The werewolf is pretty formulaic so a good werewolf movie is going to need solid effects and a novel setting to stand out. More cheap CGI and rehashes just makes a bad environment for werewolf movies, unfortunately, so there will be few good ones.

At least two very good ones and maybe The Howling and The Wolf but I haven't seen these movies.

Because all of them pretty much rely on the same template, either have a hero who tragically turns into a werewolf (Werewolf of London, The Wolf Man, American Werewolf in London, etc), or have a ''wolf pack'' full of multiple werewolves (The Howling and all of it's sequels, Dog Soldiers, Company of Wolves and a billion direct-to-video movies), which just become a variation of satanic cult movies.

There are exceptions like Silver Bullet, but most still follow the same template, and even Silver Bullet just melds a werewolf into another genre ("Hardy Boys meet Reverend Werewolf" like Gary Busey says).

Nobody wants to go through the effort of doing good werewolf effects

>still no movie about werewolves raping women
why

stephen king's sleepwalkers

formula got stale then CGI was introduced and that has pretty much killed all the classic monster universes and now all we have is ghosts and black demon monsters that all look the same

have sex

Because it requires good horror execution, and cgi fur is extremely computationally expensive.

because werewolves suck

you suck

Yeah? What are you gonna do about it dog?

Attached: fw.png (448x459, 319K)

Massive pain in the ass to make the special effects whether it's CGI or real

enjoy direct sunlight with yo bitch

OP, after American Werewolf there was nothing else left to say. It's such an utterly perfect masterpiece that no movie has since been able to top it!!!FACT!!!

Because the werewolf is a blue collar monster and Hollywood and novelists can't understand or comprehend the basics of it. A werewolf is supposed to be an otherwise ordinary man losing his mind every so often, not snarky college kids turning into spoopy monsters or crazy cults running around in packs. Only Wolf and Silver Bullet even try to get the basics right. Good werewolf stories should be about betas or cucks suddenly thrust into alphadom after being bit, with the renewed physical stength and pyschosis of the werewolf condition improving their pathetic lives...at the price of becoming an inhuman monster that hurts and kills those around him. The template of the werewolf are people like Eric Harris and Elliot Roger, nobody losers who were elevated by extreme acts of violence.

A real werewolf movie/tv series would be unfilmable, because you'd have to show a man being shit on by his wife and kids and family until he gets attacked and bitten and suddenly earns respect and admiration after he starts treating everyone else like shit. The truth of that would hit too close to home for our roastie run matriarchy.

vampires are more sexy and easier to depict

Bleh

werewolves are shit, thats why

i can think of 2, maybe you're just dumb.

I've been looking for a werewolf movie since I was a kid. It had these 2 chicks completely naked doing a werewolf ritual. It showed a glimpse of pusy and was awesome. Anybody know the movie?

never heard of anything with werewolf ritual, what does that even mean?

2 chicks did some ritual during the full moon. Maybe it was a fake ritual prank and then a real werewolf killed them I think. I only ever saw it one time on TV and I've never been able to find out what it was.

The Wolfman with Del Toro was a pretty good classic take on the story. Something was not quite right about it, but the visuals are astonishing.

Historical werewolves were basically witches. Usually they sold their soul to Satan in exchange for a magic pelt or balm that allowed them to transform into wolves and terrorize people.

usually involved drinking some potion from a wolf's footprint, smearing the fat of a freshly killed animal on yourself and kneeling in a magic circle

>that pic
Holy shit lol

The werewolfs in Van Helsing the movie were badass

I liked the mood and setup in the Werewolf movie with Benicio del Toro a few years back, but the end ruined it.

This is where Hollywood needs to go

Chadwolf

Big Bad Wolf, he also talks alotta shit

Project Metalbeast 2 when?

sauce?

what in the fuck made our ancestors walk up to these miniature bears and endure centuries of biting, howling, and scratching to try and domesticate them?

and that is the tame scene

They didn't, different kind of wolf, pic related.

Same reason why there isn't no more good monster horror movies anymore, they chose slow burn psychological bullshit "headline" dramas over terror. Fucking pisses me off.

Maybe The Howling 2.

Dog Soldiers was the scariest fucking movie as a kid

It's Balto

No that's wrong you utter retard

journals.plos.org/plosgenetics/article?id=10.1371/journal.pgen.1004016

beauty and the beast duh

they did it in the 70s with star wars I don't see why they can't do it today

>blue collar monster
I think you mean rural/wild.
Also
>werewolves are about power fantasies for betas
Nigga u dumb, Ever since the Howling it’s been hippie shit, people going back to nature, being more lustful, puberty, etc. Pre-modern werewolves were cut from the same cloth as vampires and were folk hysteria over Satan’s influence in the world mixed with lingering pagan beliefs.
The reason why werewolf movies are rare is because too many people find werewolves sexy or not scary, FX often are shitty because people don’t care, and hollywood would rather remake and reboot than create something interesting.

The only “notable” Werewolf movie about beta power fantasies was the Howling remake that tried to copy Twilight.

Because even the original Wolfman movie wasn't that great

Dog Soldiers is my personal favorite, no cgi and the effects are still more convincing than most modern cgi portrayals of werewolves

Wolf (1994) does that too. Comedies like Teen Wolf also do to a lesser extent.

