Imagine that you could push a button that would generate an incredible, perfect, mindblowing film every time you pushed it, but after pushing it your consciousness would be trapped in an empty void for 500 million years, unable to sleep or die, with nothing to do but think. After the time is up, your consciousness would return to your body exactly as it was when you pressed the button and all memory of those 500 million years would be completely wiped. Would you push it?
Imagine that you could push a button that would generate an incredible, perfect...
No because Batman v Superman already exists
Id ask someone else to push it for me multiple times and give me a cut
*push button*
*loud thud*
THE TENTH FILM FROM QUENTIN TARANTINO
No. Our memory is just a construct, and our time lived carelessly would be unfathomably small compared to time spent in the void which sounds like literal hell.

Best post I've seen all year
Stop pretending to be smart
> 500 million years
fuck that shit
Stop being a virgin
If you had a button that granted you 3 wishes but when you push it it kills all the black people, would you push it?
>incredible, perfect, mindblowing film
Literally impossible. Film is a plebeian medium by design. It's no less absurd than an incredible, perfect, mindblowing anime or comic book.
Damn that saved me a wish
t. retard
Yeah but those memories are wiped. They basically never happened
Use a wish to bring back all non-criminals live on tv and then make a face
Stupid way to think about it, they won’t have happened for 50+ years while they were happening for 500 million
>After the time is up, your consciousness would return to your body exactly as it was when you pressed the button and all memory of those 500 million years would be completely wiped. Would you push it?
That means you never “lived” those memories. So yeah, push it
Your consciousness has experienced 500 million years.
>unable to sleep or die, with nothing to do but think
can I still sneedpost?
Stop being ashamed of thought
Yeah but I won’t remember it, and considering i’m going back to the starting point, it’s almost like nothing happened
Eventually you will reach a higher point of being. Godhood, if you like. You could literally create The Simpsons universe and program the daily life of every citizen that lives there...including Sneed. In fact, there's a chance that we ourselves are just the creation of a being trapped within a similar situation to the one in the OP.
>empty void for 500 million years, unable to sleep or die, with nothing to do but think.
you'd only be able to watch the first movie, after that you'd quickly completely lose your mind in the void. by the time the 500 million years was over you wouldn't remember language, how buttons work, a concept of self, what movies are, how physical reality works. sounds hellish.not worth a good movie at all
4 wishes you say?
I could handle 5 years. Anything over a century is unrealistic.
Oh yeah. Id push it TAKASHI MEJIN STYLE!!!!!!!!!!
However many years is a meaningless number when you're actually in the void. It sounds scary when you're experiencing this time-bound reality, but when you strip away what really creates the experience of the passage of time (namely change, which depends on the relationship between objects), time ceases to exist. There's no longer any factors by which to divide time into separate "moments" with past-present-future relationships (you can't compare "then" to "now" because it's all the same), so what you're left with is an eternal present. There isn't even any future because the future is a mental projection of expectations based on past experiences. No past, no future.
After coming back, you'll have absolutely no idea how much time has passed. Could be an hour or ten trillion years. You'll have experienced eternity itself, which doesn't mean infinite time, but no time.
Bring up the image of that gorilla.
i think i experienced something like the void you're describing on an LSD trip. at one point, i came "back" and felt joy/relief knowing that my perception was going to end at some point in the future and that the passage of time still flows. i was blacked out before then, but i remember feeling terror.
Holy fuck what a stupid thread.
