Isnt the point that it's supposed to be a color alien to humans?

I always pictured it as a pale purple-ish grey that flashed different hues erratically so fast it showed every color simultaneously and broke your brain

Actually no. The whole point is not that it's an indescribable color, but that the alien thing is so fucking weird they can only describe it as "color" because they have no idea what else to call it

couldn't they do some gimmick where you can only see the color if you use special glasses at the theaters? that would be neat
theoretically, is it possible?

it's set in current year and there's a post-credit scene in the script where nyarlatothep shows up in a blonde wig playing a flute and guys in MAGA hats dance around him.

The best way to do it is have the color be the same but move at a drastically different framerate than the rest of the scene

I do get you but desu it was impossible to deal with from the start so let's focus on the other part that makes The Color alien which are it's gas like properties and it being a lifeforce vampire and transforming the enviroment might be a good deal. I also think it is impossible to capture on pictures but we might be getting weird fluctuations of the colors changing etc. The color itself wont be alien and spooky like it should be in the original story but hopefully it can still be pretty kino.

Dunno when they started but it's coming in September this year

I just wish for a animated dark series called the Dreamquest of Randolph Carter that has like 10 hours of content and is set in the colorful yet dark world of the dreamlands sa well. One can dream but maybe once we will get it if lovecraft shit gets tv popular

People should just stop trying to adapt Lovecraft's works directly. There are some genuinely great movies that use Lovecraftian/cosmic horror themes, but whenever anyone tries to make an actual straight adaptation of one of his stories it winds up being garbage.

agree that it looks like hsit but I think adapting it straight from hpl is easy, lots of stories are at least you can even add your own shit to the story and it will be ok but not like this.

Myself as well, user. He got a raw deal from Val Kilmer who pretty much cost the man both his dream job and his career. Even Brando recognized Stanley's talent.

The doc is such a fun and spooky watch if you're into chaos magick and the other worldly.

I imagine Kilmer would be insuferable to be around on this shoot. Pretty boy actor in the presence of "muh method acting guru" who knows he's gonna play or just got finished playing Batman. Fuck, there's a line in Lost Soul about Stanley secretly being on set, torch in hand entertaining the thought of burning it all down. How he managed not to is beyond me

This, Lovecraft demands the reader use their imagination to conjure up the horrors. It works well as literature but suffers from too much information once put on screen.
