I think Chernobyl and TD S1 are the only shows there that are arguably 9/10

Barry and Patriot are recent shows that are really good, maybe Sneaky Pete but its written in that way thats perfect for binging

I've heard City on the hill and Perpetual Grace LTD are good but haven't watched them yet if any anons recommend?

HBO's Rome is as good or better than any of those

The Terror.

Dark

I agree.

twin peaks

The Larry Sanders Show. Thank me later.

Sopranos
The Wire
Deadwood

This, or Babylon Berlin. I know it's euroshit but it's still fucking great. I wish Yea Forums would talk about it more.

Boring as fuck, Couldn't even finish that show because it's boring.

true, the young pope is 10/10

the only correct answer
you're basically wasting your time if you're watching anything else

all of these are great. mad men too

>No Wire or Sopranos
Awful

Wolf Hall,although it is a 10/10

It's not a TV series, but Kenneth Clark's Civilisation is the only 10/10 television program ever made.

>breaking bad
>9/10

More like 5/10

Btw you should watch sopranos

24

Twin Peaks

>Developed by David Attenborough
God bless the BBC. Will be watching this

He'd been trying to get them to make a program like it for years, and finally was able to pitch it as a way to convince people to upgrade to color television sets. It was such a success that it was followed up with Ascent of Man and then Attenborough decided to go back into presenting with Life on Earth. Without Civilisation we probably wouldn't have any modern Attenborough documentaries.

>all those picks
what a homosexual negroid retarded poster

is it okay to watch at work, im in an open office and people are always taking a peek at my screen

The Prisoner

Why tho?

The Leftovers.

Black Sails, otherwise known as Pirate Kino

they don't look like pirates at all

Peaky Blinders
Taboo

mmmmmmmmnootkahmmmm

The Shield

It's a long series though

Attached: shield13-vic2.jpg (400x293, 13K)

>True Detective (Season 1 and 3)

What's S3 like, worth watching?

The Barchester Chronicles

Dark
Narcos
Maniac
Mindhunter
Mad Men

it's ok, tried a bit too hard to be like S1 but didn't manage to do it
MCs chemistry was great tho

...

Is it that good? I never got the time to watch it when it was on tv.

Fargo Season 2

Mad Men
Gomorra: la serie

I don't understand people praising Breaking Bad. The show went like this:
S1: 5/10
S2: 6/10
S3: 7/10
S4: 8/10
S5: 9/10

Skam - short episodes, but engaging plot. Decent script

The patriot is an amazing show.

the wire/the sopranos

The first few episodes are, to be sure. A couple of the later ones have a handful of Tasteful Nudes, but I don't think it's career jeopardizing.

...

XIII THHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It's well paced and it's got an extremely reasoned approach to depicting the interwar Weimar Republic.I had pretty low expectations going into it, given how mediocre a lot of recent German stuff had been, but the characters are good and aside from some dodgy computer generated backdrops it looks great.

The Terror. It even has Legasov starring in it.

Attached: 1561587051842.jpg (1200x900, 185K)

>goodsir kept the facial hair

that is one very white and very based table.

Finish Fargo, Season 2 is absolute kino.

Better than 2 at least?

Generation Kill

Dark
Gomorrah
Hannibal

I never understood the meme about S2 being bad
people percieved it as such because they were expecting another S1, but S2 is a pretty fucking good crime serie per se

Swamp Thing

All I remember is VV's atrocious character and a very poorly executed conclusion. Other leads did a fine job, as was most of the mystery.

Miami Vice Seasons 1-3

anyway, S3 has a better atmosphere and better acting but the whole plot is quite dull and inconclusive

The Terror

Attached: 11248796534.jpg (1920x1080, 183K)

Is better call saul any good?

It's good but it's slow as fuck, like nothing every happens in the first three seasons

Oh good, I will check it that sounds interesting. Thank you. I have always been fascinated by the inter-war period. I've mostly seen french movies on les années folles, so I'm eager to see a german's take on it.

unfortunately for you, true detective season 1 and chernobyl are peak tv

What did you think about season 2 user?

did people like OZ, im on season 2 and it still hasnt grabbed me.

season 2 of patriot was solid pretty much a striaight continuation of the last ep and Barry is growing nicely in season 2

THE LEFTOVERS

I never could pass the rushed Gennarro's transformation in season 1. Never bothered to watch the next season. Does it get better in the following seasons?

