The fact that Disney's biggest sellers in the past few years are mediocre remakes tells me that they haven't had much success with their new shit. Like the executives look at the return and see that all their new shit (BFG, Wrinkle in time, Nutcracker) are losing money, so they do what's safe. The problem is that these "safe" things rely pretty much exclusively on the goodwill and love of what came before it (i.e. the original movie) which is often half a generation or so old. It's been like this for at least 5-10 years or so, so maybe it's the case that interest in these old IPs is simply waning which is only now reflected in their park sales (which heavily rely on their old IPs).

I mean think about it. Women in their 20s now are drawn to Disney by their love of Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, etc. What will draw in the next generation?

Most passes don't work during summer, most people thought the park would be insanely crowded for Galaxy's Edge's launch and thus decided to avoid it, and the combination of some of the bigger items being out of stock and Rise of the Resistance (the big main ride) not being out mean people are planning trips closer to November/December, when it should be open and things back in-stock.

Right before Galaxy's Edge's advanced reservation opening day and towards the end of it before the more open opening day it was at the typical packed (but not quite summer-packed) levels.

Posts here about the ticket prices being jacked up again or Disney being dicks or providing a sub-par experience in some capacity isn't really at play. That hasn't stopped people from flooding the park before, especially for new attractions.

This is because Pixar and Disney animation were, until recently, lead by John Lasseter and Es Cadmull (Pixar founders). These guys knew how to create real films, they did some bad ones (like cars) but overall their movies were not soulless cash grabs. You cannot say the same with the rest of the Disney company. All of their live action films lack the soul and originality of something like the Lion King, Fantasia or Toy Story. This includes the Marvel and the Star Wars. Think a little bit, not a single live action Disney film is iconic. The last one was the first Pirate of the Caribbean.

The sad part is that both Lasseter and Cadmull left Disney. So the future of Pixar and Disney Animation is uncertain.

Disneyland's an Annual Passholder focused park and they blocked them out for most of the summer (and jacked up the prices for the higher tiers too) after the reservation period to control crowds and expecting them to be hype enough for half a Star Wars Land to buy regular tickets.

In order for real growth to be stable, even if it's just to keep up with population growth, there must be corresponding nominal (amount-of-money) growth. In the hand-wavey sense, this is because the alternative is deflation, but in a more realistic sense, there needs to be more money available to buy more products.
Now here's where things get a bit fucky. Financial assets are always someone else's liability. The way the US is set up, cash and reserves are liabilities of the Fed, but it's supposed to maintain "positive equity," so the mountain of liability is put on the Treasury and called the public debt. The postwar era (the 50s through 70s) had an implicit understanding of this (and correspondingly strong growth), but with the dominance of (neo)liberal economics, that's all been lost (like tears in the rain).
Instead, the liability was pushed to individuals, which was called financial engineering, but you and I know chiefly as credit cards, mortgages, HELOCs, and student debt. Mortgages blew up in 2008, and did lead to some public deficits, but no fundamental changes. The next round looks to be student debt, and the public deficits may not be so forthcoming.

However if a person is sort of local to Disney, and just wants to wuickly drive down, I can see the price rises to be sort f shitty for that, because it may cost your fuel allowance, or food allowance.
