Not really. Peter got outed as Spiderman plenty of times in the comics. Its actually a thread from several comic lines that the previous movies have yet to touch on so Im glad they did it now. A subway train of new yorkers protecting petes idenity isnt the same as it being broadcast in times square. It also makes sense from a technological standpoint since it would be neigh impossible to maintain a secret identity in todays world.

It was garbage in the comics too. Millar's Civil War was a fucking trainwreck. The movie was actually an improvement on the comics. Then again, the same can be said for most Millar comics.