Indeed, their pirate hats, parrots, and eye caps are missing.

Attached: 1507133339539.png (535x479, 197K)

I was young in high school when I watched it, and I liked it then.

Yeah, I thought Patriot season 2 was kino too. I didn’t realize the second season of Barry was out yet, I’ll get to watching it.

Can you believe they did a WOKE remake of this last year, completely contradicting everything that was said in the first one?

> the BBC is revisiting Clark’s classic through a new series called Civilisations, to be broadcast in the spring. It will ask bracing questions like “How far is British civilisation built on looting and plunder, or admiration and openness?” The show will be presented by committee, with duties shared between Simon Schama, Mary Beard and David Olusoga.

Better Call Saul

this.

Imagine if it still was running.
we'd be on season 5

Which ones did you enjoy the most OP?

My recommendation is Barry. Perfect blend of drama, comedy and action.

Attached: 1547401921142.jpg (562x800, 121K)

I managed to make it until the killer was revealed. I understand why many people like it but it just wasn't for me. i'll give it another chance at some point at maybe it will click with me

Fargo season 1 is 10/10 you fucking retard

Retard

House S01-S02 (then stop watching)

The Prisoner
Deadwood
John From Cincinnati
Carnivale
The Sopranos
The Wire

Breaking bad was good at the time but I rewatched recently and it hasn't aged that well.

Perpetual Grace is pretty good so far, quite similar to Patriot

Is that one really up there with all those other great shows listed? Better not lie to me Yea Forums.

Hannibal

Can't you read?

Hannibal

Fargo season 2 is in my opinion even better than season 1.

If you liked Breaking Bad and don't mind slow burn, watch Better Call Saul. It is as good and at times better.

And I can't recommend Barry enough. Its first season was really good and now the second one was consistently brilliant. Watch it.

this fuck gave Chernobyl a 7/10 because it wasn't smart enough

how does that make you feel

Attached: fag.jpg (900x900, 71K)

What show did he like better?

Pine Gap

This is the correct answer although it's a 10/10. Also watch Berlin Alexanderplatz from Fassbinder.

Attached: tumblr_ohlti7xFqq1ungjszo2_400.jpg (400x565, 77K)

yea until they change the president anyway

I'm gonna take a potentially different route and recommend that you watch Fargo S2. It's some of the best tv i've ever seen, easily btfo's almost every suggestion in this thread

Billions

it's decent

Skip the W*Re

You're missing the five best shows of all time. The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Deadwood, and Twin Peaks.

Afterlife

Watch the other 2 seasons of Fargo for god’s sake, season 2 is the strongest part of the show. Watch season 3 as well, it’s not the best season but it’s still worth watching.

tough to argue with desu

True Detective season 2 is a massive pleb filter. Caspere knew this.

Absolutely, there's a reason why Sorkin is often considered to be the best screenwriter alive, but be warned it's very much a relic of its era if you're a zoomer. It's very dialogue heavy and devoid of trendy cynicism, and Sorkin's style can come as very preachy, full of itself, self parody and artificial. It's not edgy and stylish, it's not HBO. It's not very popular here. It is blatant leftist soapboxing but it's also its own idealistic version of politics where everyone is brilliant and noble without pretending to be realistic and that's what is so charming and timeless about it, it's about wise and caring people dealing with moral dilemmas in emotionally satisfying manners, rather than about shoving an agenda down your throat or reveling in easy cynicism about politics. At his best Sorkin is an absolute master of narrative structure, character interactions and psychology, tastefulness, crafting complex and subtle storytelling stakes and payoffs, and he owns his really unique tone regardless of what's trendy. Try it out with an open mindset and see if you like its tone and characters.

Justified
Person of Interest
Homeland (only seasons 1-5)
Dexter (only 1-5)
House of Cards (only 1-2)
Babylon 5 (takes effort to get through S1 but stick with it)

i sincerely hope that my hatred for you over skipping season 2 of TD somehow reaches you and negatively affects your life.

