George Lucas wrote, produced, directed and have ABSOLUTE and COMPLETE say in everything related to the film.

My favorite part of it is the fact Lucas seethes over how much better it is than anything he's ever done. He even went as far as to make his own series in the same timeframe with the same name to try and erase it.
