My biggest problem is not Spike being "old" on itself, he is kind of an old soul in many way.
The problem is mainly Jet.
Jet is supposed to have nuances of older brother, father figure (not only to the bebop, but also to a former lover) and even in some aspect (like cooking) of a team mom.
He must look significantly older than spike or it does not work.
