There are soap operas with tons of characters that have near 100 episode seasons with a fraction of HBO's budget, if they can do it HBO fucking can, ASOIAF has always been a large series in scope for a tv show but that didn't stop them with the first 3 episodes. Robb is known to have fucked Jeyne. It was not about pregnancy though (although I guess neither would know until it was too late). It was more that he fucked, or, “spoiled” this highborn girl while he was her fathers guest.
It’s also implied the whole thing was helped along by her social climbing mother, since Jeyne wasn’t a “nurse” the way D&D made her and had no reason to be nursing Robb alone in his bedroom.

Neither is game of thrones post season 4. I have no idea how to structure them for a tv show since I don't get paid millions of dollars to write a tv show adaptation of a book series, but when they get very obvious themes and events in the books completely wrong that they're adapting there's no defending it, especially when the show is packed with filler anyways

Splitting a S5 and S6 between characters would have been a really bad decision.

The best option would have to do something like uneven numbered episodes for the AFFC characters and even numbered ones for the ADWD ones and cut some of the most needless stuff like Arianne's dumb plan, Brienne's detour with Dick Crabb, Davos getting stranded in the Sisters and even all of Quentyn. But that also leaves the problem of those characters whose storylines end in 3 or 4 chapters while other ones have like 15 chapters each.

The only OC I'd keep is Tyrion and Jorah reenacting the plot of Gladiator rather than wiping Yezzan's diarrhea

Jeyne's whore mom definitely was in cahoots with Tywin after the marriage but I seriously doubt that it was her plan all along to make Robb fuck her and guilt trip him into a marriage.

i mean its not that difficult to understand, the first 3 books have some big events (ned getting his head chopped off, blackwater, red wedding, etc) that they used to separate each season to make the seasons feel whole and complete. affc doesn't have anything like that. adwd has dany riding off on drogon and jon dying, that's kind of it. affc and adwd are mostly plot and character setup, lots of moving around without much happening. then you have to realize to do these books right it would take probably 2 seasons per book, basing tha toff of what they did with asos. so 4 seasons in total for those two books of not a lot happening and maybe 2 or 3 big events that are at the ass end of the story. i just can't see any way they could have done it properly

bran ending up as king doesn't seem like something grrm would do. that's just out of nowhere. kings landing getting sacked and burned to the ground is definitely something he would do, but all the details and setup for how they get to that point is going to be different in the books. i think what will happen in the books is the walkers and wights will get all the way down to kings landing, attack the city, and dany will be forced to burn it all down with all the inhabitants still inside because its the only way to stop the walkers.

I'm 100% sure that Sansa becoming Queen in the North was show OC to make up for the rape season and to give her some sort of ending after doing literally nothing in the final season except bitch at Dany, Jon and Tyrion for no reason at all.

As for Arya she has to become at least good enough to be able to quit the faceless men without any repercussions because otherwise she wouldn't have kept Needle.

If the long night is super severe, and Bran helps guide humanity out of it than he would definitely be worthy of being king. Also look at what Old Nan told Bran about the importance of stories. For GRRM a king who knows all of his peoples stories and the world’s story would be able to rule wisely, and in an enduring way.
Also if he gets all of the collective weir wood conscious he will have the collective wisdom of the children, greenseers, and the already successful Bloodraven.

bloodraven is turning into a tree, its kind of implied that is what will happen to bran. bran sits on a weirwood stump when he wargs crows and gets all those visions from the past. grrm is always talking about the 'cost' of things, and it doesn't seem likely to me that grrm would just make bran travel all that way just to get the ability to touch a weirwood and become a god.

I got no time to rewatch the show, but I have watched some best of scene compilations on youtube. the quality of the writing seriously fell off a cliff after season four.

Outline was written with the 1991 ending in mind. And according to George he's still pretty much writing the same characters as he envisioned them in 1991, which you can definitely see in the outline from 1993. Nothing is obe to one, but outline helps.

George's ending sucks, but D&D dropped large portions of the source material and went with their own bullshit. They also wanted to wrap everything up in 10 episodes, but HBO got them to reconsider. Then, they decided that they had to dictate where the show would go, despite not caring about it anymore. They could have hired people who did, but no, they had to do write all this shit themselves.

I don't think so. We have plenty of decent Targaryens in the backstory and some of them even acknowledged as the best rulers ever to sit upon the throne in the current story line. Also, of the three hundred years of their reign, almost half of them are done without dragons and it worked out just fine. Until Aerys and Rhaegar fucked up.
