Are there any movies that depict the horrors of war? I don't want to watch yet another flick that shows some guy being a hero, but instead would like to see how terrifying it is for the individual soldiers and how it likely breaks their mind and shit.

This is a good idea, what's the down in the shit losing your mind of war movies?

This. Probably one of the best films made, and that isn't an exaggeration. It captures the horrors of war in a way that translates the trauma from real life to film. It doesn't look real, but it feels real.

All Quiet on the Western Front is the original

Thin Red Line

Saving Private Ryan (Despite the memes)

Come and See

Waltz with Bashir portrays PTSD the most realistically from what i've seen

Sounds cool. I was maybe looking more for some trench warfare thing but I'll check that one out either way.

Reminder that the movie hit so close to truth, that they had to force bullshit angels/death subplot.

I remember reading a screenshot from Yea Forums.
It detailed opening 2 tabs in your browser, going to a video and skipping to a certain point, turning the volume down and pausing, then going to the second tab, opening a second video that was audio, and playing it, then clicking back to first tab and watching combines audio/video and profit..
Video was a shell shock victim video, audio was bird is the word....
Anyone else seen this?
It was some seriously funny shit.

there's this

The movie your OP pic is from? (Die Brücke)

I was more chasing the screenshot, but thats not too bad.

That image is from The Bridge (Die Brucke) it's all about the pointlessness and brutality of the war.

Also Stalingrad (1992) is basically that, just about the horrors of Stalingrad, nothing flashy or heroic.

And now I'm awake at 1:30 AM feeling guilty about how hard I laughed
