I bought the whole series on dvd and it honestly holds up fairly well

A lot of the dialog is kind of cheesy, and it takes a few episodes for the animation to get up to snuff, but the story and characters are still really compelling

The writers actually knew nothing of transformers. For example they added the 2nd moon as something to blow up one way or another for later, then because of fanforums read all these wacky theories on how fans thought it was Unicron. Writers proceeded in doing ressearch and wrote it into the story. A lot of lore was added without pre knowledge but by researching what fans wanted.

Adding: they hadn't even decided which planet it was taking place on until later on when people started theorizing that about it being on Earth and started talking about the Ark and shit. Only then did they look shit up.

I didnt knew what transformers was when I was a kid and I watched this first, then like 2 years later i discovered transformers but instead of linking them together I assumed "transformer" was the name you gave to any thing that transformed into a giant robot then i discovered power rangers and got extremely upset because they didn't call their robot a transformer

The names etc. came to terms because the characters had already been decided and created as toys by Hasbro. I think they perhaps made some small changes due to cgi but not sure. The making of is short and on youtube.

It was pretty high budget for the pilot. They had to re-use assets constantly though. Why Tigatron got introduced instead of a wolf guy, to re-use cheetors model. The same was supposedly happening with black arachnia and tarantulas, but they clearly spent more time there to give her tits. Also how many bottle episodes do they have in season 1? Like 3 or 4?

The thing about it not being Earth is, it had Earth animals. I guess it would have been very easy to explain the aliens the others, later the vok, took the animals and added them as their experiment. You use earth shit, people are of course gonna assume it's earth.

Shadow Raiders, ReBoot, Beast Wars, ect. All those were fantastic and had excellent writing.

cGI really works best for CGI. Then after a few Pixar movies and shrek it became the thing to do family comedy movies with it, which just come across as soulless for the most part.

IIRC, it wasn't just the two moons, the entire Earth had a different geology until the giant laser weapon (aka second moon) started blowing up energon deposits, dramatically altering the landscape, matching Earth afterwards.
