Season 5 was so stupid
Its the reason the wire can never be considered one of the greatest tv shows

It was a good arc desu

It's really not that bad. It's just weaker than all the other seasons.

The scene where the FBI behavioral psychologists describe him to his face is great.

the weakest wire is still better than the best cop procedurals out there.

No doubt. Wire season 5 is better than any season of any series from the last ten years.
It's the Godfather 3 phenomenon, it's still very good, it just seems so much weaker because what preceded it was virtually perfection.

Godfather 3 is a bit lower in quality than I remember after rewatching it. I would say you are right though. Still quality Wire. Was there a single bad episode of that show?

>Was there a single bad episode of that show?
Fuck fuck fuck was a bit cringe, can’t remember the rest of the episode though. I didn’t mind the chess but because street nogs would really be like that.

I'd say it's a solid 7.5. Just that the first two are both 10s for me. Godfather 3 better than just about everything I've seen from the last two years.
>Was there a single bad episode of that show?
Not that I can recall.

BASED PUERILE IDIOT

Marlo wasn't autistic, he was the logical evolution of the hood mindset. Care about literally no one and nothing other than yourself. Anyone does care about other things is a pussy-ass bitch.

I would agree that it's still good, and the overall show is a masterpiece, but you went a bit too far imo.

Yeah, many of the flagship dramas are shit nowadays, but we still get 1-2 kino tier series/seasons of something a year, since we're still in the golden age of tv.

wrong opinion

> since we're still in the golden age of tv.
More optimistic than I am. I think the golden age is over and has been for a while now.

i legit skipped all these scenes after like 3 episodes, it's amazing how shit this plot was compared to everything else

Season 1 is the most rewatchable. Early 2000's gang culture was a comfy vibe

UP IN DA CLUB!

I wanted to like this show but the chillest black dude in the show is killed in prison.. the main character white cop is a asshole and a alcoholic with zero redeemable qualities he makes the main villain look respectable and smart.

Omar stuff was the best because how ridiculous it was and to top it off he was gay now that was original!

He was mad Harrenhal was off the table.

It did dominate the board
why do I keep coming back to this shithole

Too ambitious

Yeah in 2002, totally dominated Yea Forums

At least take comfort in the fact that you're not alone. I'm still here bro even after all these years. Just go to wire or sopranos threads is oldfag haven.

>this show is so realistic guys

You clearly weren't here around 2010.

Nation of Islam folks are like that though

Him and Omar sucked all the realism off the show.

yeah, but I got the impression that by season 5 he didn't really gave a shit about civility anymore and just cared about his ambitions and being elected governor, maybe I need to rewatch tho

Boring show. CSI is better but still shit

Nig who was trying to rise above his station.

Omar how? Almost all his mystique was just reputation and when it came down to it he was just another guy.

Am I racist because my favorite line in the entire series is Stringer to that other nog, "Nigga, is you takin' notes on a criminal fuckin' conspiracy"?

I don't care if it's based on some true bullshit, jumping four stories off a building is almost always death.

He probably wanted to help the city, clear out the corruption, but then it turned out to be much harder than expected and his big promises fizzled out, and then he got his eye on the governorship and put his personal ambition above the city's wellbeing. Probably exactly what happened to Royce before him, who no doubt also started with good intentions before the grind of the job corrupted him.

>he wasn't here in 1999 during the golden age of Yea Forums
newfag detected

>I don't care if it's literally a real thing that happened, it's unrealistic for a real thing to happen
They toned it down for the show, it was five stories in real life.

we doublin' down on sweet lips

the guy that actually did that was literally in that scene
the scene where Omar goes out in his bathrobe unarmed and people still flee from him should tell you exactly how much his reputation is worth, people buy into his larger than life persona, even though he's just a guy in reality. That's what kills him, one kid realizes his mystique is all bullshit and just shoots him when he's not paying attention.

>Avon throws writer through a door
DO YOUR FUCKIN' JOB!

they deserved better, it's not fair bros :(
(except Namond, of course)

Fags and plebs

I just rewatched the series and I thought season 5 was fantastic. When I first saw it I though seasons 1 and 4 were the best, but this time around I liked every season pretty much equally.

