okay, but thats like, half of it. it can't just be a slide show Nazi fuck, which is what Man of Murder/ BvS was.

>they're not good
in what way? a lot of super heroes from the golden age still have many of their origins and villains and themes. Superman has actually changed a lot from how he was in the 1930s where he started out as basically a vigilante then became a super powered dick and then adopted a persona as the symbol for america before marvel supplanted that into a character literally called captain america. Golden age comics aren't as bad as you think they are but they do have many issues, one being the very embarrassing racism. Thats easily removed though.

The fact that he thought it bore repeating 6 years later indicates that either he’s 13 years old, 7 in 2013, and thinks “cumming” is intrinsically hilarious or that his girl has Down’s Syndrome and that he was super proud of her for stringing a few words together almost coherently. It’s one or the other

What went right?

>The whole idea of Clark’s genetics being unscripted isn’t really important to the plot or interesting
Yes it is, brainlet. The whole movie is about growing above destiny, fighting your nature to rise beyond your role. It made Superman something more than just a fucking bullet-resistant dude. Why the fuck would you cut that off?

>Zod as a character could have monologued his motivation.
Thank god you don't write movies.

So they wanted to be serious.
They decide not to be colorful, avoid camp and adapt the material as of they were embarrassed. They ended up with fucked up designs for almost every character, hero or villain. Steppenwolf looked like shit. Ares looked like shit. The entire suicide squad looked like shit.

So they wanted to catch up to Marvel.
Their competition had years to build up interest and emotional investment in their characters, you could see them get better at using their abilities and see the world they live in adjust to them. DC/WB did not want to wait to do a team movie. They did not want to develop a relationship with its audience through time, that they could tweak and adjust. After one Superman movie, they jumped to an already old Batman, Wonder Woman, the world ALREADY turning on Supes, adapting dialogue from the Dark Knight Returns, Doomsday, killing Superman and starting the Justice League. The next movie could have no impact with hardly any set up.

So they wanted to be extra special and different with their casting. Cavill was great. Some of the other casting choices were absolutely tone deaf. Lex and Flash immediately come to mind. Almost the entire cast for Suicide Squad was miscast, not even going into Birds of Prey. Dont ask me how Squad made money with the universally panned Leto-Joker.

WB wanted to do "serious" capeshit, in a rush seemingly with whomever was available. They fucked up in the most popular movie genre of the last decade using established brands with even more decades of recognition.

Well said. There's no aspect from writing to casting to everything else that DC did not fuck up. That's why everyone on this board hates DCfags. They know DC is fucked up, but they worship them anyway. The worst kind of shills

I'm still not convinced the Joaquin Phoenix Joker film is more than just a joke. Who in the fuck even wants to see that shit?

They tried so hard to make Batman and Superman "original" that they squandered them in favor of Wonder Woman and Aquaman

Imagine being this retarded. Embarrassing

Makes a great meme. But honestly, Joker is a character famously known for NOT having an origin and being forever intertwined in Batman's legacy. This film spits in the face of BOTH those key character details.

Next they should do a Lex Luthor origin story, only have him be from Krypton and Superman doesn't exist. DC is for retards.

Tried to be Watchmen. Failed.

Comics are for fucking children.

Only thanks to DC ruining capeshit's good name. Marvel is always kino.

do you have the one showiing dc writers and marvel writers, the comic writers that is.
It's pretty much the same.
Also pretty much explains the reddit love for the mcu, full onion with those bois

Studio meddling.
Countless rewrites with suicide squad
Casting Will smith as deadshot was a waste, we want to see him with the mask on, in doing so, another rewrite and losing Tom Hardy due to the script leaning toward Will.
Movie needed an R rating to show these guys why they are in their given position in the first place.
Also created in a time after scripted bots have proven tried and true, if you paid any attention during the 2016 election, you would pick on these bots writing comments and people shilling like npc's. Disney quickly picked up on this and used it on Wb to masquerade as fans, but really were just keep shilling the point of wanting more marvelesque like films, and they took the bait.
They should've known their audience wasn't full onion like the mcu viewers and their is no winning that audience at least not until or if they ever grow up and realize they consumed a real shit product, but knowing disney kids, they never do.

and you are a big fucking moron.
Nolan didn't want to direct a cinematic universe, he literally said that Zach is the man for the job.
He was executive producer for Man of Steel
you marvel drones really can't do much research, can you?
He did make it better

yikes, imagine growing up with marvel animation.
Name one animated film without it looking worse than spiderverse.
Answer is: don't bother, Thread will be dead by the time you realize their isn't shit to their comic lore to animation

they added characters that weren't batman and superman

>thread discusses how bad the Joker film is gonna be
>seething DCfag brings up anime outta nowhere

COPE HARDER

onion harder, it only eliminates you from the gene pool with your brainlet taste
