Is there a worse fanbase out there than Power Rangers? Nearly every fan community online is a bunch of nostalgiafags jerking off to Jason Frank, and the few that aren't are just autistic old collectors posting pictures of their toys.

The thing the early seasons of PR did though was actually keep a semi-consistent team, despite moving on to new Sentai footage. Like, that's a neat gimmick to follow. The more Power Rangers can differentiate itself from Sentai, the better. When you're basically just translating and Americanizing scripts, that's when the show becomes pointless.