Attached: cyjOjBW.png (700x754, 101K)

>user didn't get past the s2 pleb filter
based

>Fargo s2&3
Are essentials and after that
>Legion
As a new season is coming out now (don't worry, it's more Noah Hawley than capeshit).
>Leftovers
Probably one of the most emotionally exhausting shows of all time, but at the same time pure excellence, not to mention - a redemption for Lindelof after The Lost debacle.
>The Terror
Always seemed very close to Chernobyl to me (maybe because of the actors).
>Rome
For superior GoT

For something longer:
>Mad Men
>Sopranos
>The Wire
Are all absolute classics.

Other than that, your list is already pretty solid. I heard The Americans is great, but haven't watched it yet.

First season of BBC's The Missing is a masterpiece (second season is decent):

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Missing_(TV_series)

Line of Duty is a 10/10:

Hannibal (maybe dodge the third season if you're picky).
The Leftovers.

not even that good, this is the ultimate tryhard option, prabably the worst kieslowski work but still get rec because 'omgadhh that name has so many y and z'

Fargo season 2

Hot take.

stealing seasons 1 - 3 right now because of this post

>hey its not that good but go watch it
fuck yourself american

You are wrong.

it is a above average show desu, nothing more, don't get baited into it, the guy that made it has far better work

>Fargo S2 and 3 are worth watching
This, not as good as the first. But still has the same charm.

I like it. Why are you so upset?

see and go back to letterboxd

I found The Americans pretty average, watched the first season

idk

Agreed, the 'about love' segment he turned into a movie is a masterpiece but the rest is mostly banal.

No mention of Six Feet Under but a bunch for The Leftovers. Fucking children

I kinda feel they're all equally great on their own.
s1 had the tightest narrative
s2 had the boldest style
s3 had the most consistent themes

Finished it today, it's truly the kino of all kinos but a bit too depressing, every character is an asshole

X files

best opinion, i also like the first one, but for me not even those are masterpieces, but really great ones

true kino

Attached: 13410658314647.jpg (500x387, 48K)

They're not even comparable, totally different shows. And Leftovers is superior.

Attached: 22LEFTOVERS2-articleLarge.jpg (600x399, 38K)

It's pretty great. Each one of the episodes gives unique perspective and interpretation of each commandment. Each episode has some moral dilemma which is always interesting. The only episode that's not that great is episode 7.
Very nuanced criticism.

>american soap opera that has an edgy to it
could not get pass the second episode, really awful show

The last kingdom
Escape at dannemora

the best ones got made into stand alone movies, the rest (except the first, which is actually the best) is pretty meh, i kind like it the comedy at the end, but i'm not crazy about

Mad Men without a doubt my dude

Absolutely underrated and 10/10 taste
The Prisoner is easily among my all time favorites

We can agree to disagree, i liked all of them. I was lukewarm on 7. I do prefer Three Colours Red and The Double Life of Veronique to Dekalog.

Shit taste. Definitely a zoomer who thinks Game of Thrones is a good show.

Attached: 1430104120002.png (640x352, 335K)

Which ep? The first few are lame

Six feet under was great and fun to watch sure, but it went on for far too long and you can only cram so many gay jokes in it
Leftovers on the other hand never appears to have a sense of direction, but 3 seasons scored by Max Richter and pretty great acting all over puts it easily above 6FU

Low winter sun is a good, gritty, Detroit cops show shame it was only one season

actually i prefer Rome, stay mad

Shit taste zoomer.

Fargo s02 first and foremost if you watched s01 already. Six Feet Under and Gomorra - La Serie s01-s02 with subs after.

for me its The Double Life of Veronique> White> Blue = Red> ASFAL >Camera Buff>ASFAK >Blind Chance = Dekalog as a whole

yeah, i'm 'that' guy that likes White over the rest

>Gomorra - La Serie s01-s02 with subs after.
what's wrong with seasons 3 and 4?

Dekalog would be a 9/10 if it didn't fall completely flat on a couple of episodes
The first one, the one with the guy in a coma, and a short film about love / killing are top tier and you can just watch those 4 if you want

"The Americans" is a really good TV show.

