Going to the drive-in for the first time tonight

i once went to the drive-in with my ex
she layed on her stomach the whole time and i layed on my back glancing at her ass. I should have made a move. god i'm depressed now
Lots of fucking glare because vehicles can't turn their headlights off anymore.
This is the number one reason drive-ins are fucked by the way.
what are you going to see?
Sounds like the owners need to grow a pair. The one I go to doesnt have this problem
You cannot turn your key to turn on the radio for the movie audio without your headlights turning on and staying on. This became a standard in pretty much all vehicles some time ago.
This has drastically altered the drive-in experience. With the projectors needing stronger and more expensive bulbs to brighten the picture, for instance.
>You cannot turn your key to turn on the radio for the movie audio without your headlights turning on and staying on
What the fuck, theres no way this is real
daytime running lights in pretty much all modern cars now.
i understand how this made sense at some particular time and place in history, but what's the fucking point nowadays?
Why don't they just shut off their engine and take the keys out?
For me what makes or breaks a drive in experience is how good the snack bar is. My former favorite drive in had a change in management some years ago that changed the snack bar and now it kinda sucks. Luckily I live in a place where there’s actually a second drive in just a bit more of a drive out. If you get some tasty treats and don’t wind up parked next to a van full of asshole kids you can be in for a maximum comfy experience.
Oh, and I don’t recommend skipping the snack bar and only bringing in your own food. The theater needs the concession sales to stay open. I mean, if you don’t want to support the business that’s on you, but if you want the place to stay open so you can go in the future, you should consider buying snacks.
Don’t go for any movie you want to pay too close attention to because there may be factors like weather or noisy neighbors that might obstruct the experience. It’s more about outer atmosphere than the best possible immersion in the film. It’s good for a movie you’ve already seen. And you get the best deal if you carpool in a vehicle that can fit multiple friends.
If you go to a drive in that does multiple different double features on more than one screen you might be tempted to screenhop from one screen to another between features, but I really don’t recommend trying to move your car. It is unlikely you will be able to find a decent spot again. Likewise, don’t show up in between the two features and try to just catch the second one. Get there as early as you can before the first feature starts so you can stake a good spot, and be prepared to chill out when there’s no movie playing. If you really want to screen hop then bring camp chairs to just carry to the other screen away from your car and you should be ok.
Pure novelty.
Now you cannot hear the movie and everyone else who can still has their headlights on.
I thought it's just for teenagers fucking because their parents are at home and it's the only place they can go.
Because then the radio wouldn’t run, I assume is what he’s getting at. I think it sounds like bullshit, though. You can play the radio and have the lights off on your car. I feel like if that were so, then I would be seeing a bunch of cars with their lights on in daytime.
But if it’s true, there’s an easy fix by just bringing a portable radio that doesn’t run off of your car battery.
If they’re gonna fuck in their car anyway, they could drive pretty much to any secluded spot for that. In fact, for most it’d be preferable to go to a place where they aren’t surrounded by people.
people could also make out wherever the fuck they want yet they go to the theater
Wtf are you talking about? I don't know what kind of shitbox you drive, but in my car I just have to engage the parking brake to turn off the DRLs.
Err....

The fact that sex is something some people just casually have is something that will never cease to amaze me.
My radio stays on with the engine off minutes, I just have to turn it on and off quickly every 15 mins, this is a 2008 Mercedes
Where are drive-ins still a thing?
i love the drive in man. have a great time. bring snacks in a cooler under a blanket. camping chairs if you have them. bug spray. if you've got a truck back in and use the bed. SUV you can do the same thing and open the rear hatch.
before you go, figure out how to shut off your car's running lights. google it if you need to. also prepare for people to be running their A/C meaning you will have to do the same due to noise.
SUVs and trucks usually have to park further back due to their size while sedans can park closer to the front.
sounds more like people can't figure out how to shut them off.
also most places seem to offer a double feature so optimially you will want to pick the screen that has the best two movies for you to see, rather than one good and one shitty. or at least don't plan on catching the entire second movie if you want to switch screens.
Drive-ins were and are absolute garbage
>shitty ass barely comprehensible radio audio
>constant sporadic engine sounds around you
>constant opening and slamming of car doors
>watching a film through a windshield of your car and the reflections of other cars
>people constantly walking around your car going to the bathroom/get snacks
>the screen being absolute shit, especially out in the open
The only thing it was good for is that it was a good excuse to fuck a girl in the car
They pipe the audio directly into your car radio? What sort of technical wizardry is that?
it's fun to be able to catch a movie in your own car instead of in a sticky theater seat sometimes.
if your car's a shitbox with broken a/c there is no point.
is this bait you turbozoomer they use a low power fm transmitter
do colored people frequent such drive-ins?
