Silent movies

Which are actually worth watching? I've disliked pretty much every silent film I've attempted to watch.

Unironically this

>i've disliked every silent movie i've seen
>but i'm going to keep watching them
We know you're only doing this so you can make the claim that you've watched this shit to other people, you fucking knob

Metropolis
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

The Phantom Carriage is a masterpiece

Why do you want to watch them if you don't like them? It's pretty obvious they are not for you

I agree, Sunset is also great.

FUCKING THIS. It has been ostracized because it’s racist but it’s called the original kino for a reason. Unironically more engaging than most modern shit.

The buster Keaton one called the general or something. It's better than thousands of sound movies I've seen

NOSFERATU (1922)

You didn't like the short your pic is from? WTF is wrong with you? It's charming as fuck!

Modern Times is still great.

Sherlock Jr
Thief of Bagdad
He Who Gets Slapped

The Phantom Carriage and The Last Laugh are two of the best movies I've ever seen. Emil Jannings in particular is one of the best actors of all time.

I found Destiny to be pretty entertaining.

Metropolis is fucking garbage outside of its masterfully crafted sets and Lang himself agrees.

Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid"
First silent movie I ever watched, absolutely loved it

Any early Chaplin, especially "City Lights". Destiny. L'Age d'Or. Aelita: Queen of Mars. Häxan. Nosferatu (that's sort of essential). Les Vampires. I think "Vampyr" technically has a little speaking but I haven't watched it yet since there are others on my backlog right now, but it's within the same era and is highly recommended.
I don't agree with Lang, personally. Brigitte Helm was a treasure.

good taste

The music is great too. Modern restoration use the origin music by Gottfried Huppertz.

I've watched around 100 silent films, I enjoyed most of them. The most important thing is unironically the quality if video and music. BD silents look beautiful.

The Unknown (1927) with Lon Chaney. It's a fantastic movie.