The episode where Phil and Elizabeth run into Stan Beeman at the swingers club is really good

Attached: 1527187304006.jpg (1920x1080, 587K)

The colors trilogy and double life are EASILY among his worst movies
>inb4 muh contrarian
Comparing it to his earlier works is really stupid, he isn't the best director of the PNW sure, but his movies up to Blind Chance are commendable
Dekalog had some amazing eps and some really bad ones, and then the last 4 movies suffer from themes that he clearly wasn't that good on expressing, aka doubling down on the worst eps of Dekalog
Anyways he isn't as good as either Wajda or Zanussi, and he isn't even remotely close to Zulawski, so it doesn't matter
Dekalog is a solid 7.5-8/10 series anyways

Too Old to Die Young in all honesty, but Yea Forums is too pleb for it. And you are too probably, no offense.

so it's a show for pseuds? gotcha

>Cromwell
As an Irishman I cant watch this in good conscience

not at all, i'm just being honest

wrong Cromwell m8

well Fargo season 2, retard.
It might be better than the first one.

James May's Man Lab on Amazon

Is Barry actually good? I watched the first episode and there was nothing particularly amusing or interesting about it. I recently have come to like Bill Hader due to Youtube recommendations (lol). But this show didn't seem like it's above anything.

Yes

this
The Knick was an absolute 9/10 show. Great cinematography and OST.

also every episode was directed by Steven Soderbergh, so visually it was one guy's "vision" all the way through, unlike almost every TV show out there.
David Simon shows like The Wire and Generation Kill all share a reliance on truthful dialogue and not pandering to the audience with overtly retarded exposition. The characters talk like they're among themselves, the audience doesn't exist or doesn't really matter, unlike almost every TV show out there.

The Shield is my favorite show of all time and The Sopranos is objectively the best show ever made. Try those out. Also good call skipping True Detective S2

it's excellent

Watch the 3 seasons of Deadwood and then the movie.
You wont regret it.

>Patriot

Criminally underrated, good suggestion user

The Sopranos, Mad Men, Twin Peaks

not him, but i couldn't get past halfway through the 2nd episode. it's painfully unconventional, it feels like it was made by taking a first draft of a script from an amateur film student and having slightly more experienced amateur film students do terrible committee edits on it, it's among the worst tv i've ever attempted to watch.

The Leftovers and The Knick are the BEST shows of the decade.

>True Detective season 3
>9/10

Sopranos
Spartacus Blood and Sand
The Wire

are my holy trinity

Mr robot but only season 1, rest are pretty good yeah. black sails has some faults but is pretty kino at moments.

The Knick should definitely be among The Sopranos, Deadwood, Mad Men, Rome, Chernobyl, The Terror, The Wire, Young Pope, Band of Brothers, Generation Kill, True Detective Season 1, Fargo Season 1/2
Yea Forums canon, but it's relatively unknown.
Who doesn't like a) historical shows where the roles of men and women were different b) medical shows c) historical medical shows with a strong flawed main character pushing the envelope on the progress of science c) shows where a renowned movie director directs every episode
That's a pretty good list actually for people who haven't seen some of these.
Also there's memeworthy scenes of eugenics winning. If this show had aired in recent years, it would have generals like The Terror and /RBMK/ has

Also recommend
How was S02 and was the english dub good or shit like S01? Don't mind subtitles but it takes my focus away from the show and acting
How was S02? Thought S01 was alright but not worthy of excitement for S02, to me. Shit, remember almost nothing
>those poor, perfect in every way, brown people who would've never conquered us if they had the intelligence and technology (Crusades were all whitey's fault)
This. Not even a fan of pirates or sailing but some of the greatest dialogue ever on tv
No! The plot conclusion was garbage and meant it was all for nothing
Was way too convoluted, if they had 2-4 more episodes they might've pulled it off. Also needed to get ride of Klitsh's character to help that
It's nothing spectacular but give the shit on tv and the consistent quality, worth watching. Ending was satisfying

Check out Deutschland '83, it's not dark like Chernobyl but it's set in the late cold war and really well done.

One Kino to rule them all