Yeah that was kino. There's actually tons of great writing in season 5.

aparently i'm a retard and can't format a post properly

WHERE'S WALLACE STRING?!

Namond was a good dude on the inside, he was just trying to play tough gangster like he was demanded of by his mom

why was Slim Charles such a good character?

>his mom
Fun character to hate desu
Caricature of a black single mom who's used to being hood rich cuz of what her man gave her

Baltimore knot.

Don't know what it is, but it's never the same thing twice.

He was calm and rational while surrounded by hotheads, loyal to his boss and had a cool raspy voice.

Fuckin A

what the fuck did I do?

You happy now, bitch?

Attached: thebunk.jpg (320x240, 20K)

Why was his name Bunk?

Am I the only one not triggered by that plot? Weird shit happens in real life all the time.

I love it. It was true to McNulty's character, but it was the most crazy thing he'd done yet. This kind of thing is certainly plausible - just as plausible as the subplot about those Hamsterdam areas in Season 3. And how it ties into every other plot is really nice. It was great to have McNulty back at the center of the story after being almost absent last season, since he did feel kind of like the protagonist from the beginning.

Also, seeing how each character reacted to his scheme in different ways was really interesting.

McNulty doing isn't crazy, the fact that Freamon goes along with it is.

it's a last name

>bunk moreland

it's a first name

also leaked to a phone scam? i dont know it came up twice and was weak as shit

Attached: 324.jpg (1375x845, 70K)

His name is Robert Moreland, everyone calls him Bunk for whatever reason.

If he stuck to being a mayor and wasn’t always planning on moving up the ladder he would have been fine.

William

Attached: qarth.jpg (350x307, 29K)

His character would've been made more sense if the show was set earlier, but plenty of gangbangers joined nation of islam, went to college and became self conscious of acting overly refined and formal

Only if you're poor or middle class, old money fails upward

Whatever.

Under Mueller FBI shifted the majority of its white collar financial crimes division to counter terrorism

The sound of early 2000's sedan doors closing is ASMR for me.

Yea, but only after telling her how her hair looks.

I hated bubbles. Fuck him. Second time I watched The Wire I skipped his over dramatic shenanigans and the series went up one whole point to a 8/10. Also skipped that lesbian cunt. Were they expecting me to cry when she got shot, or care? The fucking dyke didn't even die, and survived only to be a whistle-blower later. Fuck her...

You sound like a neurotic spaz.

Some smokehound told David Simon a bunch of bullshit stories about how he was a superhuman gangsta and Simon believed him. Total bullshit. It's an entertaining show, but it's not "realistic." It's some white liberal fantasy version of The Mean Streets of Bawlmer.

He was in charge, there.

blah blah blah

>Nobody on here created a "Where's Wallace?" meme based on Where's Waldo
I used to think you guys were sharp, but it's really one creative for every ten thousand posters here.

Be the change, user

If that season had aired currently instead of years before this board even existed it would have

Except Simon did follow homocide detectives around for a year and wrote a book about it. He also followed a fucked up drug family for a year and wrote a book about it. The Corner. He wasn't just making shit up although I do agree that Omar does sound like a fiend's fantasy.

So. From left to right

It's about a lot more than Baltimore specifically.

yes to like a tv show you have to live where it takes place

I'm going to pretend this never existed, and you made it in response. In either case, good going.

>Implying Sopranos season 6A isn't a mess either.
>117531432
Pretty sad that Pembleton went from being master of intense claustrophobic scenes in the box to being a joke character on Brooklyn 99. Disregarding the mess that was season 7, Homicide balanced serialized and episodic better than any show I've seen.

They're comparable, there's nothing quite like them out there.

For me its Rhonda!!!!

>The man fucked with the bosses so hard they put him in pawnshop unit for 13 years, I think he would have the cajones to go along with McNutty's plan if it meant taking out Marlo.

Yeah, but it didn't feel like the approach he'd take. Something like using the illegal wire to blackmail a crooked judge into getting them enough legal latitude to go after Marlow would have been more in line with how he does things. Remember how he fucked Ronnie with those campaign finance requests? It was a small miracle that she didn't get buried over that but Lester didn't care.
