Why are the reviews so mixed about this movie? I watched this for the first time last week and after watching it several times it is probably one of my favorite movies ever. This guy goes through one of the most badass character transformations that ive seen in a movie.

I thought the third act was a little unbelievable, but really good movie overall. People think I'm saying shock collar when I try to recommend it.

Really liked the Beast in this movie.

Movies about the harsh realities of prison (especially for men) and how disastrous they are at their main purpose (rehabilitation) means that movies that bring these issues to light are not allowed to be critically acclaimed or popular.

The prison lobby is worth billions of dollars. They spend as much money as they need to keep the money and prisoners flowing.

don't take too much notice of reviewers, they are a literal bunch of faggots

The director has a prison fetish

it is bad and at odds with reality if ex-prisoners on youtube are to be believed. apparently shot callers are more like fall guys than anything. someone has to take the lead, and making a mistake can get you viciously beaten or killed.

my dad went to california state prison, never really talked about it but never mentioned any shot callers or anything like that.

It's a really good movie. I've seen it twice now. Jeffrey Donovan is kino as always.

>tfw the protagonist has WHITE POWER tattooed across his back
>they didn't force in some cringey scene where he renounces his evil ways and begs a black man to fuck his wife
>he's just a normal dude doing what it takes to survive

Or maybe he's just conscience of how terrible prisons are for rehabilitation and is trying to bring that message to the public in the best way he knows how? The theme of his movies are about how prisons abuse petty criminals until they become hardened murderous criminals. He's not wrong either.

I mean obviously shot callers dont control a prison, but the direction his character went in was believable and really makes you think about prison.

This is the most accurate and to the point statement I've seen in a long time on Yea Forums.

I just want to know how they got away with making the first half of this movie just copy the entirety of Felon and why no one ever acknowledges it.

It is. Way more kino than brawl in cell block

True. It turned out better than Felon though

Someone red-pill on more prisonkino like Felon & Shot Caller please

Holt McCallany kills anything he's in

Literally no more. You've seen it all. Just go watch dragged across concrete

Let's squabble prez is one of the coolest lines I've ever heard

Try The Last Castle, pretty great cast.

>People think I'm saying shock collar

>Oh shit, eses are movin it's on
>Suwoop

He was the dude getting raped in the beginning that's why lolol whatta fag

Also AfterPrisonShow is pretty good prison kino.

pretty much this
movie is not some shoe horned simple minded left wing right wing politcal shit piece
really like coster-waldau wouldn't have thought he'd pull of a character but he delivered
not the most outstanding acting but that one scene for example where he tells his son to gtfo really hit me hard

It easily the best thing he has done. Sorry got fans

Fucking kino.

Judging movies by their cover?