Only if they're in an anime.

The director's cut was great.

>"Look into my eyes, Lawrence. You'll see I'm quite dead."

I've actually come around to liking Werewolf of London (1935) more than The Wolf Man. Dr. Glendon is such a spazz that a creepy Chinese man is more welcome and liked by high society and his family than he is; really unexpected characterization for 1935. The opening in Tibet was also clearly the template for American Werewolf in London's opening, the way the transformation is built up to is pretty creative, the makeup is scarier than Chaney Jr's and the bit where his hand partially transforms after being exposed to artificial moon rays is pretty cool.

no one is able to do a good movie based on them any more.

it is either an action CGIfest or they try so hard to capture the feel of the golden age films

I would have aborted my shit right then and there

>"...and stick to the trail... OOPS."

Furfags probably. Werewolves aren’t the primal part of man emerging. It’s the rabid animal that a man can’t stop. Although I’m partial to the old myth where they either put on or take off a skin to transform we will never get that because furfags and hippies. You could do a spin where it’s empowering, but they slowly realize that the beast is wearing them. I like when it’s a sadistic monster that needs to be destroyed. Always liked an American werewolf in London for the mental aspect.

werewolves posess too much toxic masculinity
for todays climate

Because there are so few good movies.

>centuries
It doesn't take that long, actually. Soviets were making progress with domesticating foxes in under decades, before getting bored and moving on to other weird science experiments.

Thinking about watching Wer (2013) can anyone tell me if it's any good?

Attached: wer.jpg (350x499, 35K)

but werewolves have not been popular since the 80s...you are like a lost child that wonders in the middle of a movie than starts complaining.

because this movie, as hilarious as it is, set the precedent for every modern shitty werewolf flick.

Attached: cursed.jpg (800x1185, 169K)

The furry mafia doesnt allow showing them in a bad light.

Underworld and Twilight, bitch.

Because we don't know how to make a credible werewolf in a movie. They are ridiculous like your picture or they are too childish

do you know what movie that's from?

the best part of this film was the nazi mutant dream sequence.

youtube.com/watch?v=D0wShZqevLU

It was good, weird ass movie tho from what I can recall. Ending was extremely retarded. Never seen another werewolf movie like it

I suck werewolves.

An American Werewolf in London ?

Teen Wolf was unironically the worst movie I saw in 2018

How could everyone forget about the best werewolf movie ever?

Attached: cover.jpg (800x1100, 798K)

furries have ruined werewolves

Ironically enough theirs nowhere near enough r34 of human females taking the supernatural knot to even things out

That's exactly what make them bad.
It is about loosing man's mind every moon, but it's not about sudden power.

Probably because there are comparatively few werewolf movies in general. You're less likely to find good ones as a result.

What movies with good werewolf? Besides underworld and wolf cop

The main problem of werewolf stories is always the power.
I don't think that werewolf in human shape should have any special powers at all, that's stupid.
This is curse, not blessing, he has to be ordinary man.
In werewolf shape i can understand this, but don't think he can control himself.

Van Hellsing with Kate. But it's like Carnival about everything

Watched it plenty times

because concept itself is almost always something you have to cope with so it doesn't fuck up your life.

Attached: human91.jpg (545x385, 48K)

So Jekyll and Hyde?

>being human
us or uk?

Our ancestors probably didn't walk up to them, they probably approached our ancestors to feed on scraps/scavenge kills when food was scarce for them and over time the more docile and friendly wolves had more success at getting freebies from humans because they weren't seen as much of a threat and were allowed closer/to scavenge longer, whereas the vicious ones were quickly killed or driven off.

Eventually you end up with wolf packs where all the members are descended from docile, friendly wolves whose main source of food is following humans around and making puppy eyes nearby whenever the humans killed something so they'd give them something.

werewolf movies bad amirite?
what a trite reddit meme

I like to make wewewolf MOVIES

Attached: the moonstar.jpg (638x638, 33K)

Van Hellsing and Ginger Snaps are the best 2 werewolf movies.

Best warewolf movie ever imo, and they're cat people.

A good werewolf film has to be adult and truly scary. That means good effects, lots of fucking, some tit shots, good location, good cast, no NPC pandering. Who has the guts and talent to do any of that in current Hollywood?

Wolves hunt in packs so they don't get rekt by large animals. What did he mean by this?

Romasanta is actually pretty good tbqh, though it's arguably not a werewolf movie I guess.

Nope just needs a good script. Everyone can scream. you can just use mannequins for the sex scenes. Most camera work is over done, get the scene in frame then stop fucking with the camera. Movies without scores are scary enough. All you have to is tell a story, not prove your life meant something by adding to movie making cannon.

Angela Carter wrote a similar premise in a short story. "The company of wolves" if I'm not mistaken.
The damsel even got borderline turned on by the wolf man's "package"

They killed the adults and stole the pups

why was this wolf alone? that's pretty unusual for an animal who lives in packs, unless he's an outcast

They probably domesticated themselves.

Bingo!

Imagine gettinged raped by a werewolf OwO
