I watched NGE on VHS in 1997 and I don’t think the new dub is bad. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Go buy the DVDs or pirate it and stop complaining. I know the flood of casual anime watchers is annoying, but I’m glad it’s getting people into older anime. NGE was unique for its time and really changed the industry, despite what Yea Forums posters cry about, and holds a special place in my heart.

In the original run, for most episodes it was a cover by a British singer called Claire Littley, or Yoko Takahashi (who performs the intro song), or an instrumental/orchestral variation.
In subsequent releases they added additional versions by the Japanese voice actors for Rei, Asuka and Misato.
Most of the Eva versions use the 3/4 time signature that Bart Howard originally wrote the song to, 10 years before Sinatra's cover. But there are a few Eva versions using 4/4 time that Quincy Jones arranged the song with on Sinatra's cover.
